How to properly close witness node?

What is the proper way to terminate a witness node?

I am in the process of updating my desktop client to 2.0 and have managed to get the witness node running on Windows 7. However when I attempt to close the command window from which witness_node was started, nothing happens & I cannot even close the process from Task Manager. Only logging off and on works.
