BitShares PTS / Re: Have I lost my PTS?
« on: February 20, 2014, 03:44:33 am »
You've not lost your PTS, you've just not sent the transaction to the network, it looks like.

If your client shows you as connected (you left out the bottom where we could tell on your screenshot) just restarting your client might be enough.

If you can't get connected the most recent version of the ProtoShares/Bitshares PTS software might help.

BitShares AGS / Re: Donate PTS and BTC atleast 40 minutes before deadline
« on: February 19, 2014, 11:55:35 pm »
Ok what is the data being shown in i3 website ? Is that the total  PTS and BTC donations combined? It is confusing because the unit states it is on AGS.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, can you post the address?  I didn't see anything on invictus-innovations.com or invictus.io about AGS with a quick glance.

For what it's worth, I use AngelShares Explorer for my AGS info.

Hi

AGS donations have reached more than 2000000 cap. Does this mean the donations beyond 2M  will not be honored as BTS?

thank you.

AGS donations are ongoing until 2,000,000 AGS have been distributed, not until 2M PTS or BTC or USD have been donated.

Currently only about 500,000 AGS have been created, so we're only about 1/4th of the way through the AGS process.

Technical Support / Re: Confused...
« on: February 19, 2014, 09:36:36 pm »
Please, I am confused too:

2. Is bitshares allready launched?
>No. It is planed to be launched 02/28.
What about "BitShares PTS"?
Will ProtoShares remain existing after 02/28?

Thanks

BitShares PTS and ProtoShares refer to the same thing.  ProtoShares was recently renamed to BitShares PTS.

BitShares PTS / Re: ProtoShares holding ground in the face of the Storm

PTS Rising like the phoenix, 50% rise in just 1 day !

just saw that.  anything new happened??

It was announced that later BTS X chains would be based off of the test BTS chain and thus everyone is rushing to get PTS/AGS before the 28th since most of the market seems to think that BTS is worth a lot as a DAC but other concepts are not.

Personally, I think the market is a bit short-sighted in this regard.

BitShares PTS / Re: lost original protoshare wallet
« on: February 19, 2014, 06:45:33 am »
I see the wallet.dat file now what should I open it with to view it?

I think you missed the following part of Troglodactyl's post:

Open the ProtoShares folder, copy the wallet.dat file, and then go to the BitShares-PTS folder and paste it there.

After doing this, you should see your old balance when you run the new BitShares-PTS application.

You don't need to 'double-click' to open your wallet or anything, you just need to put it in the right location (the BitShares-PTS folder) and then run the BitShares-PTS program; the program itself will read your wallet.

BitShares PTS / Re: BitShares-PTS 1.0 Release (2.18.2014)

Where do I get to place a bet that the change of name leads to people freaking out and thinking they lost all their coins when they don't think to rename their config directory?  (Even the windows installer didn't rename C:\users\blah\AppData\protoshares for me!)

Am I just cynical about the competence of the average investor?

Can someone confirm this?:

60 days of funding for the snapshot. Jan+Feb+1 keyhotee
AGS created 5000*60=300k
2 million/300k=6.66666 BTS per AGS

That looks right to me.

3.33_.

10,000 AGS per day, 5000 from BTC, 5000 from PTS.

I would do this, but not under the pressure of a bounty. It's just not healthy for me and my code to do this with the constant fear of the full work possibly being obsolete at some point. If you assign this exclusively to me I will try to finish it within one week.

Ok, you have it done in one week and it is yours... if it takes longer than one week then it is open for anyone.

That just means it's drekrob's period, no?

I'd be crazy to start now, thinking that drekrob will fail; he probably won't.
I'd be crazy to start after a week, since drekrob has seven days worth of a head start on me.
Invictus would be crazy to not allow drekrob to compete after a week because he'd almost certainly be the person closest to a working product.

I think what I'm getting at is that this new arrangement might have an even worse incentive structure than the bounties.

We are unlikely to produce these other variants (interest, variable interest, consensus) in 2014 because it would confuse the market which will require time to learn about the mechanics of BitShares X in the simplified form...This is designed to protect everyones investment in BitShares X and eliminate the potential that our future upgrades will harm their initial investment.

So if it were up to us there would only be a single chain that users need to worry about for the next year.

But it's not going to be up to III, right?  I can't imagine that all the players capable of forking BitShares X are going to wait a year to launch chains for stocks, prediction markets and everything else under the sun.  Their forks may fail if they do not follow the social consensus, but if they do their 'BitShares XI' chain would likely out-compete III's later one.

Can we get unit tests for this code.  I need more assurances than 'may work' :)

Done.  Though badmaninpink's solution is probably better.  Mine definitely depends heavily upon python.

The benefit of nigh-instantly adapting to electrum changing the way they do wallets...  eh, not very likely.

This sounds like it will lead to an ugly decoupling of value at the PTS/AGS BitShares XT split (i.e. PTS/AGS will lose a lot of value on the 28th).

It seems like we have a few different sources of value here and basically we're just talking about where we want them to fall.

BitShares token value
BitShares (presumed) utility value
Other DAC value

With the old plan BitShares value reverted to PTS/AGS in the case of XT failing whereas now it stays with XT.  So we remove some uncertainty of how much BitShares XT will be worth at the cost of extracting a lot of the value of PTS/AGS and putting it into XT.

Both plans seem reasonable to me, with their own benefits and drawbacks; if I'm understanding correctly.

oh, this is NoirSharesd for linux?

Haha, yeah.

And here I was thinking, "Crazy Ubuntu users, not knowing how to compile from source."

'Crazy Windows users' makes a lot more sense.

Thank you, yes you are right. The first was the git used i used to test the functions and build if i was away from my workdesk. I here that some people after hearing my idea went and prematurely started mining before i was ready to post the actual git. lol

Can you please tell me how to use your binary? 7zip is just producing a file that does nothing. Thanks for your effort, i will find a way to pay you well for that.

It's just a raw binary bzip'd, 7zip might be thinking that I'm committing blasphemy for not adding a tar in there somewhere.

`bunzip2 NoirSharesd.bz2` should produce a runnable NoirSharesd
