Hey guys,

Couple links first:
Opensim: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Main_Page
Hypergrid: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Hypergrid
Opensim wiki on money implementations (poor implementations): http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Money

Basicly, think of opensim as an opensource virtual reality that's very similar to second life.
Hypergrid is an extension to opensim that links opensim servers together to create a mesh of vr worlds.

One massive thing that Opensim is missing is currency - there are centralized tokens that people are issuing, but that's a terrible solution! What if DPOS was implemented where a delegate has to host part of an opensim on our own hypergrid, and we track all currency and inventory on the blockchain?

Delegates would not only get fees on transactions, but users would also be buying land on their servers to create their own virtual reality areas. This would require delegates to have powerful servers, but it could be very profitable for the delegates to do so.

One thing that would be very difficult however is policing - who are admins? how does reporting work? etc.. tricky. Looks like hypersim might give such powers of policing to hypersim owners (in this case the delegates).

Thoughts? :)

I had a similar idea (above) in this thread that got no love: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8346.0

I'm a big fan of VR and have enjoyed playing with the new Oculus development kits (try one out if presented with the opportunity!).  I'm not sure where DACs will fit in with virtual reality but I'm sure they will at some point.

I suppose you could build a VR game that utilizes a DAC as the in game currency or a DAC could be interfaced with in virtual social environments where it might make sense to make financial or other type transactions with others.

Unfortunately I'm just scratching the surface on creating some simple demos so I'm quite a few steps away from being able to speak on integration with various DACs from a technical perspective.

Have you guys seen opensim/hypergrid?
It's like an opensource version of second life, but it's not got a good currency module/implementation at all yet.
What if we were to create a dac to introduce the following features?

-Decentralized exchange of any goods - crypto to crypto, property, contracts - all in a wee virtual stock exchange..
-Ingame currency/inventory/property stored on a blockchain.
-Possibly even host our own grid on delegate's servers?

Now, there's no way in hell I could pull any of the above off, but the potential for a virtual reality with these kind of technologies built in is very possible, no?

That is augmented reality not virtual reality.

You mean second life-ish games, since they have conferences, commercials, companies, etc. from earth-world, that they are augmented reality?

No. Augmented reality is not something "inside" the computer, it's when you bring the cyber world outside of the box and it blends into reality itself. It can utilized wearable computing tech and body area networks to augment your 5 senses.

I suggest you use Google to acquire more information on augmented reality.

Example of augmented reality, you put on some glasses and you have infrared vision to see at night. You put something on your ear and you have bionic hearing. It augments reality.
Have a look at this picture.

I went through it fast. No at least direct implications for Crypto currencies / DACs?

Yeah, whenever I come across interesting news I am unsure where to post it.
I ended up linking it to a thread about DACs that might fit neatly inside virtual games such as these.

Augmented reality is much better. Big doesn't mean better but it does set the trends up for us to capitalize.

Not only will the virtual bleed into the actual world, but I think the opposite will be the case as well,
for instance if a fantasy MMO is sufficiently linked to Facebook, twitter, Bitcoin, real world conferences, etc.
then it will simply exist as a parallel world that is always deeply in contact with our world, and never as an "alternate universe"
whatever the mythical places and creatures and items and lore and laws that exist in that game.

Big projects churning and turning. Anyone have some thoughts on this?

"Free Range" Virtual Reality for Chickens

Sorry, I'm not making light of your topic idea. It's a good one. I don't have any knowledge of VR, however, so a dumb picture is all I can contribute.
