Hi,

I'm a newbie who have registered an account on Open Ledger to bring some money but I'm little bit confused and the system looks complicated.

For example in the trading panel there are assets like BTC, OPEN.BTC, METAEX.BTC but unfortunatly without information on what it is - except NO DATA for some of them. Sometime the loading animation freeze so that I need to refresh the page to continue navigation.

I think it woud be nice to have more liquidity as already said before and also tooltips on hover explaining ELI5 the Bitshares & OL system. Saying this I'm still a big fan of Bitshare :)

I also notice there is no possibility to change the dark theme.

@Flor

for a description of the assets you can check this link http://cryptofresh.com/assets
there are a few videos on youtube about OpenLedger and they're currently doing some but at a slow pace I guess.
There's a help section you can check there if it helps...
@cass is handling a light theme so we should have one soon

There's also documentation on BitShares that might help you

Just remembered something it's not being marketed but it should. On OpenLedger you have no deposit/withdrawal limits. On centralized exchange you have and it's pretty annoying. Sometimes you have to give your ID and you still get restrictions on the amounts. That's pretty annoying.

OpenLedger has no withdrawal/deposit limits. That's a good thing.
... except for fiat of course!!

Yes, since Fiat needs to be provided by a centralized service. "OpenLedger has no withdrawal/deposits limit for cryptocurrencies" better!

One more chance to snatch a few users from Kraken. I've seen exchanges going temporarily down but this time it seems people got really pissed because of Ethereum.

agree with the opening page, we should spend some time on the most superficial stuff, pays back 10x, esp. when the newbies arrive with the flood  :)

I still don't know where we stand regarding a trollbox on OpenLedger. Is it safe or not? Can we do it? It would attract more people!

@ccedk got one more potential user for you lol and by his profile he even seems someone who is in the DOGE community for quite a while and may be well known. One user that can potentially bring more! btw check his feedback. He's right we're lacking screenshots of the exchange on the site. It's a must!
https://www.reddit.com/r/cryptsy/comments/40d7iy/inviting_all_cryptsy_users_to_join_openledger_a/

When it was release people loved the interface here. That user was just another example so what we need is to show it off!! Show it on articles, show it on the site. People need something to be impressed about. All the nice talk and features, they're good but this is food for their eyes. whether they want it or not, they're making contact with the exchange as soon as they see the pics with a simple scroll. And from the moment they do they love it.

Screenshots must be added asap @cass (dunno if you have access)

Here are some quotes from that reddit:

Quote
by heart, didnt it ask to register before it explained what it is?
Quote
yeah, but i need to see the active markets beforehand before I would decide to join

@svk: Proves what Ive been saying for ages, the OpenLedger exchange frontpage puts people off, because people want to see depth etc before registering, even if it is free.

 +5%

Exactly. We need some screenshots and a video demonstration. That should be the first thing the user sees. Because only he finds it cool will he want to know more info. He doesn't want to read all of that info without having NO idea of what OpenLedger looks like.

Maybe it doesn't need an abbreviation. The only one it needs is the one used in the markets as assets are commonly shown with a three letter abbreviation. But it doesn't need to be known as it's own abreviation, it can be known as OPENBITS/OPENBITZ there's nothing wrong with that.

Indeed, I think that the sentence: " Bits and pieces of OpenLedger" is really and genuinely best translated by the named Asset OPENBITS with an S.

Is CCEDK going to properly integrate with OpenLedger?

1) Not integrating implies that CCEDK doesnt trust BitShares enough to use it as a backend.
2) Not integrating is causing marketing efforts to be diluted.

Should I use CCEDK's DOGE or use OPENDOGE? Integrate them! Imagine the positive press that BitShares (and CCEDK) would get.

Most volume there was DOGE, it should be a good bet for OpenLedger to try and get the most customers possible from Cryptsy

@ccedk you should ask @Hypercube to change the image appearing on the video thumbnail. It's bad. It's red and a signal of warning, it isn't attractive when you want to show it. The thumbnail should be the OpenLedger logo with the purple/blue background.

Also, is it possible to have the Daily Decrypt suggest user's to go to OpenLedger in the recent scam and failure of Cryptsy? It would be a major advertisement! Same for Bitcoin Rush! Amanda even has a lifetime membership and can profit from that, offered by our community.

