I'm happy I figured it out, but honestly this is the worst investment of my life. And now BM is creating yet another coin. How is this not a huge scam.
Please define "scam"!

BitShares has been delivered as promised is functional, trades, has volume and is secure. I don't see that as a scam. It is still the best, fastest and most decentralized DEX on the planet.
But sure, go ahead shouting scam, that makes it easier for people to get into BitShares that honor the tech and don't care about the politics and FUD

Willing to pay BTC for someone to walk me through this from start to finish.
Please email to: jcbarrett2003@yahoo.com

Can anyone help me export and import my private keys?
I downloaded Bishares 0.9.3 but was unable to create an account.

Thanks,
JB
I am sorry to say .. but it is counterproductive to contact me via CNX and have me reply almost 10 mails and then asking for paid support publicly ..
i also send you a link to recovery service, migration guides and documentation .. AND told you step-by-step what you have to do.

Either you stick with private mail conversation or you go the public route. Either way, i refuse to dublicate my efforts
I got a PM as well :)
Good news is that someone else has managed to help him.

1. I thought I had it. I imported the private keys from 1.0 into 9.3c wallet and it said successful. Then went to the console and dumped the private keys.
2. Put those keys into bitshares2.0 and it said it found private keys, I clicked import and it took a long time loading claims and finally said no claims( no balance.
3. I used dumpprivkey from 9.3c because when I used the json file to import into BTS2.0, it gave me a message saying I need to use Bitshare1.0 file
You're almost there. Just don't use "dumpprivkey" command in 0.9.3c. Don't use the "export" menu of 0.9.3c either.

You need to go to the console of 0.9.3c wallet, and use command "wallet_export_keys file_name.json" which is described in http://docs.bitshares.eu/migration/howto-exporting-wallet.html , then import this file to 2.0.

I swear I'm trying like heck to get this to work,  but I cannot get the blockchain to  sync.  I'm copying and pasting the  file(BitShares-0.9.3-full-blockchain1.torrent) into   C:/Users/Pc User/AppData/Roaming/BitShares
Is that the wrong place?
You did it wrong.. it's a seed file, used to download the whole chain data via BitTorrent software.
However, you don't need the old chain data nor the torrent file, since your fund is from AGS donation.

Ok, Thanks for the link.  I understand everything except the first step. It says:

1.Download the Torrent and use it to obtain a full copy of the chain/ folder.
2.Move this chain folder into your BitShares shared directory:

I downloaded the legacy blockchain torrent file from the link, but how do I use that to get the full copy of the blockchain?

just copy in directory and start wallet, automatly start to sync full chain

torrent is for safe time syncing full blockchain

Please follow the migration guide: http://docs.bitshares.eu/migration
and do not dump individual keys. Instead make a backup of the WHOLE wallet and import that file! It will most probably contain the keys that hold your funds!

Ok, I been messing with 9.3c wallet.

How do I register it, the faucet isn't working?

When I import my keys, nothing shows up.

Also do I need to sync up the blockchain?

You can create a local account. It does not need to be registered. And you do not need to sync the blockchain.

Your fund is from AGS, so no need to register in 0.9.3, nor need to sync with 0.9.3.
Just install, import, export (in console), then import to 2.0. I'll try to find a tutorial.

//Update: steps of importing keys to 0.9.3
(via console command below, possible via GUI but I haven't find the tutorial yet):
Create an account in Bitshare 0.x client.
then go to console ( be ready with your private key )
type : importprivkey <your private key> <created account>

The rest steps can be found at: http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/migration/howto-exporting-wallet.html and http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/migration/howto-importing-wallet.html

Public key is  PZKnCeunEfmqFYHk4iFkDwmhGtvGLD39t5
OK. There ARE balances in BitShares 2.0 with this key.

Sorry, I was wrong, it seems current GUI doesn't aware of PTS/BTC keys. You need to import keys to 0.9.3, then export, then import to 2.0.

I moved my really old PTS wallet.dat file into bitshares-pts1.0 wallet, and  all my coins and transactions were there from previous year without syncing.
OK.

Quote
I then used the dumpprivatekey command in the console of the 1.0wallet, and pasted those characters in the import keys section of bitshares2.0 wallet.
Nothing happened.
Nothing happened? I remember you said "Found Keys" somewhere.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm not getting anything when I paste either my bitcoin or PTS private keys into the import box.

I pasted it while it was locked and unlocked.  It does say "Found Key" but thats it, nothing to click except the cancel tab.
If it does say "Found Key", there should be a big "import" button below. Click it.

Have you tried with latest BitShares wallet? https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/releases/latest

Have you created an account in BitShares 2.0 already? (I think I've asked this question once) If not, create one, then try import again.

