Yes, thanks, I saw that recent thread. Just wondering if they had ever decided if/how to sharedrop on this community.

General Discussion / Re: Promotional Material?
« on: January 04, 2016, 05:01:54 am »
I agree we need a better promotional landing page; it would really help with referral marketing. Poor cass is great with the graphic design, but only can put up there what people provide, and it's been a while since a marketing person had any real hand in this. The best one we had was probably @Method-X  's whatisbitusd.com, but I think it's no longer active. He did a good job explaining its features in plain English. As soon as we started marketing BitShares as a currency, though, the core team shifted focus to 2.0. There were so many problems with the technology then it was hard to sell anyway. Basically it's more of an exchange than a currency now. If you want to develop a landing site yourself, then check with Method, since he is a marketing pro and he may have something you can start with.

General Discussion / Re: Q1 Roadmap for CNX
« on: January 03, 2016, 06:43:38 am »
Thank you for the road map and for breaking it down so we can see (and ultimately vote on) the pieces. Lately, I've been critical of MAS, but I appreciate your clarification that it is a background project and hopefully a revenue generator for CNX. (I really do hope it works; I just do not want it to eclipse higher priority projects.)

The four elements of this road map address areas of need and they will strengthen our core business. You have my support.

General Discussion / Re: Regarding MAS and my Vision
« on: January 02, 2016, 03:01:42 am »
I like the subject, "my" vision, instead of BitShares vision.

IMHO, DEX is almost done except two things. 1) Better API for third party developers/market makers. 2) Percentage based fee for greater network/referrer's profit

Can you wrap up these two things before diving into MAS vision?

I endorse this post and also would like to know your responses.

I have not been able to log into OL today. I've used it regularly for months now, but suddenly my password does not get me in. Light client works.

EDIT: Just tried same thing in another browser and can't even load the OL page. Clearly some issues remain.

I would keep it just because others may come with similar questions and need similar help.

General Discussion / Re: Mutual Aid Society [BLOG POST]

Take a random sample of 1000 people.  Try to sell them dex vs mas and I bet you will have 10x success with mas.

When the MAS exists within the confines of this system, requiring Bitcoin gateways to even get started and expecting people to put their trust in blockchains (which they neither understand nor trust), see how much success you have with those 1000 people. And it's trying to cater to a crowd of people who are among the most suspicious and distrusting folks you will meet. Look, I hope it works, but it's not an easy sell. I'd rather we get good at one or two things before trying fifteen more.

So I would like someone to explain how they see MAS as more useful/profitable. I honestly don't see the potential here.

You and me both. MAS would be about #158 on my list of things that ought to get done. The word "profitable" was a major tenet of BitShares when it first started. We were going to show the world how a business could function effectively on the blockchain. But there's nothing profitable about one pet project after another. Does anyone honestly think MAS is going to bring in users? Very few. Essentially, it will be a club for those xisting insiders who want to join. Personally, I'm not interested in joining and I'm not interested in funding it when we still have not achieved our original DAC objectives.

General Discussion / Re: An alternative vision for Bitshares 2016
« on: January 01, 2016, 12:38:14 am »
Sure it's cool to be decentralized, but in the end it's just a gimmick if that's our only superior feature. I like the MAS idea, but I feel like bytemaster just made it up a couple days ago and now we're abandoning our focus as Samupaha said. The real way to change the world is not by putting out a bunch of small projects that aren't perfect, but by revolutionizing and perfecting one aspect of our business at a time. We can get to MAS, but first we need to build the markets...

Exactly. Very well said.

I've tried to ask how fast MAS can be up and running but so far neither Bytemaster or Stan haven't answered. I suspect that it will take so much work that we don't see any meaningful benefit from it in 2016. I put it in the "long term projects" category.

Your ideas are great Samupaha! Let's get doing what you've suggested. It seems to me to be mostly aligned with BM's vision anyway.

Yeah, the biggest difference is the focus. I really wouldn't like to see much resources poured into MAS project at this point.

I don't believe one needs to be a hippy to employ reason to conclude that humans can organise themselves differently and in such a way that peace is one of many outcomes. Peace  ;D

I just find the hippie rhetoric to be usually kind of embarassing when the real subject is business. Better to use some other expressions to communicate.

I'm with you, 100%.
