Hey, why is the ad for Donkey Viagra following me around?

Offline mint chocolate chip

It doesn't look that bad, and what site doesn't have adds?  Gotta pay the bills somehow.

sure but why not giving partners etc here chance to get adverted ... before using external ads.. ?
It didn't look bad .. but the postition directly under nav ..will cause many accidently clicks .. and for people who are using this forum more frequently, this could be irritating… anyway i'm not saying Bitsapphire shouldn't get paid for forum administration ...and Taulant guess you know this :)

Accepting payment from partners for ads is a great way to help solidify the relationship especially I'd adsense is ditched to accept it.  I am seriously doubting partners wouldn't pay enough to make adsense not worth it.

How much are these ads bringing anyway?
between 0.50 - 10 $ (and 10 is very optimistic lol) per thousand impressions.
i think the avarage is 2$

it also depends on where and how you place these ads

How many impressions does this site get on a daily basis? I'd imagine a few thousand a day?
Clicks pay > impressions. Each click they get might be between .05 and $1+

Step 1:  Estimate how much ad revenue is being generated by the google ads.
Step 2: Ask for donations of equal amount to keep the site ad free.

Go home.

how many ads are displayed per day is the more accurate question. assuming many if not all use adblock

after BTS 2.0 is running change all the links to the wallets into referral links, should give much more. I said it before adsense makes no sense at all!

these adds could be alot worse ..

maybe we can have them be moved between the first and the second post?! That's what BCT is doing IIRC and people are already used to ut

yea like we had them 1 year before .. amazon ws setting it up .. and we should prefer crypto partner etc ads paid before we display extern ads...

my 2 cents
yes.
maybe also let a group of elected community members decide which websites are suitable for the forum. (eg. no shady. no gambling. no nsfw)
before they are published

Thank you for bringing this up Cass.

What horrible timing too, during the run up to 2.0 launch.

Wasn't there a delegate for this?

Didn't somebody suggest a wikipedia-style ask/donation system?

Anything but these cheesy, cheap and cringeworthy ads.

These horribly chosen and placed google ads go a long way to making this community appear amateur and cheap to the large amount of newcomers that will be seeing it for the first time over the next several months.

If we're going to run ads here, let's at least only sell and run ads relevant to Bitshares, such as delegate hopefuls or Bitshares-based businesses.

I must admit, i really dislike the advertising strip direct under forum navigation.

And i'm thinking this should be discussed again ...
