Hi,
I'm  GPU Mining  using 3 R9 280x, with HPM around 80-90hpm so that's all good.
However, after adding a 4th card in my rig(the same type) , only 3 cards are mining. One always stays idle.
At first the 4 cards are succesfully recognized but there's always only 3 workers accepting tasks.
If i try mining other coins(FTC), all 4 cards are active.

Is there a specific config to do to have the 4 cards mining?
You need more system RAM to run 4 cards, it has been reported that 5G is enough, 4G is not.

Reporting maybe .4 hpm increase with new miner on R9 290. Thanks for putting these out.

Edit: ...and getting coil whine now too. Is that bad for the GPU, should I switch back to the old miner?
I have reports of rather disappeared coil whine in Ubuntu, so probably different load patterns have different effect on different card hardware designs. It is not harmful though unless you overheat the card.

reorder, thanks for the reply. I'm in Ubuntu with my ASUS R9 290's as well, it's not a whine as much as a sound like an quiet insect or maybe a rain stick once every few seconds (I know this is a stupid description). I assume that's what people call coil whine. Temp's are fine (same as old miner), so yea maybe just due to my build of Linux or drivers or something.
It is still coil wine, only it is not always constant with MMC algorithm but may rather come in 'chirps'. It is safe, in fact, you can experience it in games/benchmarks as well.

What might be the cause of increasing rates of rejects, it usually gets worse later, like this:

C result: Rejected
Mon Jan 06 08:35:30 2014 Worker 0 hpm 22.868558 wpm 18.531418 A/R/T 8/13/0 -> RP
C result: Accepted
Mon Jan 06 08:35:36 2014 Miner Stops - mmcpool.1gh.com:8080
The miner send a lot of "Duplicate share".
And because of getwork protocol too.

As example:
Code: [Select]
Thu Jan  9 03:17:01 2014 Worker 0 hpm 13.457904 wpm 12.089304 A/R/T 12/8/0 -> RPC result: Accepted
Thu Jan  9 03:17:08 2014 Worker 2 hpm 13.013646 wpm 11.861996 A/R/T 12/3/0 -> RPC result: Accepted
Thu Jan  9 03:17:08 2014 Worker 2 hpm 13.125080 wpm 11.858625 A/R/T 12/4/0 -> RPC result: Rejected
Thu Jan  9 03:17:11 2014 Worker 0 hpm 13.313360 wpm 12.082713 A/R/T 13/8/0 -> RPC result: Accepted
Here "Worker 2" sends 2 times the same share(?) at the same time
Hard to tell, would you please update the miner? New version prints rejects reason code.

I get this when trying to run the GPU miner on Windows 7 64bit and with gforce GTX 680

same problem here
Would you please test if 32-bit cgminer starts in your system?

Im trying the GPU miner and there only seems to exist a 64bit version?

Best Regards
For Windows, it is 32-bit which also runs in 64-bit OS. For Ubuntu, it is only 64bit for the moment indeed, there seemed to be no demand for 32-bit version yet.

Well you said test 32 bit version kinda confused :)
The problem with starting the miner in your system is that it cannot load OpenCL library, which I assume is due to the fact its 32-bit version is just not there. This is why I asked if you can run 32-bit cgminer: it would have the same problem if my assumption is correct.
