I found that osx version doesn't have sha info and version name in the filename. Can other Mac users confirm this?

you screen says version 0.4.25 .. so you probably have EXECUTED from the wrong installation ..
are you sure you have only ONE BitShares installed?

v0.9.3 for MacOSX binary file is wrong
In the recent release 0.9.3,
https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares/releases/tag/untagged-6e4a2311750246c41b7a

this file (for mac user) is wrong.

When I downloaded it and executed, i had to face this screen


I downgraded(or upgraded) to 0.9.1 and re synced and now it is fine.
