Glad to hear it! :)

Oh...
I butchered my safebot self as you can see. Tonyk wouldn't marry me, so I had to make myself more attractive to him.
I cut off my antenna, made myself another eye and even started wearing make-up.
Fat lot of good that did me! Where the hell is tonyk? :'( :'( :'( :'(

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: TOP 3 REASONS TO VOTE FOR A DELEGATE!

  • Because it reinforces the foundations of the network upon which BitShares is built. We don't want to stand on quicksand. We want some of the "titanium rebar with 800ksi Nycon-PVA-RF-4000 High Performance Macro Fiber reinforcement" mentioned by Stan added to the concrete mix.
  • Because my mother told Bytemaster asked me to.
  • Because all of the reasons in this thread suggest it's necessary for any conscientious member of the community, or general holder of BTS to do their duty!!!

100 Brownies sent for the most Obscure Quote of the Month Award. :)

Thanks Stan, I'm well pleased with that!
It's funny the things which stick in ones head! I had to use Google to search for that comment of yours from April 2014!

bytemaster made a comment related to this sort of thing in a mumble session some time ago. I'll have a think and see if I can work out how to find it...

General Discussion / Re: TOP 3 REASONS TO BUY BITSHARES NOW!
« on: September 03, 2015, 02:20:47 pm »
So now that so many have answered, the challenge is to come up with something new or to restate in a different way and hope nobody notices!

  • Living unobserved somewhere in the BitShares network is not any regular C.E.O., but a "Cypher-Encrypted Organism". This being allows BitShares to quickly adapt to shifting conditions as required, thereby enabling it's long-term survival. Throughout it's life BitShares will be capable of out-competing any peers through it's system of self-optimization.
  • Buy now, get bragging rights for free! The immodest can wait until BitShares is huge and then say:
    Quote
I got into BitShares when it was still in beta and BTS were three a penny! I was among a group of visionaries who helped change the world for the better!
  • If you're more modest you could:
    • Buy loads now.
    • HODL while BitShares grows, thereby supporting something which can revolutionize and improve the world.
    • Once BitShares is well established sell some BTS and use the huge amounts of money for another good cause.
    • Not brag about a thing.

edit: Ignore my solution - apparently it doesn't work:

@hadrian nope, typing the code "by hand" doesn't trigger the notification

Ignore all below!!!

If I put in my post:
Code: [Select]
[member=31]fav[/member]then I get "@fav"

This is the format I've been using. Has this notified you fav?

For people who can't or won't use scripts, perhaps they could use this method.

To get the member number just look for the "u=" in the person's profile page url (you could just hover over their name on a post of theirs).

As an example, fav's profile url is:

Code: [Select]
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=31
The "u=31" gives me the member number to use in:
Code: [Select]
[member=31]fav[/member]
I hope this is all correct and that it makes sense...

This is a pretty big deal, in that PayPoint are all over the place in the UK, and used by a lot of people. ZipZap used to have a partnership with them which allowed people to easily buy bitcoin, but PayPoint pulled out wanting more regulatory clarification (see here). ZipZap now use the not so ubiquitous payzone.

I think it would be well worth making sure that BitShares is on the radar of PayPoint (and perhaps also ZipZap). I don't know if anyone's contacted ZipZap before about BitShares... I'll try to find out later when I'm not on a cellphone!

Thanks for this Barry. By the way, you've put PayPal instead of PayPoint at one point in your post.

edit: to add mention of payzone above.

Technical Support / Re: What does Sharedrop mean?

What does sharedrop mean?

If 'Dropcoin' does a sharedrop on 'Targetcoin', people who have Targetcoins can claim some Dropcoins. (This would usually be in proportion to the amount of Targetcoins they have)

General Discussion / Re: Announcing Brownie Points (BROWNIE.PTS)
« on: August 12, 2015, 11:51:58 pm »
You will want to make sure you claim your BROWNIE.PTS because it would just be rude to refuse the BROWNIE.PTS and one day you may regret it; Karma can be a Bitch.

I delayed making this post because it's a little embarrassing to compare the paltry amount of value I've added, with the achievements of many others around here. Nevertheless, I don't want to miss out on whatever amount of brownies might be deemed suitable for my relatively limited contribution.

I've prioritised BitShares (after family life and employment) during any time I can scrounge together. Bearing in mind I have no technical background, here is an overview of my general approach towards BitShares over the last couple of years.

  • Bought Protoshares when they were expensive!
  • Joined forum and donated to AGS in Feb 2014.
  • Put a lot of time into learning from others about BitShares and related subjects, so I can gradually increase my contribution to the community.
  • Tried to be constructive, helpful and positive on this forum.
  • Encouraged people around me to look into BitShares.
  • Remained a 'strong hand' w.r.t. all things BitShares.

Here are examples of my attempts at being constructive on this forum:

I think I can stop scraping the barrel now - there are no more brownie crumbs in here for me!! :-[
