BM said BTS 2.0 can reach upwards of 1M tx/sec, but that's with in the same network.  Move all those exact same computers from a single room and spread across the globe.... much different outcome!

Technical Support / Re: Importing Keys into Graphene
« on: September 26, 2015, 04:35:20 pm »
Hey there...
I'm looking to update to the 0.9.3 version from 0.9.2.
I see 0.9.3d, but not the 0.9.3c on github.
Would someone mind linking to the latest build please  :D
From what I've been reading everyone is mentioning the "C" version and there's no mention of the "D".
Is the "D" version good to go?

Thanks in advance!

I'm reminded of something Vitalik Buterin once said: "network effect follows developers". It's something that really stuck with me because it's so true. When you look at all the major platforms out there like iOS, Windows, Wordpress, etc, etc, you realize they're popular because it was easy for entrepreneurs and hobbyists to build stuff on top of them. I think the core team of developers should focus on making bitshares/graphene a platform that's easy to build on.  End of the day, chains that have lots of 3rd party development (and thus utility), will win.

But perhaps a bigger issue we face is WHO are we selling to.   Altcoin fanatics or the general public.

My opinion, they're one in the same.  At one point we were all considered the general public before becoming an Alt-fan.
WHY we became Alt-fans is the subject that should be reviewed for marketing purposes and/or FORM design.

BM, I'd be curious to know what FORM means in your mind and what you'd suggest to the public? (plus this may keep this thread from being derailed)  :P

The easiest thing to sell is simply a product that just works!  A product with a simple, easy to use interface and rock solid performance! This alone will sell the product and create buzz.
*Now I think of it, would it be a good idea to have a "customer testimonial' page with 5 star user rating?*

It's a tried and true cliche, but First Impressions Are Everything!
BTS has a second shot for this, so let's take advantage of it while it's hot!  No need for gimmicks or "special" functions to market.

If we need to market anything in specific that BTS offers,
1) Regional Specific and Stable Digital Currencies
2) Decentralized Marketplace/Exchange
3) 1-3 Second Transfer Times

Chiming in to get some Hugs!

Since my last update on August 22,  I've edited the past 4 weeks of BitShares DEV Hangouts. I hope everyone is enjoying them  :D

If this is Brownie worthy... I've also edited the Rune Hangout for Maker. This was a 2 part hangout that turned out to be an editing marathon LOL, but none the less I think it turned out well.

Average time spent...

BTS Hangouts = roughly 25hrs (4 hangouts)
Maker Hangout = roughly 10hrs (2 hangouts)

Thanks BM  :D

General Discussion / Re: Initial Witness Pay & Number of Witnesses
« on: September 22, 2015, 02:49:21 am »
IMO I think we should consider starting with 21 Witnesses @$250-300 pay rate, while also have 10-16 "stand by" Witnesses for redundancy.

I also like the idea having the witness count increase in lieu of increases in market Volume, not market cap.
Market Volume is what puts processing strain on the network, not BTS value (though market cap does have some play in this obviously) hence the reason you'd want to have High Quality and Highly reliable Witnesses running the show!
Therefore paying them well enough makes sense to me  :D

In BTS 1.0 we had a unreliable wallet with a kick ass node system.
With 2.0 rolling out, why the hell would we revert to having a kick ass wallet and a crappy low budget node system????
Defeats the purpose in my mind!

To reiterate my position.... I really, really, really like the idea of scaling nodes,  averaged by BTS Daily Volume on a monthly(?) bases.  21min floor witnesses and scale up to 37 (or more when we pass Pluto and are headed to Alpha Omega 9 Sector Z).

Well, that's where trade speculation comes into play. Yes you could sell them at lower rates for bts but, the way bts has been climbing in value and if it continues to rise then the bts u collect could be worth more in near future? That's 7500 bts you can collect now!! Obviously it's up to you how u want to proceed ;)

Technical Support / Re: !!! Stupid Questions Thread !!!
« on: September 15, 2015, 03:57:07 am »
How can I check the balance of BTS associated with a given account name (eg. a name I registered in the genesis block way back in the day)??

My stupid question is feeling lonely here... maybe it's not stupid enough?
If you saved your wallet data before u went m.i.a , then u should be able to download the 0.9.2 wallet and import that backup file and get your balance. You'll have to be more specific to get better answers because your milage may vary.

General Discussion / Re: When we will see BTC/BTS parity?
« on: September 14, 2015, 03:51:00 am »
I think the current Bitcoin price is being propped up by the mining cartel while the reality of the market is causing the downward pressure. This is why it is teetering on 'life support' at it's current levels with miners bleeding atm.

I think its the opposite.

think the bitcoin price is being propped up by tens of thousands of investors, while the mining cartel is causing the downward pressure by selling mined coins.  Because POW does nothing but inflate the coin supply.

Also, I think minebitshares is awesome, because it has the opposite effect on bitshares.  It pushes down every other POW coin while creating buying pressure for BTS.  Well done.  You are helping to push every POW coin into the abyss while aiding BTS. :)
That's the main special sauce that minebitshares offers. [emoji12]

@data
I hate to ask this, but seeing you're on top of this, if you got some spare time would you mind listing the top dead/inactive delegates. I know this will help me to clean house and maybe others?

I'll send u some bts, just pm you're address
