I officially give up until static linux binaries are released.

unless of course somebody in the know can help me out...

I just now updated to 14.04 just to compile this. Im pretty sure that will be the hassle-free option in the long run.

Also you might find that the linux binaries dont run on 12.04...

ugh.

is it possible to upgrade to 14.04 without losing all my indicators and the specific way I've customized every little thing about my system?

I have successfully built the command line client, but not the GUI. I tried the cmake line given in https://github.com/dacsunlimited/qt_wallet

Code: [Select]
cmake -DINCLUDE_QT_WALLET=ON .
But when compiling I get:

Code: [Select]
*** No rule to make target `programs/qt_wallet/htdocs/blank.html', needed by `programs/qt_wallet/qrc_htdocs.cpp'

Does anyone have a rough step by step guide how to compile it in ubuntu (14.04)?

I have almost compiled it on Ubuntu 14.04. Have a look at the BUILD_UBUNTU.md file.

those instructions are to build bitshares toolkit, not the BTSX from DAC Sun Limited.

the instructions are the same. just replace
Code: [Select]
git clone https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares_toolkit.git with
Code: [Select]
git clone https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx.git

Can we download out BTS X wallet from the original github page at https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares_toolkit

instead of DAC's fork ? I would just feel more at ease doing that.

Also, shouldnt there be some tag/branch in the git repo for marking the official BTSX release? Trusting real money to the master branch, which is under constant development, doesnt seem right.

No you cannot, our toolkit is for testing purposes only and has a different configuration.   You can trust DAC Sun.

In which way is this chain still a test? What is this supposed to mean?

Right now the wallet is available prior to the public release that DAC Sun is planning.
And what will the the public release include? Does it mean press releases, articles on coindesk etc.?  And will the public release probably be before monday?

This isn't a test... it is only a test in the sense that bitcoin was still experimental for a long time.    This is a version 0.2.0 of a product that may have bugs.

DAC Sun Limited is working on press releases and other promotional items to get this out to the masses.   I have no idea how fast they will be able to move, but I would guess it will be next week.
Thanks!

Go to advanced tab under your account, then send me the key + name you would like and I can register it for you.    A faucet with free registration will be deployed in the next week or two.

I'm compiling now. Bout to ask stupid questions to make sure I'm understanding:

Once it's done I can do this and ask you to register a name for me?

Then I would have to be sure to keep hold of that wallet, right?

So I created an account with the name I wanted but when I try to register it it says I need to fund the account first.  How do I do that?  I have a number of BTSX on bter but they don't have withdraw enabled yet.

Is it safe to import my founder private key?
