General Discussion / Error in AGS distribution/AGS explorer
« on: October 22, 2014, 04:25:05 am »
I have uncovered a problem with the AGS explorer allocation. Some of my AGS donations are not accounted for.

Here is my PTS wallet output:
http://www1.agsexplorer.com/balances/PiunA5mHJkWYKRcyjT2jVwAefRQqD4NwGf?view=merged

It shows that I have 94 AGS. The AGS explorer has shown 94 AGS since the summer. Back in June I thought it was a glitch that would eventually fix itself. So haven't bothered to check it over the past few months.

The problem is that I actually have 1071.27184719 AGS in my wallet.

getagsbalance returns 1071.27184719

I have an export of my PTS wallet showing the dates and amounts of my AGS donations:

The donation dates and amounts recorded in my wallet are not reflected in the AGS explorer link above.

I discovered the problem today when I downloaded the Key ID and imported my PTS wallet in preparation for the Nov 5 merger.  I received about 94,000 DNS in my Key ID account.

But I actually have over a thousand AGS, so shouldn't I have something over a million DNS?

Seems like a problem.

General Discussion / Here’s What the Bank of England Thinks of BitsharesX
« on: September 11, 2014, 11:12:57 pm »
Well, they didn't actually mention BitsharesX by name, but it's obvious describing it from the WSJ quote:

Quote
an important technological advance that could be a game changer. One day.

The bank says it foresees a possible future in which a bitcoin-type decentralized payment structure might well be applied to the existing financial system infrastructure. To, say, allow the equivalent of cash transactions between individuals, but using traditional currencies in electronic form. Or trading shares or other securities. Or applied to physical assets like gold where no centralized ledger currently exists.

And if the BOE and the writers at WSJ have never heard of BitsharesX, that makes it even more interesting: I am sure they'll be surprised when the realize the future already happened when the BTSX chain was launched.

Somebody ought to tell them.

Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne

Question: "When is Overstock going to move their shares over to the blockchain?"

Byrne:
Quote
"Funny you say that.... I would consider issuing a security... just to get the first bitcoin security or blockchain security out there. I am also exploring the possibility... we're listed on NASDAQ, but can we be dual-listed....it's possible in the states you can be listed on more than one exchange... I believe we could list on a blockchain kind of exchange. And I have some lawyers... they're talking to two different parties. And if anyone here has a technology or has a solution, call collect. But I would love... at the very list to take our current NASDAQ-traded security and dual-list it... and I would also be interested... in issuing a bond or something... and be the first to list this kind of security."

I would guess his lawyers are talking to Mastercoin and/or XCP developers.

Here's a backgrounder on Patrick Byrne:

He and his lawyers need to know about Bitshares.

With the latest technologies that enable transparent decentralized ledgers, it is now possible for artists to sell shares in the their songs rather than copies of their songs.

Keyhotee / Keyhotee plugin: tax accounting software
« on: April 01, 2014, 10:28:49 pm »
IRS bitcoin guidance: every transaction must be reported annually as capital gain or loss.

http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-14-21.pdf?utm_source=3.31.2014+Tax+Alert&utm_campaign=3.31.14+Tax+Alert&utm_medium=email

If Keyhotee is my wallet, then it could track my payments and run an IRS-compliant program that calculates my capital gain or loss at the time of sale. At the end of the year, I can print out a full accounting report and use it for tax preparation.

Lemons to lemonade.
