I was going through some academic literature and am constantly being bombarded with paywalls to access academic content. Surely there must be a better way for authors/publishers to make money without barring people from accessing knowledge.
A publisher would make journal articles freely available and launch an altcoin for each article it publishes (an alt coin where the price pegs the value of the research).
If the research becomes more influential and is therefore cited many times the value of the article increases and consequently the price of the alt coin.
Authors and publishers can profit from this through buying early/some kind of 'pre-mine' incentive etc.
EDIT: never-mind, I've been pointed to AP,DAC which is very similar