Can you post an screenshot somewhere? Or maybe ask in Telegram channel: https://web.telegram.org/#/im?p=g33416306 or Slack http://slack.bitshares.org/ ?

Quote
There nothing under the lookup tab

Just thought of something, both my old wallets had been encrypted but bitshares2.0 doesn't ask for those anywhere?
The result of "dumpprivatekey " command is unencrypted, so BitShares2.0 wallet doesn't need to ask for password etc.

I Know I  I have assets, I can see them when i look up my old PTS public address from AGS donation days.
If you've moved your fund before (in BTS 0.x), there will be no fund remain in the addresses. Balance/transactions in PTS/Bitcoin wallet doesn't always mean balance in BTS client. Can you please paste your public keys here?

How do I get my private keys from my AGS donation address?  All I have is the wallet.dat file that was used back then, that computer broke a while ago.

I though you've already done that..
I was able to use dumpprivkey from the console .

after I posted earlier
Yeah, I cant figure out how to register my 9.3c wallet account which is boat11.
Do you know how to export private keys from PTS wallet? If yes, copy the keys, paste them into 2.0 directly, the "import keys" page.

//Update:
If not, check this post first: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=826.0

No need to import to 0.9.3c if you've never imported your PTS keys into BTS.

Try this - http://computriks.com/en/bitcoin-export-private-key

Replace 'bitcoin wallet' with 'PTS .dat wallet'

WOW this is getting a little crazy, I'm not that computer savy here obviously.

I have an openledger account and bts2.0 .

So freaking confused, I had an old pts wallet that I donated to Angelshares with. I saved that .dat file.  As everyone in the community said just hold on to that and you would be fine, well its not fine!  I really dont know what to do. My coins are currently on bitshates-pts 1.0 wallet.

How do I pull my private keys out of my PTS .dat file? Is that what you are telling me to do?

I gotta go to work now, i'll try to check on this periodically. Thank you for your help!

Ok I pasted the whole texts and it did say "found key" at the top. But It didn't let me hit enter or anything.  Only button showing is Cancel.
You need to create an account in BTS2.0 first. Otherwise the client won't know where to import you balances to. Or you have no balance in those keys at all (which would happen when you have ever imported the keys to BTS0.x and moved the balances to another account, in this case you need a backup of your BTS 0.x wallet).

//Update: check this:

Check this: http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/migration/howto-importing-wallet.html#web-wallet
Only don't import a "BTS 1.0 key export file", but paste the private key from your AGS donation into the box below.

Still not working.  Just to let you know what I did. I had my really old PTS wallet.dat from when those suckers were like 9$.  I imported that .dat file into the bitshares-pts 1.0 wallet.  Did I royally screw up doing that?

The step is PTS wallet.dat import into bts1 wallet -> export wallet to bts2 file format -> import file to bts2 client.  You do not need to sync bts1 since you have no transactions.

Check out http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/migration/howto-exporting-wallet.html#bitshares-1-0-full-client for details.

I don't know if you must let your 0.9 version sync first, if you do it might take quite a while. I think there was a copy of the updated chain somewhere so you don't have to wait that much?

@xeroc

@puppies I don't know why, I was under the impression you had a copy of the chain somewhere?

I was able to use dumpprivkey from the console .
So you have the WIF keys after this step, which can be imported in following steps.

Quote
But when I go back to openledger , Im not sure what to do with the private key. Openledger either asks for export file from 9.3c which I don't have because I'm unable to register the wallet. Or it asks for the WIF format which I don't know how to do from the 1.0 wallet.
Sorry about all this, I know I'm late doing this by a couple years... I also dont know how to get my bitcoin keys in there ( the bitcoin I gave to Angelshares back in the day). I have all my old .dat files.

Again I'm sorry about all these questions but I looked and can't find the answers
From "wallet management console", click "import keys", paste the keys into the text box. If you're not sure what are the WIF keys, just copy & paste all texts generated in last step.

//Update: Same steps can be applied to bitcoin keys.

If you have further questions please leave a message here.

I am not the most tech guy around here to advise you but I don't see "boat11" as registered account.

what you need to do is go to https://openledger.info/ then import your wallet from 9.3c as per http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/migration/howto-importing-wallet.html

you will be asked to chose under which account your balances will be imported. If you still have problems please post again and I am sure someone more techy will be able to help you

Hi, I'm having a heck of a time getting this right. While trying to import my 9.3c  wallet into 2.0, It said invalid must import from the 1.0 wallet. So i download the 1.0 and imported my old PTS wallet in and I my coins appeared, so i thought i was good. I went back to 2.0 and tried to import from my 1.0 and it still said invalid.

After more reading I keep seeing I have to use the 9.3c wallet to import. So now my question is how do i register the 9.3c wallet (the faucet isn't working) and do i need to download the blockchain (not sure how to do that if needed).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
