General Discussion / Re: Predict the next exchanges joining BitShares

The poloniex wallet thread is a prime example and use case of what needs to be pitched to these other exchanges along with their user base, for making an intelligent business decision to integrate into the Open Ledger project and not use these other "closed source" side chain hack jobs.
could you be more specific? Are you talking about polo's UI?

Sure, the thread I'm referring to is here https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,19011.0.html

tl;dr
On POLO's website (aka trading page) they were showing they had 25M BTS on the trading books,  but their BTS wallet only showed around 12M BTS... so clayop raised a red flag and challenged them to prove POLO was indeed holding a 25M BTS supply as they claimed.  In the end, which only took a day I think,  POLO showed us their other BTS storage wallets and thus,  able to show they DO in fact, actually have those BTS in their possession and everything matched to their exchange stats.
I can attest personally after seeing/reading that,  that made me feel WAY more comfortable sending POLO my hard earned money and trade into BTS.
I can't speak for the other crypto's they carry/trade since those coins and their associated wallets aren't open to the public. So who know's without a doubt that those numbers are 100% honest and correct for those other Alts?  I'm not accusing POLO of cooking any of their other books; I'm just pointing out flaws in the system (as most of us are already aware of) and we just proved to the financial world (through this current event) that BTS truly can make a difference and protect the end user!!!
Now, just image if ALL those coins along with ALL those exchanges in the world made this change to use Bitshares as their back end... everything can be 100% verified and accounted for.  NO funny money, scams or bogus IOU's and can be easily tracked by the end users/investors.  Well... until stealth gets implemented LOL.

Thanks so much for confirming and your wonderful help. I really appreciate it. So at this point is proven that they received the coins 1350 blocks BEFORE the snapshot. So they have the coins on the Genesis Block in their own Wallet. IS BITTREX HONEST OR NOT?
I guess we'll find out if they are?!
I've used Bittrex in the recent past and haven't had any issue with them,  nor have any reason to not trust them. In the same breath; I find it hard to believe that an exchange that has somewhat "high" BTS trading volume didn't get the 2.0 upgrade memo.  Just my 2bts

Thanks for keeping us updated.  Are the event host's doing any video production for this?  If so, would like to get info as to where/how to obtain it.

To add to tucks question, isn't all the sub accounts we port over suppose to be automatic lifetime members, if they were registered before the cut off date?

Technical Support / Re: NOTES not showing in 2.0 wallet
« on: October 14, 2015, 03:46:03 am »
note have been removed from the bitshares network entirely .. all your funds are lost!

just kidding .. they have been "extracted" to launch MUSE in a few days .. hence you will see some days of illiquidity of NOTE/MUSE ..
keep your bts0.9 export file and pass phrase so that you can import into the MUSE client in a few weeks .. then you will see your amount of NOTEs in the MUSE client denoted as MUSE ...

Perfect!

Technical Support / NOTES not showing in 2.0 wallet
« on: October 14, 2015, 03:07:39 am »
Hey there,
I just finished transferring over my 1.0 wallet into the 2.0 Lite wallet.
Looks like all my balances are showing correctly but NOTES.  NOTES isn't even showing up at all.

I think I remember that  NOTES did it's snapshot instep with the BTS 1.0 rollover snapshot.  Is this reason for NOTES not showing in 2.0?
Will I just need wait for NOTES chain/wallet to roll out,  import my keys and reclaim my balances at that time?

Thanks for any clarification and/or help!

General Discussion / Re: Beyond Bitcoin Worker Proposal? (Poll)
« on: October 13, 2015, 01:53:47 am »
Here's what my YTD pay has been via BTS from the fuzzy.beyondbitcoin delegate.
Please note that the first payout (including some back pay) was on March 26, 2015 in the amount of 40,000 BTS and I was slated to receive future pay outs of 5,900 BTS/wk thereafter.  After the fourth BTS payment was made to me, I elected to donate 12.5% of my future payouts to help support Datasecuritynode and the MineBitshares project.  That donation worked out to be 737.5 BTS/wk.

So far the YTD breakdown is as follows...
40,000 BTS = Initial pay out
23,600 BTS = 4 weeks’ pay @ 5,900/wk (pre-donation)
129,062.5 BTS = 25 weeks of pay @ 5162.50/wk (post-donation)
---------------------------------------------------
192,562.50 BTS Total paid to emailtooaj
18,437.5 BTS = 25 weekly donations of 737.50 to MineBitshares
Grand Total payout of 211,000 BTS

Though I can't recall the exact number, I used some of my delegate funds to help the Moonstone wallet project and recently sent 1,000 BTS to Clayop in helping to support the stress test/tx flood on the 2.0 test network.
Otherwise, I've held onto every other BTS in my wallet.  Any actual USD ($) that I’ve spent out of pocket includes various DAW plug-ins, music making software, sound samples and voice recording equipment.   ATM I don’t recall the actual totals that I’ve spent?  If this is critical, needed info, I certainly will research my bank records to get you answers but, if I had to guess off the top of my head, it was approximately around $200-250 USD total.