Found this exchange
http://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/bitcoins-norway/

Seems it could make use of all advantages we could provide. Not to mention Norway is near Denmark so you might have something in common. $4k daily volume. I feel these are the exchanges we should look out for first. They should have all the interest on working with us and vice versa. We can help out each other! If we can get a few of these, volume might slowly start to increase and then we can move on to bigger ones!

This one seems nice too since it has a trollbox and that is very much needed
http://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/bleutrade/

@mf-tzo
Could you contact them https://www.btcgreece.com/

Bitcoins-norway is not the one I would start with, and prefer not to say more than this.

but if anyone from community, could create a group organizing taking contact to the exchanges existing everywhere in the world, and focus on the smallest and most hungry first, that would be a great start.

I will be happy to participate, but my work oes not allow me a costant focus on this, otherwise I would have been the first, and actually alraedy left suggestions on this to Stan back in November, but we have all been so very busy just getting the basics done.

Oh I thought since they were small and even near Denmark, they would have all the incentives in joining us... Plus they could easily contact you.

Btw, Cryptsy down, hope you can manage to catch a bit of their market with their alts on CCEDK

(By the way, "obits" is an abbreviation for 'obituaries.'"

Believe it or not but the word was put together on the base of open bits, from bits and pieces on openledger. It is not a good word for SEO purposes and I have to agree with the people creating the branding videos for OpenLedger that the way it is right now does not give any chances when you google it, and I am working hard on a slight change to be introduced right before buyback, as I feel that seems the right time to do this. Why I wish to wait untill then is to have enough media cover the buyback and therefore creating enough new links to adjusted domain name and anywhere else for that matter.  we just cannot change the asset an easy way, so I have to think about that as well.
@ccedk will you stick with openbits or are you planning a new brand?

I am considering various options to be then presented in connection with the mentioning in the media of the first buyback, but I will first be doing some kind of feeling the motions towards a change, as it really needs to stay close to initial intention.

there is really nothing wrong with openbits as the name, but there is with my abbreviation obits,  so maybe we just need to redo it to OPENBITS or OPENBITZ.

Anybody else wondering about the referral program?

https://bitshares.org/referral-program/
It talks about rewards of 30%, and 50%, and 80%.

On a post to this forum, it says it's 60%. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,19726.0.html

The first part about 30%, 50% and 80% talks about you as the one upgrading and the percentage you have on all future activities, meaning whenyou upgrade as lifetime member, you will have all fees reimbursed within a 90 day period, apart from the 20% network receives for future development as example are the working proposals.

If you have a 80% returned to yiour own account, any future signups based on referrals from your referral link will be basically sending 60% of any fees they spend your way, 20% the way of registrar of openledger, and 20% to network.

Once any of the referred users decide to choose lifetime membership themselves, they will in future have same comditions as yourself. The lifetime membership upgrade fee would then be the last amount you would ever reveive from this user, which seems fair enough. I dont mind personally to go out and introduce all to usders worldwide and perhaps 10 years from now have hundreds of thousands of Lifetime members on OpenLedger all getting reimbursed from any fees they pay except the 20% you pay to the network.

It is important to emphasize that it is only the fees connected to the functionality of OpenLedger in question, all mentioned nicely on Cryptofresh website: http://cryptofresh.com/fees

I like any of below links as well for further understanding:

Aditional information

There is a reason why the platform is called OpenLedger, simply because all activities on platform is like an open book.

It is possible to find out all by doing the search directly on platform or by using the created explorer called cryptofresh.com

I like cryptofresh for the easy access:

http://cryptofresh.com/u/openledger-reg the ccedk account of OpenLedger showing all profits made so far in regards to transaction fees and other ones, worth mentioning is that the past couple of months have been used to improve platform, and it is possible to see a daily change to the better towards a top designed platform

Here is an overview of the fees on platform

http://cryptofresh.com/fees

The details of obits account from where OBITS is sent an general update on what is left:

http://cryptofresh.com/u/obits

Statistics on OBITS asset:

http://cryptofresh.com/a/OBITS

Worth mentioning: 308(January 3rd 2016) accounts so far have bought OBITS, you can also see the accounts placing buy and sell orders on OBITS market

Statistics an charts

http://cryptofresh.com/charts

For instance 4179 unique accounts created, (january 3rd 2016)

This one below to show how many signups untill now are based on Life Time member accounts referrals

https://bitshares.openledger.info/refscoreboard

Below is based on updates from january 3rd 2016

With 4179 signups and in this link info how many users are referred by Life Time members as well, deducting the 3228 users that are not.

