Buyer and seller not matching up

That's pretty standard for any exchange. Take a look at other exchanges and usually you'll see a similar gap in orders. The ones that do match are filled quickly, so they are a lot less visible. The ones you see are holding out for the price level they want.

Why do you think they should match? If you're selling your car for 10,000 dollars and I offer 8000, should the deal get "filled"?

You need the sells to go below the buys or buys to go above the sells for a match to occur..

In the BTS:USD market, there is a sell order for 286.643 and multiple buy orders ranging from 270 to 280, however the sell order is not getting filled. I've got to say I'd cringe if I had to explain that to someone right now. From my standpoint, the guy offering to sell for 270 and the the guy offering to buy for 286 should do that deal.

Is this a bug? If not, what's the rational for not brokering the deal?