So that was the income/expense portion of this post… now trying to figuring out how best to classify my role within Beyond Bitcoin and possibly calculate what a “fair pay” could, or should be, is a bit trickier!
Reason is this, technically I do both Audio Editing and Final Audio Mastering of the BB Hangouts.  In a real world “Studio” environment, this work is typically done by two separate people with different talents, while the Final Audio Mastering work to be considered the more “experienced” or prestigious role, hence the one who makes more salary.  Like I just mentioned, I’m doing both of these jobs myself.
With that in mind, I’ll try wrapping this into a somewhat, consolidated established baseline, so we can clearly see and make some comparisons from.  Since I currently live in the U.S. and I have U.S. living expenses; I'm going to work calculations from what a "newbie" or low to NO experience starting position would pay out for this line of work located here in the USA, aka… bottom of the barrel.
For this line of work, the entry level job is averaged on the low end at around $32,000 per yr. which can be verified here (the actual avg. Median is $43,992/yr)...
http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Audio_Engineer/Salary

With a yearly salary of $32,000/yr.(USD) this would break down as follows...
$2,666.66/mo or
$615.38/wk or $15.38/hr (based on 40hr. work week)
So based on a $15.38/hr rate... I typically spend minimum, an average of 8+ hours per week working for Beyond Bitcoin in regards of the editing and processing of Hangouts, among various other tasks.
With these figures in mind, I "should be" paid fairly a minimum of $123.07 per week, based on 8 hours of work.
Now, if we take the current BTS value of $0.006 USD (or roughly 2,400 satoshi, which is higher than previous months), then I have been paid from the Beyond Bitcoin delegate a total of $1,266.60 USD Y.T.D. (total of 30 weekly payouts) of which $110.625 USD was donated to MineBitshares as explained earlier.  So $1,266.60 minus $110.625 equals $1,155.95 for 30 weeks and that breaks down to $38.53 per week, about a 69% decrease from the minimum market rate here in the U.S.
OR, if I didn’t donate a percentage of my portion to minebitshares… then a 65% decrease from minimum.
I hope you can clearly see that I, among the rest of Beyond Bitcoin have donated A LOT of time, while getting paid WAY under market value for similar positions!
Also, as a personal side note, I’ve edited some 100+ Hangouts… the Beyond Bitcoin delegate has only “compensated” for 30!
So please don’t be foolish thinking that we’re rolling in the dough and taking advantage of our community!!
So there you have it!

I sincerely respect your opinions and hope everyone has enjoyed the professional work Beyond Bitcoin has done for our community!

Peace!  :D  emailtooaj

General Discussion / Re: Migration Guide for 1.0 to 2.0
« on: October 11, 2015, 02:00:02 am »
On Windows 8.1, v0.9.3c

I just tried to export keys from the console. Its says "ok" in the console but there is no sign of the keys.json file in the appdata/roaming/bitshares folder.

I had to run as administrator to get it to save the file on windows.  I tried entering in full path etc and nothing worked until i ran as admin.

I really dont know why this has not been fixed its going to cause so many problems come the 2.0 launch...

I am having the same problem..except I've got Win 7 Professional..even run as administrator did not help..
Is there a reason why the json file does not show up in the "appdata/roaming/bitshares" folder..?  However when I tried to do it again whether using the full path name or not.. the console says"  File already exists!!...

Does anyone know what is the command to use in the console to delete this "invisible" in Windows explorer" file?
Or does it not matter and I should just save a version of keys.json in some other location to be imported after the 13th?

This is very frustrating...It almost makes me want to leave my bts on the Exchanges....however they have given no indication as to
whether or not they are going to migrate/upgrade..!?

I think the value of BTS will increase significantly if one did not feel such apprehension and nervousness when trying to manage
one's crypto assets...(I've already given up trying to figure out what to do with some PTS left in a webwallet..)

Thanks

P.S.. As an "Average Joe" I don't comment much on the forum but I do visit as often as I can to try and keep up with what's going on...but I wish things like this migration was easier to accomplish and less nerve wracking..:-)

Hey sirlo,
Under Windows, that particular json (keys file) gets dumped into the C:/Program File section... or where ever you located/installed your Bitshares.exe file too.
It does not dump/store into the appdata/roaming folder like your normal wallet "export" does.
Hope this helps!
