In 2.0 you can see the current supply of bitUSD here:
https://bitshares.org/wallet/#/asset/USD
or here if you are using Open Ledger:
https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/asset/USD

Its around USD 112,000 at this moment.

You can see the collateral of all assets here: https://bitsharesblocks.com/assets/market however at the moment, values are not right probably because of the migration. Before the migration MPA had a collateral of around 200% but now that may be subject to change. If you wait a few days it, collaterals might get updated.

As an example, bigger the bitUSD supply is, the more BTS is locked as collateral.

Bitsharesblocks is still running v0.9

BTS is not created or destroyed, but locked away as collateral while the USD exists (which is created and destroyed).

I think I understood that, I used the word 'use' cause i did t know how to phrase it. it's ultimately taken out of circulations as simply bts though, right? So less bts in circulation as long as it is locked in as for example USD.

Where can we see the overal use of bts 'locked' into assets?

My opinions do not represent those of metaexchange unless explicitly stated.

I'm a total newbie to Bitshares but not to alts. It seems to be two things collide to massively increase the value of bitshares, can I check I am not mistaken as I invest in more.

First am I correct in saying that bitshares are actually used when a bitshares smart coin is made? It does it take bitshares of a value of 1 USD roughly to make a 1 USD asset?

Two, how can we see the progress of how many assets exist, USD, GOLD etc? By this we can gauge how much bitshares are used in assets and that will help determine value, right?

*plus I agree with some criticism of the UI at the moment, it's not terrible but i think a much user friend brighter look is needed.
