If someone want to check the volume on the DEx during the liquidity event (or any moment), I made a script who is taking the volume of CMC every hour since early february.

http://bitsharesfcx.com/zzz_dex_p.php/

I plan on adding a nice graph to it but I'm a total noob in PHP and MySQL so it may take time.

I bookmarked your page when you said it in Telegram channel. It's very good.  +5%
I think @Akado may have interest in it. Just wanted to reply this to his trading / marketing thread, but I haven't found that thread.
Knowing I have a "follower" ;p on my DEx volume page gives me motivation to add it a graph !

Thanks abit and estefan!

Yes a graph would be awesome. I really wanted something like this. Thank you!

I am Sad that @Samupaha  who has never referred a user that made a single transaction thinks the 70+ blog posts lack relevancy, are full of uninteresting content and offer little value to readers.

I don't usually use my referral code, because Bitshares is to me first and foremost an ideological project. It's a way of signaling that I'm telling about it to people because I really believe in it, not because I can make money by telling about it. But I do also have a plan for referral website, I just haven't had time to do it.

Yes, I emailed CMC the other day to ask Gliss to add USD:BTC. (Please don't spam him with requests!) He sent back a question asking if USD = BitUSD and asked for more information on the internal exchange.

Also it should be noted that BTC in this context means bitBTC. Especially outsiders don't necessarily know the difference so it should be always written correctly.

It looks like it really boosted the volume for a couple of days. This means that these walls should be kept there all the time. Why not to crowd fund a market making worker for every major bitAsset against selected "bridge" asset? This is really vital for bitshares success.

Last time i got info on that, they cot data from cryptofresh.
....

@roadscape: Did you were aware of that fact? If yes, could you double check that right now your API(?) provides proper information?

He sent back a question asking if USD = BitUSD and asked for more information on the internal exchange. As far as I know, the API is working properly, but doesn't account for all trading pairs (because there is no way to query for all active market pairs.. something I'm currently working on solving). Is there any specific number that appears off?

We can use the same strategy to kickstart other non BTS markets.

Number of holders:

1. USD — 937
2. CNY — 386
3. BTC — 225
4. GOLD — 131
5. SILVER — 104

Are there any places where you can trade GOLD:BTC? We can make one! :-)

My observations.

Good:

1. We've managed to create and sustain a nice-looking order book.
2. 11 BTC volume is ~1/5th of max volume on DEX.

Bad:

1. We've failed to attract new users outside of DEX (there were only 4 new names trading).
2. We've failed to attract existing holders of BTC and USD. There are at least 1000 unique holders and only 20 unique traders participated in the event.

These two goals are very different, first one is much harder because we need to create on-off ramps like BTC:OPEN.BTC and also explain why BTC is worth more than OPEN.BTC.

I propose we focus on the second goal for the next event measuring success/failure by (1) count of BTC holders before and after (2) count of unique traders on BTC:USD.

How?

1. We must make it easy for a random user to find BTC:USD market. Last METAFEES buyback is a very good example of why it's important. It was announced that buyback will be at METAFEES:METAEX.BTC. But on the day of buyback there were 10+ new sell orders on METAFEES:BTS and only two on METAFEES:METAEX.BTC. So, even if there's a very good incentive to find non BTS market — people just can't.

We can make an announcement box at the top of main wallet page that will promote next Liquidity Event. Every user of the wallet will see it and at least take a peek at the market.

2. We may do a sharecrop of some asset on every USD holder with a memo like "Liquid Mondays! Buy BTC with your USD on the <date>". And the same for BTC holders.

I think we should aim to achieve equal number of USD and BTC holders. I think it's possible to achieve in 2-3 more Liquidity Events if we target existing USD holders. BTC is preparing a move, it's possible for us to ride this wave.

After that we can start a outside targeted campaign like "trade BTC:USD securely on DEX, your funds are backed by collateral, etc". We'll have to think through and prepare on-off ramps, create marketing materials and do some PR. But first, there's so much room for improvement with what we already have (937 holders of USD and 225 of BTC).

I am Mad that Coinmarketcap did not accurately reflect the volume for those assets like I thought it was going to.

This should be converted into Action Point:
AP: Send a information to CMC and ask for adding new pairs. Make sure that they received that message. It would be great to get an ETA from them.

