There's another way to access the GUI:
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares/Clients#Web-Frontend

it's what the QT-client does anyway ... it requires only minimal manual efforts .. give it a try

That's odd .. does the GUI work better after you have opened the wallet in the terminal version?
Do you get any error messages of some kind?
nope..stays the same.  once i input my passphrase and click unlock
seems to have a grey box appear and disappear very quickly, then no response.
and I dont seems to be able to anything with the GUI likes create new account
i checked the log, and didnt notice any error in p2p, rpc, blockchain, default log :(

+edit: i dont have any problem using the console with the commands, just GUI
probably can be resolved by re-install the windows client, but im lazy to do it now, I shall try again when there's a new version

i still cannot open my windows client wallet.
it was on 0.8, but when check for update, it shows no latest version.
i then checked in bitshares website and install the latest 0.9.2

i started the console version, bitshares_client.exe
there are active connections to the p2p network, and it is in sync.
type getinfo, it shows last sync. 8 sec.

but still i cannot open my wallet, same issue as in my first thread, after click unlock, seems to have one grey box appear but quickly fade away.
i cannot export my wallet too (maybe i still cannot unlock), it shows an error, and i have sent the report.
but i also cannot create new account, after click no response
use bitshares_client.exe and type "open default" when you see ">>>" to open your wallet ...
you cal also unlock you wallet with "unlock 999999" for 999999 seconds .. and you will need to provide your password (will not be echoed in the console)

after that the wallet will rescan the blockchain for transactions for you and print the progress in the console (or alternatively you can check with "getinfo")
If something is wrong with you wallet the client will tell you

I was able to log back in after:

1. Deleting my .json wallet files (after backing up in multiple spots) in the APPDATA bitshares directory.
2. Importing the most recent backup file.
3. It took a few tries, but it worked the last time for me.

That did not work Xeroc. :(

I've spent too much time on it, I'll update if I find a fix.
version 0.9.0 was released yesterday .. you should try that one .. it fixes ALOT of bugs

Okay, I think I'll give that a shot then, thanks!

The second row gives the age of the last block synced ... Once you see something that is rather small (in the seconds or minutes) you can type "quit" and start the GUI again.

Okay thanks, I will give it a shot and update.

you are running the latest version 0.8.1?
which Operating system?
If you are on windows, can you try and open the console version in the install directory, called "bitshares_client.exe" and wait for it to show the command prompt ">>>"
or just let the console version run for a few hours to catch up with the network (2.5M blocks)

I'm not sure what you are wanting me to do once the ">>>" pops up, but I did that. It seems like I'm syncing at about 543 blocks/sec. I'll update if anything changes.
That's excellent news and quite fast syncing.
you can enter getinfo to something like this:
Code: [Select]
{
  "blockchain_head_block_num": 2354222,
  "blockchain_head_block_age": "6 seconds old",
  "blockchain_head_block_timestamp": "2015-04-23T07:05:20",

I have been having this same issue. I am on 0.8.1 using a windows. I have successfully used this version multiple times, but this is the first attempts in about a week. As Omgurindanger wrote, some sort of transparent gray box pops up on top of my password (not all the time), but then it goes away. The times that it doesn't pop up, it seems like the unlock button is unresponsive.

You also might have luck trying "use the Go to My Accounts menu item and enter your password in the pop-up dialog".

When I tried this, a dialog box did not pop up.
