Robrigo: Thanks for confirming that it can work.

How can I do a full removal of the mac app? I have removed the bitshares-x folder from application support and the app itself. There must be some broken config or setting somewhere that it is failing to load.

EDIT: I found them!! My wallets were deleted but I forgot I took a json backup in my dropbox!!

There are no wallet files. I believe I have just lost 20,000 bitshares.
Does the mac client not work for everyone or was mine a special case?

I am using BitSharesX wallet 0.4.7 on OS X 10.9.4 without an issue.

Wallet is located at path /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/BitShares X/wallets/default for me. Hope you find your BTSX!

@xeroc on mac it's located in /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support

It's also possible it's without the space inbetween (BitsharesX), but my macbook died so I can't verify.

I'm not sure where it is on mac, but your wallet should still exist on the mac by the sounds of it.

Don't despair...

1) no .. installation updates do not affect the wallets
2) I am not sure if that is the right path to search for the "wallet" files .. in linux they are located in
/home/.BitSharesX
what would afair be
/Users/<username>/.BitSharesX
on MAC

but don't nail me on that

This folder "/Users/<Username>/Library/Application Support/Bitshares X/" did not contain any wallets folder. I had to update the mac client several times. Is it possible these updates could have affected the wallet?

do you have a backup in form of a JSON file or did you do a copy of the "wallets" folder?

After. Is there a wallets folder or a wallet.dat? I don't have either of those in my application support folder.

That problem looks fixed but there aren't any accounts in my back up?

Did you back up before or after you created an account?

Hmm, this is concerning. I get the error
RPC Server Error: In method 'wallet_get_info': Key Not Found (6)
known bug ..
go to console and type
wallet_rescan_blockchain

takes 30 minutes or so .. needs to rescan the blockchain ...

You can't log in to an account. A registered name is nothing more than another way to refer to your account key. You account key is used behind the scenes to generate new receiving addresses more on that here: http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/TITAN

So to access your 'account' you will need to move the private keys from your mac wallet to your windows wallet. Please make a backup before you do anything. The wallet on your Mac should be located in /Users/<Username>/Library/Application Support/Bitshares X/ or ~/Library/Application Support/Bitshares X/. You will need to move the wallet files to your windows computer, probably to %appdata%\Bitshares X\.

At this moment there is no way to verify/test this method, but someone else should be able to help you with that if this isn't correct and/or clear enough.

I see the create account button all over the place, but how do I actually log in?

I created an account on my mac, transferred pre-snapshot PTS into the account, registered it with the network and then an update broke the mac client. Even in the latest version it will not get past the splash screen. Over on windows however, the client works fine but it doesn't give me the option to log in to my pre-existing account.
