Thank you Max! I am looking forward to watching this!

I don't mean to be confrontational. : ) I agree, spoken word leaves far less to be misunderstood. And the mumble space is a great tool that I hope gets more and more use. I only mean to bring light, to dispel the idea that getting the public together is the more efficient / productive use of time. The forum is a good example of this. more than 50% of the public has nothing useful to contribute and will happily waste your time, piss and bicker, for as long as you are willing to give it to them. Private, select, focused groups, will always out perform the public. That was my only agenda / angle in saying that.
The above sentiment isnt meant in regards to this meeting, and I hope not to detract from it. : )
I always look forward to mumble sessions, because you never know whats going to come up. I'm also extremely interested in hearing from the Chinese folks. I will definitely try and make the meeting. Thank you for putting this on, it's appreciated.
You are correct. I also think this event might actually contain elements of discussion about the elephant in the room at some point.
I'm not going to push that personally, but it might seem to be something worth considering.
I won't prohibit people from expressing themselves. In fact, I think it is important that we start to establish a regular "real-time" vocal dialogue, because the forums have an obvious history of being an ineffective tool when it comes to clear communication. There's a reason why diplomatic relations are best conducted around a table and in person. We will try the next best thing - a virtual conference.
They are also typically in private.

BitShares Community,
On Saturday, February 28th, at 11a.m. EST, I will be co-hosting a “meet & greet” for eastern and western community members with fuzzy on the Mumble server. This will be an opportunity for each of us to introduce ourselves, talk about our personal interests, our skills and talents, or to say a few words about why we are a part of BitShares.
Everyone is welcome to attend, and everyone will have the opportunity to speak if they wish. Our purpose is not to discuss the details of current projects or debate recent events, but rather to give each person the chance to tell us about themselves, their peer groups, or their professional organization.
Hundreds of people are now working for BitShares. Whether you are a volunteer, a paid delegate, or simply watching with curiosity or waiting for the right opportunity to get more involved, you probably want to feel that your efforts are recognized and valuable. This will only be possible if we are willing to connect, hear each other's stories, and allow ourselves to recognize that we all face similar challenges.
BitShares is unique in the cryptocurrency space because we collectively recognize that “trust” is not a bad thing. To honor and respect this critical human necessity, we have wisely chosen to build a protocol which balances trust with accountability. This does not mean it will work automatically. At this critical juncture, it is vitally important for our growth as a community that we work extra hard at cultivating an atmosphere of patience, mutual respect, friendly cooperation, and professionalism. If we work to develop stronger bonds of trust, our ability to quickly overcome any future events of emotional turmoil will improve.
I am reaching out to the chinese community, the nullstreet community, the Blacksburg community, and BitShares supporters on all seven continents. If you cannot attend, or do not wish to speak aloud, fuzzy or I will read your written message to the community at the end of the hangout. We ask that you keep the message brief, perhaps 100 – 150 words, and PM the message to @fuzzy on bitsharestalk.org by 9am EST on Saturday. If you only wish to listen, you are also most welcome to attend.
It seems we have attracted innovators, visionaries and natural leaders from many countries who all wish to stake their claim in this exciting new economic paradigm. Let us set a good example by showing the world that we are strong in our principals, yet flexible enough to hear each others voices.
I hope to see you all there!
Michael
Noone has messaged me with anything so I'm assuming it has either gone to cryptoprometheus or will be given there.
BM really seemed to enjoy the hangouts and sharing his thoughts on the forum. Could that new "communication strategy" really come from him, or are we really facing a Chinese whale threatening to dump and kill BitShares price if open communication continues ? This sucks on so many levels, but the worst part is that openness and freedom is what we're supposed to stand for.
This has nothing to do with some Chinese whale . In fact , many Chinese are not whales comparing to the truck load of AGS fund .
I'll attend to the meeting to help clear thing up , to share some thoughts on this .
In fact this is about everyone in this community to play a different role in the system , to take action to support BM and not just by words , to take action to become the voice of this community instead of putting the whole pressure on one single guy . We need guys like Fuzzy to unite the community , we need guys like Xeroc to help provide technical aspect to the public , we need guys from Nullstreet to help marketing and PR , we need guys like Gentso to help business development .
We need to support BM by building a stronger eco-system , not just some fans waiting for his thoughts on subjects . We need to become the thoughts ourselves , so that one day no one would criticize BM for saying something wrong , because by then we'll already have a stronger , united , and capable community that can stand much stronger storm .
This is what BitShares really stands for . Everyone to do their part , we're not the little guys from the community waiting for the big guys like BM to give us guidance . We're the big guys , as big as BM ,even with small stakes that we have in the system . Someday our roles , are even bigger than BM .
Is anyone objecting me to attend ?
61 bitUSD were given away (to 61 people) at a meetup in Buenos Aires yesterday too, so some new ones could be form there. At the next giveaway in 2 weeks time there will be tracking set up so we will know have the new account numbers from the event recorded.
I listened to his debate with Andreas Antanopolous. I don't find his views to be "awesome" at all. He appears to hold a Keynesian model as his economic paradigm, and therefore is antithetical to everything we are trying to accomplish. As you have said in another thread and context: "Be careful what you wish for". (unless you want to live in a "socialist paradise")
He is, however, gaining rock star status because of his opposition to the European Union troika. So it will be counterproductive to openly oppose him - even though with his government's philosophy the cure is worse than the disease.
We have the solution. not Keynesian socialists.
Developer Questions:
1. Who is still working full time within the core development team?
Did that help you crypto_p?
