You must've been using an old version or have done this before the last update, because that calculation has been fixed. See the balance of blocktrades for example here:

One issue here though is the data that I have available to actually make this conversion. For bitassets I can use the settlement price which is generally up to date,  but for UIAs I need to use the core exchange rate and it can be very out of sync with the actual price of the market. For example right now for TRADE.BTC, the core exchange rate is 76959 BTS/TRADE.BTC, while the most recent trade happened at 95200 BTS/TRADE.BTC. So until blocktrades updates their core exchange rate the equivalent value calculation will be off by ~30%.

I'll see if I can update the Equivalent value calculation to actually fetch the latest price since we have access to the order history now, but that wasn't available when I first made this component.

Edit: Oh and this equivalent value has no impact on anything else, it's only displayed as a convenience.

Oh also as a LT member I get 80% of that fee, correct?
Is this displayed anywhere?

Ok that worked. I would have thought it would calculate automatically, but anyway it has sent and is instant which is great.

Got to put these little traps in a user help guide guys.

So you're suggesting leave some in the account for the fee?

Its a pretty big damn bug!

if this is the only way I can get funds into the software right now and it converts my BTC to 1 BTS, instead of about 8,000 BTS I would say this should be the number 1 priority to fix immediately, before any other dev work is done.

Right now I cannot buy BTS with Bitcoin, I'm dead in the water here.

Please fix ASAP
It's not really converting it to 1 BTS, its just a display bug.

I'm not sure why it's saying you have insufficient funds, that looks to be a separate issue. I think the problem is you're trying to send too much when you account for the TRADE.BTC required to send it. Try sending a little less TRADE.BTC. In other words, make sure that amount_sent + fee < balance in wallet.

I think this issue does demonstrate the webwallet could handle this case better, though (e.g. maybe suggesting an allowed maximum to send or something similar).

I have just sent a small amount of BTC to my Bitshares.20 account, probably about $35 USD worth at current market rate. I used the blocktrades Trade.BTC address, worked fine.

I have then tried to trade this for BTS as per BlockTrades.US site at https://blocktrades.us/

Firstly I get an error telling me I have zero Trade.BTC, insufficient funds.
Then I check my overview and find that 0.07777613 is the equivalent to 1 BTS in my account!

Sorry I haven't figured out how to attach screen grabs yet, so have provided grabs from my Dropbox at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u9pxjl0lbwnicaq/AABvvMVxmnysVQPgJKWbouvna?dl=0

What's going on? How can this amount be worth 1 BTS???
There's some kind of bug in that equivalent value calculator I think. I reported a github issue about it a day or two ago.
