That works, thanks.

@Tuck Fheman - does this notify you?

@hadrian no that's not my forum id #. but whoever is user 8741 probably got notified. ;)

Is this what you mean by:

I have to manually enter the member number bbcode to mention someone
?

Yes

Are you sure your mentions are working? Would you like to try it with me?
I have no clue (assumed it did) if it works when I manually add them, did you get mine above?

Yeah, sorry Mr. Fheman, I gotted your ID wrong  :-[

I used the 'manual method' in the past, then fav told me that it doesn't work. Today I thought possibly something had changed so it might work now but, as fav said again, it still doesn't work - I got no notification about your mention of me.  :'(
I think you'll find that nobody you've mentioned has been notified @Tuck Fheman

I could try getting the automatic method to work, but I don't want to spend the time on it unless others confirm that it is now working for normal users.

could someone other than mod/admin test the mention function please? looks like it works for normal users

@Tuck Fheman @bulletproof

It notifies me fine.

I have to manually enter the member number bbcode to mention someone, if that matters.

@Tuck Fheman - does this notify you?

I'm not getting any automated drop downs or anything, but am using this method manually.

I was doing this before and apparently it didn't work...

General Discussion / Re: Where to buy BTS?
« on: September 21, 2015, 04:55:35 pm »
Please help, can't find solid and trustable exchange site
If you have BTC, LTC, or DOGE, you can safely buy some BTS from http://blocktrades.us. We are a "currency converter", rather than a matchup exchange, so we don't hold customer funds longer than necessary to confirm it before we send you the converted output coin. We also accept credit card orders for amounts over 10 BTC.

How would one go about placing a credit card order? Using the phone number on the website?

Hello habeler,
I saw your comment in the mumble session just now:

I wish to see a feature to transfer name

I just want to let you know that BitShares 2.0 will have the ability to transfer account names. There are many benefits that come with this feature, but for me the main one is enhanced security. Essentially you'll be able to change your keys regularly as a precaution or if you think you've been breached somehow...

Another feature to check out is Dynamic Account Permissions.

General Discussion / Re: [FYI] BitPay Hacked, 5 000 Bitcoins Stolen
« on: September 17, 2015, 07:00:54 pm »
The article has a misleading title.
Essentially, it seems the CEO of BitPay manually transferred the bitcoins. Someone had hacked the CFO's email account and used that to request the CEO to carry out the transfers.

The announcements are coming fast now!  Thanks for waiting until I got the last of my money in, hehe.

Yeah, it seems like Stan's stepping up the pace here. Do you think we could get daily announcements until launch? That'd be pretty extreme!
I wonder how many people are gonna go 'all in' in the build up. Hmmm...

And don't get me started on the mean airspeed velocity of African vs. European swallows...

Are they carrying coconuts? That dose matter in the Caribbean.

I don't know...

Sure, if they carried it between two of them on a blockchain gripped by their dorsal feathers...

Like this?

I think so, Brain, but wouldn't that throw their CMde stability derivative way off?

I fixed that for you   ;)

PLEASE!!!! I'm not interested...
Will you ask your master if he wants to join my court at Camelot?

Funnily enough, Camelot is the licensed operator of the UK National Lottery!

The problem:
  • This thread is now 'hidden' well away from the limelight (BitShares Forum » BitShares » Trading & Speculation » User Issued Assets (UIA) » Re: Announcing Brownie Points (BROWNIE.PTS) )

I think a locked sticky with a link to this thread would be best.

With a flashing red light animated gif shaped like the Brownie Point icon and arrows that jump up and down and highlighted capitalized text that glows and blinks while scrolling!!?
=b

What on Earth is wrong with you ?!

You neglected to mention the bells and whistles...

General Discussion / Re: Announcing Brownie Points (BROWNIE.PTS)
« on: September 11, 2015, 06:48:16 pm »
I see potential for a significant number of people in the BitShares community to become upset in the future, and further potential for this to harm the progress of BitShares a little if people feel too upset.

The problem:
  • This thread is now 'hidden' well away from the limelight (BitShares Forum » BitShares » Trading & Speculation » User Issued Assets (UIA) » Re: Announcing Brownie Points (BROWNIE.PTS) )
  • There may be people who are not yet aware of brownies who would be 'eligible' (e.g. did a lot of work but weren't around when this thread was prominent). Have brownies been announced sufficiently on other language boards?
  • People may say, "The brownie club was set up and hidden before I knew about it, and now a few people have too much money/ power/ control with x, y, z...".

Possible solutions:
  • Put a sticky somewhere more prominent with a link to this thread
  • Send a P.M. to all forum members
  • Anything else to raise awareness       edit: more accurately, to ensure that there persists some relatively prominent avenue to enable discovery

Of course brownies have proved a bit controversial so people will argue that they have no automatic right to a prominent place in the forum.
You could say that bytemaster obviously has some plans for their use which will benefit  those who've played a role in growing BitShares. Therefore it's in the interest of people on this forum to be made more aware of brownies...

What's the best balance here, i.e. where should brownies fit in with BitShares and in particular this forum?

Why only 2 factor and not multi-factor? If the security of Bitshares is less than the security on exchanges then people will use exchanges.

On the other hand I also know there is an slight deadline for 2.0 so I suppose it's better to release with 2 factor in October than to delay over it. I just think this should be a priority for future releases.

https://blog.perfectcloud.io/two-factor-vs-multi-factor-authentication-a-stark-difference-2/

What exchange uses multifactor authentication?

Are we talking about 2fa for logging in to exchanges? Loads of exchanges allow for this...

To anyone who's contributed in the past and is coming back to the forum after a while away...

It may be worth taking a look at this thread. You may not want to miss out on brownie points...