4179-3228 = 951 referred users created so far

With 4179 signups we have an average of 52 sign-ups a day

The goal in 2016 is 120-180 signups a day, which I am certain will come soon in the new year, making us reach an approx amount of users 43.200 - 64.800 by the end of 2016 if all works more or less according to expectations.

With +60.000 users on exchange, it is not far from an estimated daily  volume in profits of some USD 4000-6000 equivalent to what major exchanges like Bitstamp, BitFinex, Okcoin, Coinbase and btc-e are making, and we have reached the goal of doing the same as some of the top 5 major exchanges, and 2017 will be all about the sky is really the limit!

Great copy/marketing suggestions, here. Akado and RGCrypto...

The terms and conditions seem to say you have to wait six months before receiving your first bitshare (one share). Then six more months to receive the second. And that you can have one BTS per year thereafter.
https://bitshares.org/referral-program-terms-and-conditions/

Seems like for the time being, maybe because it's new, everything's pretty vague and sort of contradictory.

Thoughts?

oh okay I thought that buy doing this, the POS stuff wouldn't be included in OBITS. Nice to have that cleared up, thanks!

why the OPENPOS asset? Wasn't OBITS supposed to do its job already?
http://cryptofresh.com/a/OPENPOS

Not exactly sure what you mean with above? but I have no problem explaining what it's about in short terms.

OPENPOS is an asset created for fundraising, where the market fee profits will be added to the revenue stream of OBITS.

This is one of the future revenue streams I am able to do where market fee profits go directly to OBITS buyback. It has been talked about but now reality. I am sure you will hear more in coming days.

This is the reason why it has been created on openledger account to insure transparency and also to show the potential in Openledger as issuer only of the asset, and owner of the market fees.

In the new article you mention you hope to get the fiat gateway and casino integrated on OpenLedger in December. These, are awesome news, but seem like quite a lot of work. Are you really expecting them by December or you're just hoping they are? Realistically, do you think you can pull it off?

I mean, fiat gateway is awesome for ease of use, plus the casino where people can actually do something with their money, that just sounds awesome. Eager to see what those will bring, but I'm honestly expecting those only by January or even February.  Only because it seems like a lot of work to me... don't know if it actually is or not.

But huge news nonetheless, good job  +5%

the fiat gateway really depends on when the KYC white list feature is ready to be integrated on platform by cryptonomex, but I am hopeful it is before christmas. The casino part is more of a struture matter to get that connected to Openledger, an it might only be in january, but nothing i out of the question yet.

Those videos could also help the referral program a lot right? That's another incentive for CCEDK or anyone else to do them.

It would be nice to have all of that information in a single OpenLedger youtube page! More exposure, easy to find, etc. People could share it and earn from the referral program

无语了 没利益的情况下 谁会这么有空花时间成本去学怎么用钱包 你们还不如寻思怎么让钱包更简单好用 而不是去做这些指引视频

I would like to suggest for OpenLedger to create a YouTube account and once we have a more stable platform with no huge differences between updates, start doing videos. I might try some to see if I have the talent for that kind of thing as I never tried. On one side it would be good to have some for new people to learn, on the other side it's too soon as we will get constant updates in the near future and the videos might become outdated.

Still, here is a list of tutorial videos that should be kept to around 3~5m each

Description Videos:
These Videos would be more theoretical content, explaining stuff and its potential, showing pages like bitshares.org/technology, etc
What is BitShares 2.0
What is OpenLedger
What are OBITS
What are the Features Offered by OpenLedger
What is DPOS, Witnesses, Workers and Committee Members
Comparing OpenLedger to Centralized Exchanges
OpenLedger Services and Use Cases

Exploring OpenLedger:
These videos would be just a brief description of each menu option the user has on their wallet
Explore - Blockchain
Explore - Assets
Explore - Accounts
Explore - Markets
Explore - Witnesses
Explore - Committee Members
Trade
Transfer
Settings and Wallet Management Console

