This is good news, and as most community driven marketing efforts worthwhile.

Toast, I had started the Asana group for Team Viral with similar aspirations in mind, which unfortunately has not really taken off (partly due to my own fault of not having the time to spend on it), however I think that Asana does offer a more organized way to implement such a strategy as it acts as ledger of accountability. It may be worth another look.

So can I ask that you give my 35 PTS to (or add it to another award if you were going to make one already) to whoever you think does the best job promoting Bitshares & the last days of AGS on other forums in the next few weeks?
+5% hats of for Empirical! ....it wouldn't hurt so substantially size up that bounty... The ecosystem will profit from more suporters and contributers. The value proposition of AGS will increase if the infromed group of DAC supporters is bigger....

 +5%

I agree with this except I would go further.  Developers come from internet communities. I do not believe they usually come from whatever the marketing guy is doing.  Developers will create DACs independently which is what Bitshares needs.  Users will then come for the DACs or exchange.  Right now Bitshares has an approach and future technology to be released.  Users are great, but future developers are where its at.

If you want a network effect, we need developers.  They are the first step.

Advertising at conferences etc is a very expensive way to likely accomplish less although it could lead to investment/consulting for I3 which is also very good for Bitshares.  I am not sure what the marketing guy does, but when comparing his expenses + salary to this sort of stuff it seems borderline no-brainer.  No slight to him personally, currently I just don't think traditional marketing has much value in this "space".

my 2 cents.

I think this is a great idea!!  +5%  +5% (Thanks for the recognition!  :)  )

Honestly, I don't know if you get any sleep Toast! You seem to do so much!

I think one of the main things is getting out there and promoting Bitshares on other forums, maybe specifically getting out there and making sure people are aware that it is the last 25 days of AGS donations! (So that you get more development funds and also so people can't say we didn't make an effort to let them know.)

The other day I ran across a very active thread on the NXT forum that is devoted to finding IPOs and such. There was almost no awareness of Bitshares; might be worth pitching ourselves there.

FINALLY I got Dan & Stan to admit our failures and weaknesses and decide we need a fresh approach. With some control over PTS spending I think I can organize a good attempt at fixing the problem areas listed in the title.

To kick off this effort, I've been given clearance to award 35 PTS a piece to some members of the community for their hard work and initiative. Please PM your PTS addresses to Stan if you are on this list.

Empirical1, for this awesome thread and followup discussion: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=5076.0

fuznuts, for fighting to get the mumble hangouts organized.

xeroc, for the writeups on the github wiki: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares_toolkit/wiki

CLains, for the managing micro-bounty initiative

Agent86, for keeping up the argument against me and BM until we upgraded the DPOS voting mechanism to the better solution

merockstar, for reviving my six-week-old plea to get some good writeups of educational material

... and a few more unawarded, because I'm *sure* I can't remember everyone off the top of my head. PM me for nominations.

Next up, a serious all-hands-on-deck PTS-incentivized effort to fix some of these problem points. Suggestions are welcome, I've got a game plan cooked up on which I can execute on given dan/stan's blessings, but this is not a one-man effort.

We need one news spokesman for the Chinese community.

Is there any way to get them on the Mumble Server?  In my experience, many people from outside our country "think" they cant speak english, but actually can hold a rather functional conversation.  With that said, it would be helpful to actually get to know the Chinese members in a relatively open forum.  So please, if anyone here is Chinese (or from any other country for that matter), please feel free to use the server--it will help us greatly if we can coordinate internationally and this service (or any other VOIP/Hangout type service) will really improve communication and coordination.

I have already received 50 PTS from another time (though I am not sure who sent it, I assumed it was Invictus).  This has been paid out to JoeyD (15 PTS) for working on setting up LiveStream Streams for during Meetups/Conferences on the Beyond Bitcoin Mumble, Gamey (15 PTS) for editing and working in the background on the mumble sessions and marketing in general and Legendface66 (15 PTS) for working on the website and main show.  I have kept the other 5 to pay the wife off!  8)

Just a reminder...this server is for everyone to make content with, schedule their own meetups...etc.  Someday I am going to be very active in inviting other communities, but I wanted to give Bitshares a chance to get established a bit before doing it.  Having a media creation hub will be essential for the constant education and DAC-related content needed to broaden our audience and coin developers and communities that come over to Beyond Bitcoin will gain even deeper respect for the community--and will likely be more willing to participate in honoring PTS/AGS.

As a secondary note, at least a portion of AGS funds would do well spent on building an initiative to create like an equivalency of 15 credit hours worth of DAC-related courses.  AGS funds need to DISTINCTLY give something to the broader community that is undeniable as a means of protecting AGS investors.
