Hmm, would it be possible to write a market-pegging module that would allow us to access just what we need from someone else's json (jsonp) file online?
If that's possible, then I could spend some time researching this and maybe find a few sources, a few more for backups, etc..

I'm all for it. We would need some good price feed information for the updated commodity prices. A number of us have tried hard to find something for oil, for example, but they can be tough to find. If you use an index or ETF of some sort as your benchmark, some of these are trademarked and would require license fees before they give us access to their feeds.

Gasoline, Diesel and Oil YUK!
But only gold and silver for Earth-friendly bitAssets?
 
From a PR perspective, how close are we to seeing cotton, wheat, corn and rice in there?
I just can't bring myself to buy any of the yucky stuff.
