I love buying stuff with the coins I mine.  Hopefully someone can implement your idea.

Very cool I had not known that.
So are there even more optimizations?

For those who haven't realized,

Thanks this is a very easy setup.
I will put together some money and try running this as my free service does not qualify for this.  I am not sure why I have 3 yrs for free from my old job and I hosted programs and all sorts of stuff from it for free.
About how much per month does it cost you?  I did ask this of another user as well.

Roughly how much per month does it cost you to run?

I have a couple questions.
I can use AWS (Amazon) is there an easy setup for that service if I choose to go that direction?

That's what I use. When setting up your instance (I used Linux AMI (HVM) instance), under user data, paste this script:

#! /bin/bash
wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/yam_miner
tar zxvf yam-yvg1900-M7k-linux64-sandy-bridge.tgz
cd yam-yvg1900-M7k-linux64-sandy-bridge
cd linux64-sandy-bridge
wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/your_yam_config
./yam --config yam-mmc.cfg

User data is automatically run when the instance starts up. Thus, it will automatically connect to a pool and start mining. Obviously, setup your yam-config file beforehand, then add both the yam miner and yamconfig to your dropbox and edit the script with those URLs. With new yam releases, you may need to edit the folders the script opens (cd yam-yvg1900-M7k-linux64-sandy-bridge -> cd yam-yvg1900-M7m-linux64-sandy-bridge for yam 'm' version).

cc2.8xlarge uses sandy bridge architecture. All of the c3.#xlarge use haswell. Change your yam miner and edit the script as needed, depending on which miner you use.

I get ~34hpm with cc2.8xlarge. Feel free to ask any other questions.

Thank you.  :)

I'll create an AMI for that and explain how to use it.

Hopefully soon we get MMC on there.

That a good point about Cryptys. Considering I've seen them put extremely high opening prices for new coins, it seems quite plausible.

I wonder sometimes if they delay coin adoption to get a good amount of it first through other channels to make a bigger buck off it.
This is not the first coin I have seen them drag their feet on terribly.
Hopefully soon as it would help alot with the visibility and adoption.
I am using Bter and CrytpoRush though for MMC as they both support it so I support them.

I assume Cryptsy is making a commercial decision not to list MMC yet - they haven't disclosed what their reasons are to me. It's difficult to say what effect on price a listing on Cryptsy will have in the short-term - it might be a mixed blessing, although I'm sure we'll be listed there eventually. I don't think Cryptsy accepts bribes for listings relying instead on their user's demands - don't think we'd offer one if they did.

Regardless of who wins one big thing I think we should work on is getting a physical coin.  It can be user loadable like a bunch of the new coins.
We could even work on one similar to Nasty Fans setup.  You buy a coin which gets you a seat and can also be traded and mined to in order to increase it's value.  This would help adoption rates and visibility among many more people.

A simple copper Bitcoin that I won as a consolation prize on a website was what hooked me into cryptocurrency so long ago now.  It's a great marketing tool and if you put something in someone's hands it makes it real and immediate to them.

I spoke with my cousin who works on movies like Hunger Games and Happy Feet two and such and got him interested in mining MMC.
There just does not seem like there is much info or promotion out there for MMC like so many other coins.  He had not heard of it before reading my article.  We definitely need to get more out there.
We should look into some actual advertising since we are a group with some funds.  We also need to promote and get some people to sponsor a few more faucets.  They seem to help introduce people to differeing coins rather quickly.
I am actually going to donate 1 MMC to the faucet after I finish this post as it is 70% of the time empty.

Good luck guys it's a big task and you both have good ideas and projects that no matter what we should keep going on.

That is cool.  Bookmarked thanks.

I think you are right.  I don't think it was introduced until the Phenom II.

AFAIK, Phenom x4 9750 => no AES-NI

Am I wrong?

I have a  Phenom X4 9750.  My motherboard died but if the results show it works well mining MMC.  I will buy a new MB instead of just selling it.

Yes it supports it, its a K10 architecture. I am trying to use generic.

Earlier you mentioned you are testing on some AMD Phenom. Is this yours CPU?

http://www.cpu-world.com/cgi-bin/CPUID.pl?CPUID=6498

Can you post here output of HwInfo64 or other tool showing AES-NI is supported by your CPU?

If you right click the command prompt icon from your start-allprograms menu it will show an option to run as administrator.  Use that.  If it still does not work yvg1900 might know what to do.

Ok I tried that and I got this error.

EDIT, I attempted to add administrator privileges and to automatically closes.

At first I had the same problem.
It needs to be run directly from the command line for some reason.
Open command prompt - change the directory to the folder where your YAM.exe and cfg is and then run the following.
Quote
yam -c yam-mmc.cfg
It should run then with no problems.

I am sorry if you already covered this. I just read through the 5 pages with no luck finding a solution for me.

I am new to YAM, I have successfully ran all other miners (CPU/GPU alike) on all 7 of my pc's. I can not get YAM to run. First I wasnt sure which file to download, I tried, generic, barcelona and nehalem with no luck. I attempted to edit the example file like suggested in the readme. I saved, went into yam folder and clicked it. It just popped up and closed in all cases. I attempted to do a bat file, which I am comfortable with, not sure I did it right. Did the same thing.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Any assistance would be appreciated. I have 3-i5's and 3-i7's that I will be adding YAM too, once I am able to figure out how to use this program.

Windows 7 Pro 64bit
AMD Phenom II x4 B50 (K10 Architecture), Code Name Deneb with 4 gb

Thanks for any assistance,
Dave

CryptoRush uses MMC as well.
Right now I use Bter and CryptoRush.
I do like that the more Bter points you have that you get a monthly % of the fees if I am reading the info on them right.
