Then I also need to know if there is a minimum amount of BTC/Satoshi that one has to send or not.

AFAIK, openledger's Open.xxx tokens eg https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/BTS_OPEN.BTC have the lowest deposit/withdrawal fee.  Blocktrades and MetaEx can chip in on this.

@Xeldal  Please bear with my blondness, but I don't know how to look for liquidity in those markets.

There tends to be a minimum to cover the transaction cost of sending you the UIA equivalent of your BTC (e.g. OPEN.BTC). So as long it's around 10 cents or more USD value you shouldn't have a problem.

Another option is you can directly purchase BTS with your BTC from the BlockTrades bridge and have it sent directly to your account. This can be done in the wallet under BlockTrades tab, or for the most control, you can visit the website: http://blocktrades.us

@Xeldal Thanks so much for that explanation! It does make it clear for me. An explainer video would of course make this easier for many more people, who learn by seeing things done.
@abit Thank you too for answering. I did find that and changed the faucet link .

Hi Shentist,  thanks for the answer, most of which I don't understand at all. What is a UIA? Haven't explored the wallet yet as i had an immense struggle creating the wallet in the first place and that got me into looking for answers all over the net first.
The account registration issue is sad. Please check this thread for fix: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,21761.msg283861.html#msg283861

"could you take a look at your local settings in the wallet and verify that you have `https` in the faucet url?
If not, please add an "s" and retry!"

After you registered, there is a withdraw/deposit page in you account.

UIA is a User Issued Asset.  It's an asset controlled by a 3rd party, so you must trust the issuer that it will be worth what they say it is worth.  For example your balance at an exchange like poloniex, bitstamp or coinbase requires you trust that they will honor your balance when you go to withdraw.  The same thing with a UIA.

One such UIA is OPEN.BTC which is just BTC held by OpenLedger(CCEDK).
1 BTC = 1 OPEN.BTC

If your BTC were held by Poloniex you could imagine your balance as a UIA called Poloniex.BTC

To send BTC to your BitShares wallet go to your BitShares Account page and click Deposit/Withdraw on the left

Then from the there you have 3 choices BlockTrades | CCEDK | MetaExchange
They are all reputable and safe for holding BTC, but if you intend to trade this BTC on BitShares I would suggest looking at the various pairs first to find the markets with the best liquidity.
Here's 3 such markets to compare.
https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/BTS_OPEN.BTC
https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/BTS_METAEX.BTC
https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/BTS_TRADE.BTC

Once you select one of these exchanges from the deposit/withdraw screen, you can generate a BTC deposit address.
In sending BTC to that address your BitShares account will be credited with the corrisponding about of a BTC UIA from the issuer.
You can withdraw the BTC at any time in the same manner, from the same screen.

I hope that makes sense.  It's a bit to get used to at first, I know.  Hopefully we can get some explainer videos for this because it's certainly not obvious. : )

Hi, I'm a total noob to all this and thus have stupid questions. Can I transfer bitcoins/Satoshi from an outside wallet to my registered OL wallet name like this, noisy?

the poloniex site states, that with this way you can transfer BTS and BTS only. Don't get confused. If you want to transfer Bitcoin into Bitshares you can use some of the UIAs who are running on the exchange. You will find them in the bitshares wallet "Deposit/Withraw" you can choose between 3 UIA provider. This provider you can see as small competitors compared to poloniex, so the BTC they create have the same 3rd party risks.

I have just noticed that according to your forum's profile, you already created account some time ago.

In that case... if you account is radent78 and you still have access to it, then everything what you need to do is use your account name.

For example if you would like to withdraw money from Poloniex, that would be:

Dear Radent,

First of all welcome to our community. I think that eventually will find out like the rest of us that online bitshares wallet is the easiest, friendly to use  and fastest wallet.

Regarding your question in order to transfer your bts from the external exchange to your registered account on the online wallet you just send the bts to your registered account name. If your registered account name on the online wallet is "radent" and you have bts in Poloniex all you need to do is withdraw your bts to "radent". Just try it out with few bts to test before you send large amounts.

All in all transferring funds (bts, bitusd, biteur, bitgold etc) has never been easier since you transfer them to the registered names.. radent, mf-tzo, superman etc.. instead of using complicated addresses such as 1Jiwrfhjst....

Hope that helps let us know if you need anything else..

P.S once you register your accounts in the online wallet, create a backup and save your password, brain key and export the .bin file and save them in a safe place..
