Yeah... well using https://bitshares.openledger.info?r=(your account name here)   so how I did it was https://bitshares.openledger.info?r=bitcoin42  the fee allocation looks like this:

Fee Allocation
Network   20%
Lifetime Referrer   (bitcoin42)   30%
Registrar   (openledger-reg)   20%
Affiliate Referrer   (bitcoin42)   30%

How can I become the Registrar? I tried to create an account from the light wallet, and then extract the private key of that account and import it into a new wallet, but that didn't work. Any ideas?

To be the registrar you have to be the one to actually create the account and pay the creation fee.  I think the only way right now is using the CLI wallet or running your own faucet server.

they're still testing it. never worked I think

Wow, just wow.  :-\

I kept reading that it was working "behind the scenes" and assumed it was keeping track properly.

So who is getting the referrals we're sending to OL, OL?

I guess I need to go remove all of these referral links at several sites now.

If this is the case, it seems most all of our work for BTS ecosystem is only funding other projects and we see little to nothing for the work, which is very disappointing.

according to BM's last hangout, referral data can only be added upon sign-up. and currently every field says openledger-reg

don't use anything until you tested in yourself and your name is in there

In case anyone missed this announcement...

Affiliation system, referral codes and residual income for life

and on top of all, you will be abel to join an affiliation system and start making money on the base of a special referral code from coming week as well! That is, of course if you have the interest of sprading the news to anyone you feel could be interested and start making money on their fees spent on platform. A nice little kick to it all!

Here is how your own referral link should look like: https://bitshares.openledger.info?r=(your account name here)

i think the affiliate systems already works (look at dacplay), but openledge gives nothing back.

Yea I am aware of that, and it is truly disappointing. That wasn't what was 'planned' from the June announcement, it wasn't what was told to us by Bytemaster or valzav and it is surely should be a concern for the community as the referral system was supposed to be the springboard to get more users and a reward to those who use their energy to promote the system. DacPlay was somehow able to figure out how to get referral links credited correctly in a matter of days after seeing the new system, it is a wonder why the developers chose not to have had it implemented from the get go or at the least have it implemented it in a timely manner. With all the link and banner traffic I am sending to OpenLedger, feels more like a money grab than a referral system.

I'm sure they're working on it. But the wallet and GUI issues probably have taken first priority. No real point in referring folks until we are 100% ready for them. Getting pretty close (we all hope!).

You can refer users to https://bitshares.dacplay.org/r/YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME right now if you don't want to wait.  DACPLAY's server is located in China, could be a bit slower, but won't be big difference.

it is a big difference though.

however, kudos to dacplay for getting started in less time.

Which week?

Precisely.

LOL!   Which summer are talking about while that we're at it?

In which November will the official marketing campaign begin? :P

Couple of questions i hope someone could clear up for me please..

https://bitshares.org/wallet/?r=yourname#/create-account
Would a link such as the one above make the [username] the 'Affiliate Referrer' or the 'Lifetime Referrer' ? or both? (if lifetime member)

if the above link is for the 'Affiliate Referrer' how would one go about referring a user and being their  'Lifetime Referrer' ?

can the 'Affiliate Referrer' be a non-member account?

- only life time member can refer people

- no one know how they will build the affiliate program - your link may or may not work

Any news on this?

I created an account within my wallet for a friend, extracted the private keys and imported them into a new wallet for him. But't kind very bulky way to do it, plus... Also, I still have his account in my "Dashboard" although I can't display his private keys.... either way... i should have not seen his private keys ever...

So How the heck do you refer people `?

Thanks for the help here.

arg, spent four hours last night updating links, adding banners, and blogging on my two sites for apparently no reason. Here is to hoping the link format doesn't change in the future, then much of that effort will have been a complete waste of time. So much for capitalizing on the spike in traffic on my sites from all the recent news.

I was under the impression the referral program was going to be ready for launch.

:-\  Ya, we feel your pain. Lots of wasted effort lately.

Offline mint chocolate chip

Using the referral system at this moment seems a bit vague.

Is there a method in place for us non-wallet providers to refer a user and get some portion of the referral credit?

If so, what is/are the page(s)/website(s) we are are supposed to refer a user to?

If so, please provide an example of the exact way we should format the link with our referral code.

Thank you.

https://bitshares.org/wallet/?r=yourname#/create-account

I believe there are currently some issues with the page, but that is the proper link format from my understanding (it was working earlier)

https://bitshares.openledger.info/?r=yourname#/create-account

I think this is how we will craft links, but the referral system is not up and running yet. so don't use it for now

this.

I dont have a business on chain to run but I have a couple friends to sign.

At least provide a convenient mechanism where we (me and CNX) get to share the fees earned.

https://graphene.bitshares.org/#/create-account/?r=fav linking like that doesn't seem to work. how do you build the correct link? (should work by now, correct?)
I would assume the other way round since everything behind the "#" is NOT passed to the web server
hence:

We will work out a referral program for bitshares.org that will see to it you get rewarded downstream by forwarding the r=? args to the partner sites that the user eventually selects.
Ah .. thanks for highlighing this to me .. it seem openledger.info currently does not track the r=? parameter .. I told ronny to shed light into this and this was his answer:
Quote
[19:46:43] Ronny  Boesing: and if not of course I am interested, then we just need to find out how to work it

TL;DR; this will come .. maybe not at launch though!

so a marketer has no means here until this is running, which is not what was communicated prior to today's mumble. At least not how I understood it.

also, if other marketers are ready to blow money on the launch thinking they would get refs - and they actually do it - there will be a disaster.

this is not how you attract marketers.

feel free to correct me :)

you guys are mixing things up ..

the referral system is there already and READY TO GO ..

what you will not be able to do right now is: you refere to openledger.info with r=foobar and get credited for the referer ..
that simply is not yet implemented since it needs to be done in a separated backend ..

//edit: and btw .. that is an **voluntary** feature of the exchange (e.g. openledger)

but will work with bitshares.org?

if that's the case, then I probably misunderstood bytemaster in the mumble.

bitshares.org will not host a web wallet .. (for legal reasons) .. that's why the cooperate with ronny .. he also has a money transmitting license

thanks. then my question remains valid

so the question is, is cryptonomex going to be the default referrer for all new sign-ups until there's an actual affiliate system up and running?

I'd expect the referral set to bitusd fee pool or something meaningful until there is a chance for competition.

I thought there was some special account that these fees go into. And the funds from which can be dispersed by a vote or  by the 'committee for changes'' '  decision or something.

Is this account also not available at launch?
Lack of arbitrage is the problem, isn't it. And this 'should' solves it.
