General Discussion / Re: The #1 Intro Video to BitShares
« on: December 09, 2015, 04:52:27 am »
I'd be happy to help do the English voice over for you guys,  but I'd like to see if there's any others willing to step up and offer their services besides me.  And if so, let the community vote who they feel fits the project best.
What time frame are you needing this voice over to get completed?
Also, it would be good to view the final animation in order to fit the voice over tempo and "word flow" congruent of the animations.
Are you pretty close to having this animation 100% complete?

For reference... I do the Beyond Bitcoin intro voice overs.

ps- if you've already got a French voice over done and need it "livened" up some,  please PM me.  I'd be more than happy to help polish the audio!

Thanks a lot for your comment and your proposal to help us.

As said earlier we have a professional person for the french voice, but we do not know how her english is, so we are very thankful that you propose to do the english voice.
Our goal is to make a video as professional as possible and it would be great to have an english native person speaking on this video, that would be great actually!
If that is ok with you, we will have the video ready as soon as possible and let you know about its progress

Thanks a lot
I'm only a pm away [emoji2]

@onceuponatime I've always respected you and this proposal shows why.  I wish I had time to chime in on the conversation but, please re-think the multi sig threshold and increase it to something like 2 of 10 or 3 of 20.  When I was skimming through the proposal this was the one thing that I don't feel good about.
Otherwise, I'll vote on this knowing you've thoroughly thought this through and feel comfortable pushing this forward and putting your money on the line.

Can you tell me why it would be advantageous to do that? Since I plan on compensating my advisers (co-signatories) on the Maintenance Fund for their efforts and advice, increasing the number makes it both unwieldy to have meetings and expensive to run. What are the advantages?
My thinking was kind of what you've already mentioned, death, sickness, lost wallets or M.I.A persons.  I certainly agree with you when you say it'll be easier to maintain with fewer involved but, in the long term, I think having a few more names to call in the phone book as back ups will be beneficial should the need arise.

You forgot my trips to Bermuda ;)

No worries, all the work I did and the work that the Devs I hired are still doing will be formally announced soon enough. It's better to complete these things than to announce and release them to the public half assed.
lol, that would certainly explain the silence

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the whole point of your delegate to create a business with the pos systems that utilized bitshares to make you/your business money??  Was anything delivered? A prototype maybe? Weren't you integrating with oodoo or something?
Yea Ken, what the hell!  What you spend that 415,237 bts on with your delegate pay?  A flat screen tv,  a treadmill, or possibly a fancy dog house?
DAMN IT...That was supposed to be used to pay for test equipment, developers, gui development, merchant literature, travel expenses, testers, state of the art ipad pos terminals and not to mention... Payment processor integration.
So disappoint... I bet you spent all that bts on the fancy dog house didn't you.
You dirty dog you! [emoji12]

Sent 5,000 BTS to fav with TDC in memo

Just to be clear, I'm not advocating this as a permanent fix or solution.  I'm just suggesting that the gui gets turned off or modified so people don't need to worry about prying eyes...knowing that this is in no way stealth or completely private.  Just a reassuring notion that people will need to work harder to gain/view that same tx info.

Another way to view this...
Let's put some underwear on the naked body, at the very least

General Discussion / Quick Poll for turning "OFF" Tx history within the GUI
« on: December 04, 2015, 05:47:49 am »
Hey everyone,

I had this discussion earlier with someone regarding "privacy" on the blockchain and though I've had this thought before,  why not just "turn off" the ability for anyone to just peep into someone's account history at the GUI level??
Or at the very least make it very ambiguous?
Like... 100 BTS Sent/Received on 12/3/2015
or  100 BTS transferred in/out 12/3/2015

Let me be clear... I'm only stating this could/should be done when people are looking at OTHER people's accounts,  not within their own.
If I have my own wallet unlocked I would obviously like seeing the full TX history details showing/listed,  as they currently show in the GUI.

Me personally, this could be a more comfortable way going about some privacy until STEALTH TX's can get fully implemented in the back end of the block chain.
Hell, this simple change could make people want to start using their wallets more frequently???    Could be just me, but it seems things are a bit "stagnant" at the moment in the BTS ecosystem?

Anywho... My view is this,  I don't mind people knowing what I have... I do mind that other people can easily see who I transact with.  If someone is really, really, really hell bent to know "where" my money went and to whom,  then let them take the extra steps/time to go through a command line (if that's possible? IDK?) to find that information out.

This is simple curiosity on my part as to why I published this poll... just to see if there's any others who share my same line of thinking.  :P

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Stealth Transfers Worker Proposal

Are we trying to build this...

Or are we trying to build this....

