General Discussion / Re: LOST BITSHARES / IDEA PROPOSAL

I think it is a known bug in safari. Try with chrome or use the light wallet for now

I can understand that.. but this is peoples money! I've lost 100,000 bitshares at the hype period of 2.0 which was like 350$.. you can't have these mistakes or bugs with publicly released software.

I sent a small tip to test this out: http://btstip.io/Home/Dashboard?username=Tony%20Hughes%20Design

I do have the green light to backup on the server...  DL has vetted a protocol to save the wallets on the server and I'll be putting it to the test.

You can use Chrome or FF..   If you have something in Safari you need to get out, you can verify brainkey which will show you the secret brainkey.  Be careful it is not encrypted...

why don't you send them just the new wallet.bin? I mean if I'd trust you with my password and priv keys, it makes not difference

fyi, wallet.bin will have a unique brainkey in it used to generate all new private keys in that wallet...

Tony, great post you have inspired changes in the platform.  Thanks for all your hard work to share your story.  I suggest to forget about the account "name" it is gone.

However, do create a new account and post the name here.  I'll donate some of my BTS to you because you have earned it...

General Discussion / Re: Wallet "unsynching"?

Did this wallet work at one point?  You can export the wallet even if you are not synced.  Just double check your balance when you import to BTS 2.

First 2.0 referral program is up and running.
In order to participate you need to refer users to bitshares.org, openledger.info or bithsares.openledger.info domains and pass your account name (account needs to be a lifetime or annual member) via r= parameter.
You will collect either 60% (for lifetime referrer account) or 30% (annual member) of all fees paid by each user that registers by your link.
Example of a valid link:
Code: [Select]
https://bitshares.org?r=youraccountname

Nicely done guys!

Going to https://bitshares.org?r=yourREALLIFETIMEaccountname

and clicking on "online wallet" is creating an account with :

Fee Allocation
Network   20%
Lifetime Referrer   (openledger-reg)   30%
Registrar   (openledger-reg)   50%
Affiliate Referrer   (openledger-reg)   0%

@fav  @valzav  amongst others.

PS
 IE
clicked enter code (or something like that before registering)
Except: https://Bitshares.org/wallet?r=youracct

Nope, Valentine reassures me bitshares.org captures the r value and it is tested as forwarding to https://bitshares.openledger.info/...

Technical Support / Re: Wallet management console
« on: October 30, 2015, 12:43:37 am »
What is that wallet management console in openledger GUI? I tried to create a new wallet and it seems that I can't do anything with it. What is this feature for?

It's used when you import keys or create new account. They're saved in the active wallet there you can make backups or delete wallets. These are only browser wallets they are not on a server you have to export them.  The footer is going to remind you of this.

So if I have and account, and want to create another account, do I need to create a new wallet first? Some manual which explains this process in simple words would be helpful.

No...   This is an advanced screen..  You typically do not need to go there.   The UI will prompt you the first time to make a backup.  The backup will have your brain key in it. Every time you create a new account it is derived from the brain key so you don't need to make a new backup.   You can restore the backup on another browser or computer and see how it works.

Actually in one case yes...   the faucet is only there to create your first account in the wallet.   You can fund that first account and create more yourself in the same wallet.

We are testing the web version .. If it works well I can merge it and it will make its way into the installers:

Web release for importing large wallets (testers needed)
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,19557.msg251364.html#top

After selecting the file, browser when "not responding" for about 3 mins, then it successfully cut 90k keys down to 476 keys, found balances and imported.

maybe give a warning about not responding but otherwise it works great!
Win7
Firefox 41.0.2

You should see an animated spinner now (well it does not really animate in Firefox)...

GenesisFilterWorker InvalidStateError: An attempt was made to use an object that is not, or is no longer, usable 1ae2f77e0472c8b52ebd.worker.js:1:786

This appears in Firefox versions under 41.  I had to abandon the worker-thread for the Genesis filter.  Make sure to really tell FF to reload the page and this issue should not show up.  Unfortunately, the nice UI message "Filtering X %" does not appear anymore but at least this should be fixed...

You can follow the progress in the browser's console window, I added a message there.

Let me know if this is good to merge into the main branch!
