Anybody signed an agreement? Do we gave to MS any BTS  rights to let us get on Azure?  :o

As the community member that submitted the initial pull request to Microsoft for the BitShares Template, I can resolve this question with a definitive "No, BitShares is not granted to Microsoft."  Further, it is not the intention of Microsoft to 'own' any of these blockchain submissions, rather sell compute time on their Azure platform.  Please note, as an individual I signed a contribution clause with Microsoft prior to submitting the template that basically said I would not knowingly upload anything malicious.  Cass would have signed the same statement when he corrected the spelling in the Readme file a few hours after my original submission.

Please review the Contribution Guide Microsoft provide for BaaS submissions for further details of the requirements:
https://github.com/Azure/azure-quickstart-templates/tree/master/1-CONTRIBUTION-GUIDE

BitShares running on Azure remains bound to the same MIT license contained within the source repository.

Respectfully,
Fox

thanks for clarification  :)

The developers of NEM are very skeptical about their integration...

We spent a considerable amount of time getting this done. Unfortunately,
at the last stage of our submission we were shown the agreement.
In the agreement, to put our solution up there, requires us to give away all our rights.
This is not quite palatable.

What if all these pumps with each blockchain that got into Azure was being backed by Microsoft itself as a way to get everyone to give up their rights so they could get into the network without realizing all the consequences?

Lets be honest.. is anybody here surprised at all.. this is Microsoft after all.

I don't understand how anyone would have the authority to sign away any rights to the BitShares blockchain  over to Microsoft. Is NEM different?

Any update for Azure announcement ??
The Pull Request is pending some minor updates within my template to ensure forward compatibility and incorporate a newer API version/format.  I expect this to be completed by day's end and to then be approved by the release manager for publication to Azure BaaS.

Is this the right link? https://github.com/Azure/azure-quickstart-templates/pull/1364

Below is another revision, as I prepare to send it off for (hopeful) inclusion in the upcoming blog post this week.  I've attempted to highlight many attributes within BitShares, without diving into details.  Foremost, I want to ensure the content is accurate.  As we all know, to understand BitShares is to undertake quite a steep learning curve.  Let's invite those future conversations.

Quote
The BitShares blockchain is a Financial Services platform for SmartCoins coupled with a decentralized asset exchange. SmartCoins are price-stable digital assets pegged to the current value of various currencies, commodities, stocks and other financial instruments within a derivatives market.  This is accomplished by sourcing pricing information from world financial markets, then publishing it to the blockchain to inform the decentralized asset exchange.  Markets are made between any asset pairs therein on a serialized order book to mitigate frontloading.  The industrial-grade blockchain currently operates at a 3-second block interval with peaks to thousands of transaction per second. BitShares accomplishes this speed while maintaining transaction and identity security through a unique democratic consensus algorithm.

BitShares is delivering today on the promises of blockchain functionality, scalability and speed.  Spin up an Ubuntu VM with the software to get connected in about 15 minutes.