If we're trying to build this... ^^^^^^^^^^^^
then there must be a coherent way in approaching this.  Stealth features are awesome... but it's just tint on the windows,  an "aftermarket" item.

Why can we NOT focus on getting a SOLID and SMOOTH running back end first and foremost! (analogy= Engine, Transmission and Frame)
*with 2.0 this has been much better!

Why can we NOT get a clear and usable API put together (analogy= The doors and windows to the car)
*other devs have bitched and complained about this for some time now

Why can we NOT get an intuitive and simple GUI together (analogy=Instrument panel, Steering wheel and  Keyed Ignition)
*again kudos...light years from 1.0  to 2.0 but still lacking many features and usability

Sooo... with this analogy,  If you had a gas can (analogy= gas is liquidity) and wanted to use it to fill up a form of transportation and be able to use it... which of the above two vehicles above would you choose?  Right now we're resembling the first!

I know we have the smartest and most talented Engineers working on this project but,  DAMN... let's step away from the draft tables in Engineering Dept. for a minute and let's get "all hands on deck"  and onto the shop floor working everyone available... going station by station... helping to get this thing +99% complete.
Once done...THEN we can focus how best to find/get willing users with gas cans in hand and then proceed listening to the markets of "what" aftermarket features are wanted/needed.

Bitshares IMO, always has and always should be the DEX it was meant to be.  After this has been established and implemented 100% ,  other features and add-on's should be quicker and easier to implement once the time comes.  I say this because you'll already have "most" of the ideas/plans sitting on the shelves in Engineering Dept. and will have "free'd" up man power to jump on those projects.

So please...
We need to get away from this   vvvvvvvv

and move towards this vvvvvvv

Could stealth bring liquidity to Bitshares... ABSOLUTELY,  but not until everything else get's wrapped up IMO.

And please don't take this as a "Bash" towards the Devs or any of the hard working community members;  but realistically... It's time we get our shit together and be who we're suppose to be, THE MOST PROFESSIONAL AND BEST IN CRYPTO!
And it must start with solid/clear project management that leads to end goals; not the other way around.
We have plenty of goals ATM to keep us busy.

@fuzzy
Ready for phase #2

118
The system doesn't correlated bitsharestalk account -> BTS wallet (because not all users have one specified).

The workflow works like this right now (I will use fuzzy as the example here):

Fuzzy deposits his BROWNIE.PTS into our system (using the memo code provided on his profile as btstip.io) and waits for the transaction to confirm
Fuzzy then proceeds to tip whoever he wants on the forums using their forum name

If a user mapping does not exist within the system already (forum name -> forum id ... e.g. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=38721 is your profile, so 38721 is your id) then you are looked up via the 'Search Member' function on the forum. If a mapping is then found, you're stored in a cache so you won't need to be looked up again.

Once the user id can be determined a tip is generated and the tip is PM'd to the user, as well as a post being made on the forum (the bot prioritizes PMing over posting, so if you make 10 tips in one post, it will not begin posting until all 10 tips are PM'd).

A user then claims their tip from the link provided in the PM to their btstip.io account (no transaction fee imposed upon either the tipper, or the tip receiver).

At a users convenience they can withdraw their tip from the system (and be charged a transaction fee), to do so a user must first have a withdrawal code saved. If a user does not have one they can generate one (every 24h) which will then be PMed to the user (this is for "proof of account" purposes).

Using the withdrawal code, you can then withdraw the funds from your btstip.io account to a wallet and also specify an optional memo (allowing you to also withdraw funds directly to an exchange).

---

@tonyk I don't see your user id even in the cache, did you receive a tip or what? Your user id is 11011 on the forums.
No, I was concerned you blindly send the tip directly to the account, if you find a matching account on the BTS blockchain to the forum name.

Not that I like the mass amount of forum spamming that this tipping thing do achieve already, but at least the concrete issue above did exist only in my mind.

+5% tonyk ^^^^ why didn't you just state in that context earlier?

119

Right now the bot is in the process of looking up usernames to translate username -> user id, as the bot looks up more users this will become a faster processed as this mapping is cached.

Who the bleep came with this piece of nonsense? I am for sure NOT the owner of *tonyk* or *tonyk2*.
so you gonna send tips to random accounts just cause the bot thinks the names match?
Good thing you weren't on the list, so nothing to worry about [emoji12]
I sure hope at least you get the point behind your post, cause it doesn't look like any from the outside.

Com'on tonyk, even an outsider can clearly see/read "Test Sending w/Bot"  on the Subject line... yet you feel the need to lambaste people that are trying to build a functioning tipbot for our forum which has nothing to do with BTS main project.
So yes, I'm keenly aware of my surroundings along with the comment I made.  Does life suck so bad that you need to pick on a tipbot?