I have already tweeted them. Someone else (I don't remember who), send them a request through their official form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1IZf5cBivam_93zENT_arFFuvWDidHGjWxoTMVmFSoWg/viewform

But we should make sure, that they started working on this.

I send them one another request:

It would be nice to have cryptofresh accurately show the volume on the dex like cmc. We need that

I am glad that we could boost the market and see people trade. This shows confidence and all we need is to keep going with this market and later others!

Im glad we are learning and TRYING.
Im glad there was participation from the start because they will tend to be the ones who stick around.

Im sad we i didnt know enough about it with enough notice to help :/

I would say from experience, it is good to do it multiple times, at the same time of day, every week for a specified period of time. And give a good time period for notice.

For 1 silverticket (100 coppertickets) you can get a 30 second ad sponsorship mentioned at the end of a hangout.  And anyone can promote your project in this way...so it doesnt even have to be you. :)
Also, we can hold hangouts if given notice.

I am Glad that @noisy took the time and effort to link to the blog post on Reddit, that link alone brought 25 social clicks to the blog which saw a surge during the past two days of over 100 visits - 30 via internet search engines. Thank you to @cass for the graphic. Past few days resulted in 3 new accounts signed up.

On Feb 29th the first Bithsares Liquidity Event took place.

I decided to create that thread, because I am an enthusiast of Agile Development what means... that I prefer develop things in small steps, next gather feedback to perform better in next iteration.

Personally I think, that 1st Liquidity Event can be considered as Minimum Viable Product which proved that we as a community can organize such things.

In the other hand, this event for sure was not perfect. We should think about what went wrong... and what went well.

That's why am asking you for feedback. Let's use a "MADs, SADs, GLADs" convention:

The goal of this thread is to define Action Points (AP) which will be applied in next iterations... in 2nd, 3rd, etc. Liquidity Events.

So... let me start:

I am GLAD that whole event was not a total failure :P
I am GLAD that many people participated in that event
I am GLAD that LE was unexpectedly amazingly promoted via TheDailyDecrypt (LE was mentioned in 5 episodes - details) - Thank you Amanda @TheDailyDecrypt
I am GLAD that there are people who cares about future of bitshares like @onceuponatime and @ccedk who funded 4 weeks of TheDailyDecrypt sponsorship from own pocket, and @JonnyBitcoin who helped coordinate that
I am GLAD that we still have liquidity on https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/BTC_USD !!! :)

I am SAD that so little people twitted about LE, or upvoted an information about LE on https://www.reddit.com/r/bitshares/
I am SAD that I was forced to prepare LE poster by myself... because no one prepared anything before scheduled deadline (14 Feb)... even despite the fact that I have planned to donate 5000 BTS for that, plus @onceuponatime wanted donate 4000 BTS. To be honest... I am still in shock that no one decide send anything.
I am SAD that I was confused... because on 21 Feb (after deadline, and after my poster was already send to Amanda) @cass also prepared amazing graphics. However because that was already after scheduled deadline and because I already prepared and publish myself, I didn't sent him anything. I have now some mixed feelings :(
I am SAD that I didn't know where else we should send information about LE (I had a problem to find a proper list of blogs and contacts to authors)

I am MAD at myself... because I should be better prepared from technical point of view for hangout which took place on 02-19... because when people asked about Liquidity Event details, then I started talking... and then... I lost my Internet connection (facepalm)... BTW... I realised that after... 3-4 minutes of my monolog :D
I am MAD at myself... because I had a plan to prepare some kind of instruction for newbies how to trade or borrow BTC/USD. I have started working on this... but I started too late, and I realised that I will not be able to finish that on time. It would be better if I just prepared some text instruction at least.

My thoughs and proposition of Action Points:

- Sponsorship of DailyDecrypt or similar media should not be made from private pockets. We have mechanism of worker proposals for that. And it would be great to have some kind of similar exposure to any media during next LE. Should we always ask onceuponatime or ccedk for money? No!

AP: for next LE prepare a Worker Proposal, to ask for some small amount of money for promotion.
- Who can take care about that next time? Personally I don't know how to create such worker proposal.

AP: Prepare text or video tutorial for newbies how to participate in next event
- this same here... any volunteer?

AP: We should collaborate and create list of email addresses to various authors of blogs, to which we could send some brief information with small media pack (posters, logos, etc)
- I guess.. this list should not be public, because then it will become a spam list. Any idea how we could prepare that?
