Yunbi should add some trade fee because right now there is a majority of trades on their platform that are being executed by the same person on each side. So it says on coinmarket cap they have more trade volume than btc38 in the last 24 hours but that isn't really true.

General Discussion / Re: The Bitshares SUPERbull thread

We had a minor rally on btc38, which could mean anything.  if you shorted ~0.05 cny/bts you're no longer in the red.

If a seasoned exchange like Bter won't make a qualified on & off ramp in your eyes, which one could?

 +5%

Bter has been forthcoming  and recovered well from their NXT hacked.  Now they are facing their second crisis but yet again they are forthcoming  with updates.  Bter has a good following of Chinese community.  Bter was a big exchange for bts before the hack.  If Bter does well, BTS does well too.

Bter has real world licenses that could be used to perform fiat <-> bts and fiat <-> bitUSD/bitCNY ie on/off-ramp.  If BTS buy out Bter, it gives a big boost to bter (ie increase confidence in their finances) and a huge marketing buzz to BTS  (finally a on/off-ramp!).   This solves a big problem for BTS. Win-Win.

Agreed. BTER as on/off-ramp would be epic. Their sevice was always good and reliable.

Snapswap, Coinbase, and Circle are all better on/off ramps than Bter in my opinion. Coinbase and Circle have professional KYC protocol and allow instant btc buys with credit card with daily / weekly limits. Snapswap uses KnoxPayments to let you make instant bank deposits of $300 per day at 1% fee from more than 15 major banks, onto the ripple network in USD.snapswap. And Snapswap also lets make withdrawals from the ripple network directly to a paypal account.

General Discussion / Re: How to prevent yield harvesting?
« on: February 13, 2015, 12:30:08 am »
yield is low because of the terms of the loan. if you could borrow bitUSD that comes due in 1 year, there would be more competition for that type loan, and thus higher interest/yield. But the problem having shorts that expire indefinitely, or in 12 months, is that BitUSD becomes less redeemable. And the point of BitUSD is that it can be redeemed for $1 worth of bitshares any time..

delegate registration fee is good measure. +5%. what if it took a year to remove a delegate lol. that would be painful. anyways our voting system will just get better. I have confidence. it's an interesting experiment in progress.

DAC PLAY / Re: [Announcement]BitShares PLAY Crowdfunding
« on: December 26, 2014, 10:39:51 pm »
crowd selling a portion of playshares is a good way to jumpstart development I would think, so I am for it. I'm not sure you can necessarily raise the same amount of funds in the same time period with dilution. Although if the DAC is going to use the bitshares codebase,  I do like the idea of a version 0.1 early release with basic functionality for exchanges to list. This would allow developers to start getting paid by playshares earlier rather than later... but I'm concerned that early dilution for developer pay, with no actual product yet, could be harmful to the share value.

if the crowd sale does happen I also strongly support the idea of crowd selling shares for bitUSD. Playshares would be reinforcing bitshares banking functionality by adopting bitUSD for the crowd sale. It would be a positive early sign to me... as a bitshares investor... that playshares wants to work with bitshares rather than compete against it in its current market niche.

PTS holders were the earliest investors in bitshares. good for them... good for jshow555  :) maybe it got too much to his head though.

how is btc38 going to sell the bitCNY at the peg? with BitUSD you can't sell at the peg at any time reliably. Only when shorts expire, and market bids for bitUSD are placed at the peg.

would be cool if btc38 could pass on interest on their bitcny customer deposits somehow

if you have POW with 20s target, you could have delegates still responsible to broadcast a signed block if a POW block is not submitted within 30s. POW block could take preference over signed block in the fork situation. the majority of blocks would end up mined, the minority signed. not sure what %.

General Discussion / Re: ripple rally

Ripple is a great project but I'd like to understand better why Ripple currency (XRP) is needed there. As I see, the gateways use other existing currencies, either fiat (USD, EUR, etc) or crypto (BTC), and XRP is needed only if you want trade an exotic pair for which a market doesn't exist. Other than that, holding XRP gives no interest or dividends and it's not likely that XRP will be accepted by merchants even if the Ripple project succeeds. Am I missing something?

It is a confusing question.. at some point the security of the network might move to a form of proof-of-stake. banks that conduct forex transactions on the ripple network will want to have some XRP's to have a say.. in the system they use / depend on. for their self interest. also ripple network should make a profit for facilitating forex trades. I think it already destroys XRP in some ways, which is equivalent to profits paid back to shareholders.

I'm still not won over by share-dropping on bts... how does sharedrop on bts help bitshares.. I don't get it. it's like, if Dell promise dell laptop to everyone with apple stocks at certain date. would apple company appreciate this strange offer.. I think it's market manipulation. as a holder of bitshares I don't appreciate unasked for share drops.

new idea: issue fixed amount user-issued-tokens per day, to bts users that send bitUSD to funding address. ags style fundraiser on bts chain. redeem these tokens for shares in DAC when it launches. here you are helping bitshares  by adopting its bitUSD making bitshares more valuable since it collateralizes more bitUSD. development funds held in bitUSD I assume need not be converted to dollars all at once, and will be destroyed gradually to pay development expense.

hmm but I guess the point is sparkes doesn't need to raise development funds.. but anyways for a DAC that does.

General Discussion / Re: ripple-style IOU gateway functionality!
« on: November 25, 2014, 04:10:52 am »
cool. also I'm waiting for bitUSD to come to the ripple ledger. but maybe a bitAsset that tracks oil price would have more demand on the ripple ledger. since.. they don't have oil IOU's yet.
