....after trying around 50 variations of my password I could finally open the account.
Thanks a lot anyhow for everybody who contributed here (still a bit surprised why the import approach with the private key did not work though)...

...I assume that I used the account model as I can actually see the coins as well as the address (that I created with the offline tool mentioned under your link) here: http://bitshares-explorer.io/#/accounts/hsb-wallet4

So I do know the account name, the address and the private key. I was under the assumption to also know the password but openledger.io does not accept it for any reason. Still my understanding is that I should not need the password in case I have the private key!?

Any additional help appreciated and rewarded!

I've never tried the method you have, only used the .bin files and that was always instant.

I am not seeing any additional steps compared to what you have done in the documentation found here: http://docs.bitshares.org/bitshares/user/security-cold.html#importing-keys

When you created an account via openledger did you use the wallet or account model?

...thanks for your response. Did that but this is also showing 'Asset Totals' as 'None'. Do I need to wait until something syncs or should it show up immediately?

Have you tried using the light wallet instead of openledger.io?

https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-ui/releases

Openledger is a company that provides the GUI for their exchange built upon the bitshares blockchain.  The light wallet is built by this community and may have additional features to overcome your problem.

Hey Guys,
hoping anybody can help me here - thanks a lot in advance for any kind of feedback.

I created a paper-wallet for BTS based on this explanation a while ago. Created address, saved address & private key, create account on openledger.io and replaced the 'active key' with the address that I created. Then I sent my BTS to this account. The latter worked fine as I can see the balance in the account on http://bitshares-explorer.io/#/accounts/hsb-wallet4.

No I am trying to get access to the coins. Openledger.io is not accepting the password that I noted for my account. Pretty sure it is correct but anyhow it is not working. So I thought I can create a new account and simply import my private key. However, when I import the private key for the address mentioned for above account openledger tells me that my balance is zero.

Does anybody have an idea what I might be doing wrong here?
Thanks a lot for everybody who spends some time to help me here. For sure willing to send him/her some of my BTS in case we are able to restore my funds together.

Regards,
Hendrik
