I apologize for not seeing your post earlier, I usually peruse the general thread and don't get into these sub-threads all that often.
 
I'm glad to hear you are giving Steem a shot, I think it shows a lot of promise too!

I found my problem.  I had open ledger open at the same time.  I have no idea how to close that one

I am running Windows 10.  I have Bitshares 2.0.160428 up and running successfully. 
I have been able to access my Private Key (WIF - Wallet Import Format) (show) successfully,  but all the sudden I can no longer open it.
I have used the "search the web and windows" to see if I happen to have another BTS running but I do not.  I am trying to open my new Steem account and suddenly can not access my private keys.  Weird.  Appreciate any thoughts.
