Mobile Responsive is def important for SEO.  The smaller the site file is the better.  Speed of loading site is equally important.

...but due the new delegate programm and the possibilites, i'm hoping to see dozens of sites out there in a few weeks/month
+5% since there is no invictus anymore. Anyone (those that run as paid delegates would have the ressources) can make a site and promote BitShares to an different target group and make money by being paid as a delegate.

I would LOVE to see Methodx doing that since he has great ideas and a solid practicable perspective on doing business!

Bitshares may be novel ground but how can dozens of potentially conflicting messages be anything but confusing and damaging? I'm interested to know if such a strategy has ever worked successfully?

cass,

Can you add click functionality to the down arrow on the front page?

It looks like it can be clicked to scroll down.

Going to give my honest feedback. Not happy with this. Its exactly as i feared; people who go on this site will have no idea what bitshares actually is, and all they'll see are emotionally loaded words instead of any real explanation or description.

I especially don't like the headline. Why not just have the name first, then put the buzzwords underneath? Verbing the product name just seems so tacky and forced.

Also the answer to the tagline question is going to be "because I have no clue what bitshare means". If you want to have a cheeky question like this then it should at least be at the bottom, after a proper description.

The pictures have no relation to the product either, other than showing some computers. Some people might be able to guess that this is a sell page for software but many will get to the bottom and still have zero clue what the entire thing is for.

for this you have to ask which target groups we're trying to reach ... as said before … when we want to hit mainstream… the average user doens't want to know how it works ..
he want's to know that it works ... Guess most of paypal users don't know whats go behind the scenes ...

If i may ask.. which image language you would go with ?... Problem IMO is if you want it like it is .. completely technical …then you can't catch the *masses with it … they aren'T interested in this technical stuff ...

but thx for your input

No, Rune is absolutely correct. It's obvious you guys are trying to target my parents but the problem is my parents will never be interested in Bitshares unless I set up an account for them and explain what it is. You guys have your target audience completely wrong; you should be speaking to likely early adopters. As a marketer, if I send traffic to bitshares.org, there is no way it will convert into either wallet downloads or buyers because it fails to explain what the concept actually is in any meaningful way. It's just a mash of buzzwords. Be clear, not clever.

I could not agree more. This is a slick looking brochure that achieves pretty much nothing.

Example:
"Low cost
How do you avoid a swarm of killer fees?
Eliminate the middle men, overhead and bloated profits of traditional banks. Truly buzzworthy."

What does that mean? What is the point?

I had an idea for a way to keep the emotional selling propositions, but also have some real details on the introductory pages. How about with every scroll, in addition to the buzzword text there's also a "fact box" with some technical information pertaining to that selling point? It will create more clutter, but it might help customers feel like they're dealing with a real product. Perhaps it is worth a try. This is my ideas for how the frontpage could be done, keeping the current style and pictures. I'm not satisfied with the text I've come up with, but I still think it's better than the current text (which also feels unfinished). Perhaps someone could improve on this further?

I feel the same way.

The UI looks nice enough but there's no clear explanation as to what BitShares is.  I'd much rather have content then flashy pictures that don't have anything to do with the product.  There is no clear target audience here.  I'd go so far as to say their is no target audience at all.  If I didn't already know about BitShares I would only be more confused after going to this site.  The focus should be the software; that is the deliverable.  Without the software it's nothing but idealism.

Check out bitreserve.org and use their messaging as a starting point.

Bitreserve is basically a centralized version of BitShares.  They currently have $7mil in funding (seeking $10mil more) so I assume they have a much larger and better funded marketing team.  Use their messaging as an example.  Let their marketing dollars work for BitShares.

I agree. I think at this point we need to target early adopters/more sophisticated audience. Overall the landing page looks good - nice and sleek, but let's provide early adopters with some more info.

Also I think we are completely missing another very important group - developers. BitShares is most advanced crypto platform, ultimate money API, let's communicate this better to developers. I would put DEVELOPERS link before MERCHANTS - we expect developers to build tools that would be used by merchants.
And probably there should be a special page targeting TRADERS, so we can have these links on top:
TRADERS MERCHANTS DEVELOPERS
each link leads to special landing page targeting this specific group.
So bitshares.org front page targets general audience, the one who can put himself into more specific category would click it on the top link to read information more specific to him. Or if marketing campaign targets specific group it can directly link to more specialized landing page.

Oh I really love this idea. It could go on the front page as well, bitshares is ALWAYS ready to hire the best in the industry to help improve the product. Our product is the best, because our developers are the best.

Yes you're right about that when you start ... but later on if you want to develop on top of this ... then  more coding skills are needed ...
As everytime the main problem is time we not had… if you want to develop a wp theme with these possibilites to scale with the community…
you minimal need:

- min. 8-10 days screendesigns & revisions
- min. 8-10 days for implementing screendesigns and transforming into a theme (you have to develop both - front,- & backend of theme)

on a 1-2 man show…just said

...but due the new delegate programm and the possibilites, i'm hoping to see dozens of sites out there in a few weeks/month :)

So are you supplied content by the marketing team? Were you given the 8-10 weeks lead time to put this together?

I ask this becuase bts merger was brought up on oct 19.  Which by your time frame means you were given a impossible task from the start.

f*** my mistake oh no - i mean days ... sry man ... doh

edit: corrected on both my post and your quote ...

lol I don't even notice it was a mistake, I was just going to take your word thats how long it took.

So 20 days is a rough time frame to build a site.

Thats really pretty good and explains alot.

I saw you had a thread posted asking to get your on forum subsection where you can go to get a clear take of peoples ideas, quickly and easily. Hopefully one of the mods will listen and create this for you as it can only help you complete your tasks. I tried to get in touch with bitsappphire about a week ago but I met with no success. I hope your plea does not fall on deaf ears.

First thanks for working on the site to get this done.

It seems like you have a great amount of feed back so I will leave that to others as you have some good suggestions here.I did want to add the sizing  is off on the main page when viewing in chrome on a google nexus phone, the N and D in Sound is cut off. The links display at the top but the text color and background color are to close to the same and its barley visible.

I only have one question, is Cass the only person actually working on the site? Let me clarify, is he the only one with hands on the keyboard, uploading and creating images and doing the coding?

It's a wordpress theme, so anyone can be given access to change the content. The coding is very minimal.

Yes you're right about that when you start ... but later on if you want to develop on top of this ... then  more coding skills are needed ...

Would love to see a video on the front page of how it all works. I like the design, however, I'm still not sure what is Bitshares.
