Peerplay seems like a fork of DACPlay minus the social consensus. So why not just support DACPlay which does follow the social consensus?

I won't be buying this one because I don't see why it would be any more successful than DACPlay.
Next we will see PeerDNS without the social consensus.

How exactly is it a fork?

I haven't seen anything to fork.

We have a solid team, we have speced out an entire new blockchain, have presented a very compelling whitepaper, and have industry contacts to help incorporate it into elements of the gaming market once it goes live.

Reading the whitepaper the benefits from this project for Bitshares are numerous and have very real implications for Bitshares this year when Peerplays launches.
If it is based on Graphene but does not adhere to the social consensus then it breaks consensus. If it is not based on Graphene then perhaps I'll take a closer look and revise my opinion.

DACPlay adhered to the social consensus so the community has good reason to be loyal to DACPlay.

** UPDATE **

Yesterday we opened up our crowdfund and had a great response!

We ran into a few technical issues with our funding platform however that only became apparent after we started.

We had an intermitent issue with the email server we were using. We have since taken measures to fix this and have resent out payment confirmations to everyone who paid in, but still have their orders marked 'pending'.

Because some people were not getting their email confirmations this lead to a fair amount of confusion because essential instructions on token delivery were contained in those emails.

We have also noticed some are submitting orders and then not completing their payment process. We are using coinbase API interface that allows you to pay either directly with your coinbase account or bitcoin. It gives you 15 minutes to send something to chain to confirm your payment, after that you need to start your payment process over again. Some seemed to find this process confusing.

With these issues we are going to generate more content dedicated to our contribution process to make it easier for everyone.

In the meantime people have taken advantage of our live support and ticketing system to get their issues resolved with our help. Some have taken advantage of being able to reach us directly to get direct information on the project.

Also, we launched while our designer was still not finished our offer site. There is still some more tweaking, but if you go to www.peerplays.com you can now see our developer mockup we are working with in development of Peerplays that illustrates just some of the features.

That's all for now... this launch was really for those paying attention to take advantage of the low starting price. Now over the coming week we will be rolling out new announcements and updates. If you haven't gotten your PEERPLAYS yet, it's a good time to consider doing so before we move into the $3 phase.

Again.. check out the updated www.peerplays.com

Will any of the betting servers be located in the US?  It's against federal law for a US based server to take sports bets.  Not sure how everything will be setup, but hopefully this was taken into account.

We take regulatory matters seriously and have reviewed such issues earlier on. Details on this are coming later, but I can tell you we have already reviewed the matter of regulator concerns.

It is one thing to have a framework to keep track of points and distribute value, but proving games are fair is something the blockchain can't really do.

The 'provably fair' gaming is nonsense unless the games have RNGs generated on the blockchain and even then it is a difficult problem and I would suspect impossible to 'prove' fair.

I tried to read the paper on decentralized poker but it was beyond me. It seemed to be written in a strange manner which made everything more difficult to comprehend than it should be. I almost suspected that the person who wrote it did that just to make the paper seem to have more value by many layers of bs. If anyone knows of an understandable explanation of how to do a decentralized poker system, I'd love to see the link.

I'm glad to see some projects coming about this that are not led by the usual characters. Good luck guys!

About the collusion in poker game. I'm sure some friends can play a couple of tables and give them info on their cards. That would allow them to have a slight advantage because they can estimate better the odds in the game. I don't think it's a big deal.

I've been playing professionally for years, I usually play around 12 tables in mid-high stakes. I would win more by tables if I could collude with someone but I couldn't do that playing my 12+ tables. It's way more profitable to play 1 more table than lose your time trying to collude with someone.

I'm pretty sure if someone has a deep understanding of the math involve in poker games, if their are able to collude effectively, they would win more just playing as much table (without colluding) as they can.

The biggest problem nowadays with decentralised poker is that recent AI poker bots are doing really well. I use one to keep learning and better understanding the game at deep level.

This is a real problem, you won't have anyone playing poker games if the room is populated with bots.

One of the best poker bot has already proved itself able to beat very good high stake players.

There is a lot of interesting conversations on decentralised poker on the thread of the Pangea project (NXT decentralised poker project / seem dead atm)

https://nxtforum.org/index.php?topic=6628.0

As a big chunk (very big chunk) of the money a professional poker player win is lost in the rake (around 5% on each pot), the first effective decentralised poker room with a low rake (1%)
could potentially be a huuuuge success and bring lots of money on the plateform.

I know I wouldn't hesitate to play decentralised poker if it allows me to double my annual winnings thanks to a low rake !

Your fantasy football club will now go through a website that hooks up to the Peerplays API so now you don't have to trust a third party with the money.  The same reputable site publishes the scores, and never lies or else their competitor will take their market share.  Instant trustless automated fantasy football/baseball/hockey

Hello!

this is not a casino (poker, roulette, slots)

this is a SPORTSBOOK!

did you hear what they said?

they take a "rake" aka "juice" as they provide a match making service between those willing to give up more of the point spread, and those who want to bet even up.

Hell, there's so much money to be made here, that the Peerplays just cancelled the ICO, and are no longer selling any tokens.

Sorry boys, the window has closed

I purchased some with Bitcoin and they have been 'pending' now for like 2 hours. Also, it doesn't seem like the 'available' amount is decreasing. Any ideas?

you have to open a ticket... that was mentioned in the 3rd email, but I'm still waiting on the tokens

Bingo. I did not even start into sports betting this morning because of all the other info I needed to cover, but there are several major implications here. With the combination of smart contracts we designed for tournament management, Peerplays has the ability to integrate just about every major online gaming sector.

We have a series of explainer videos coming down the pipeline which will cover everything on the platform in detail, so stay tuned ;)

Finally a project with great potentials!!  +5% +5%

Can someone give us some estimations?

1) When the tokens will be tradable (low, mid, high) scenarios

2) When a GUI with some games will be available (low, mid, high) scenarios

Thanks!

@BunkerChain Labs can I please have your estimations for the above?

btw, is peerplays doing what dacplay was supposed to do? i got that impression from the video. a chain to support games that makes it fair for everyone.

Guaranteed Provably Fair Gaming
Peerplays’ provably fair gaming system is 100% open source and built directly onto the blockchain. You never have to worry about cheaters or unfair house odds, because all games take place between real players are matched with each other through a series of on-chain smart contracts. On Peerplays, you to place wagers and win huge jackpots by using these very same smart contracts.

That is the answer regarding making it fair for everyone. :)