How-Tos:
These videos would be more practical, with real examples done and described step by step so the user can understand how to use the wallet functionalities.
How to Create an Account
How to Backup My Account
How to Make a Deposit/Withdrawal
How to Make a Transaction
How to Make an Order
How to Search the Markets
How to Vote for Worker Proposals
How to Vote for Witnesses
How to Set Up a Voting Proxy
How to Get an Annual or Lifetime Subscription
How to Use the Referral Program to Make Profit
How to Create an UIA
How to Set Up Account Permissions
How to get bitUSD, bitEUR, bitCNY or Other Stable MPAs to Hedge Against Volatility

This may be a bit of an overkill and some subjects might even be too similar and some even the same, but this is jsut a suggestion to make short videos, covering every aspect of OpenLedger so that every new member could be redirected to them and understand all they wanted to know. To cover the very basics.
Do we have the same brain? I was just thinking about that yesterday.

Lots of exchanges have profit sharing tokens. But maybe this is the only decentralized one.  :)

I think your unique positioning statement is:

The Only CryptoCurrency Exchange That Shares It's Profit With You!

If you agree with this unique position, it would need to be located at the very top of the page, above the fold.

Can't use the word 'only' unless its certain.. and all it takes is someone else doing the same tomorrow to make it untrue.

Otherwise some great copy suggestions!
The "ONLY" part is very important. If you have any suggestions on what OBITS unique positioning statement is, let me know. :-)

another couple tiny corrections:

obits.io: "what is obits" should say "what are obits"

and "what people says," should say "what people are saying"

Yeah I also think it's not necessary to invest in Bitcoin. You could suggest however, that investing in Obits is investing on an exchange. People will immdiately associate it with BTC exchanges and their huge volumes and the profit they could make with it in the future.

If people could invest in Bitstamp they would throw all their money at them.

I personally was a little confuse. I bought some Obits but I am not sure what it gets me.
The messaging is a little muddied by all the terms and explanations that I, as an investor don't care about.

Do I care it's a decentralized autonomous exchange? Not really.
Do I care about making a return? Absolutely

Here is what I would see for copy:

Get Obits and Share The Profits From OpenLedger

Would you like to earn from the highly volatile cryptocurrency market without having to become a highly skilled trader? Imagine making a few pennies on every transaction made on an exchange...without having to deal with all the hassles of operating one!

This is what OBITS is about.

With OBITS you can profit on all transactions of an up and coming cryptocurrency exchange. Buying OBITS is the equivalent of buying stakes in our exchange business. Not only will you share the profits but you will also have a say in the future development of OpenLedger via our exclusive voting features.

Profit Distribution

How are you going to profit and how does it work?  OpenLedger is powered by an automatic referral system baked in the system. Just like every business we have revenue and expenses, here is the breakdown:

(Include Pie Charts to explain fees/revenue because people who are visual won't read % stuff)

How Much OBITS Should I Buy?

Profit is distributed via our Share Buyback Program which mean that every month we "buy back" a part of those shares based on profits. It represents a more flexible way of returning money to the owners of OBITS. You can buy or sell OBITS on OpenLedger at any time. The longer you hold your OBITS to higher the chance you have to make a good return.

How many OBITS should you buy? The better questions is how much do you want to own a share of the profit of OpenLedger?

------------------------------
Try to avoid long winded term like "Autonomous Decentralized Exchange" and in my opinion, you don't even have to mention bitcoin.

made this thread in case people just want to point something out or suggest something instead of creating a new thread

@ccedk The dynamic banner you send me has a spelling mistake. You say "Bitcoin is too expensive? Obits is solution".

However it should be "Is Bitcoin too expensive? Obits is the solution"

I also think you could get a better and more convincing argument for people to invest in Obits. Im not sure about the bitcoin comparison... I kind of get it that you mean Obits is the new opportunity, however the way you say it.... It seems it is talking about the actual price and not growth potential in value. And bitcoin is never expensive since you can buy just a fraction... It seems the wording is a bit off. Just just my impression btw, I would like to know what ppl think. Maybe you could post he banner here so they can check it out

I am all ears for another suggestion of text, also as I wish to more  banners to choose from.
