I am having a similar problem. Running 0.4.9 on OSX 10.8.5.

I upgraded my client to 0.4.9 a few minutes ago. When I opened it for the first time, it hung forever and I had to force quit. I did a restart and after launching for the second time it asked me if I wanted to reset the database, so I clicked yes. My account is still currently showing a zero balance, but that could be because it hasn't scanned the block containing the transactions where I moved BTSX into my wallet.

The client wavers between "No connection", syncing with the block count ticking up, or syncing correctly.

Usually I avoid keeping any coins on an exchange, but I'm starting to really consider it. I don't know about the rest of you, but I get extremely stressed out when I see a zero balance in my wallet, even if I've backed up my keys (which I have.)

Now wallet says "syncing" but time til finish is literally going backwards...

Still not working here.  Using 0.4.9a now as an update, but still not connecting..

Going to check the troubleshooting thread quick, but...urg :/

I too have connections now and I was able to perform the transactions I had planned earlier in the day (albeit at a loss but such is the price of experimentation).

Thanks for the help everyone!

Good. It seems that DACsun has a different version of 0.4.9 up now than they did this morning, as it is not 0.4.9a

I installed that and deleted my wallet folder... am re-downloading the block chain and then going to import my private key... hopefully that fixes my problems. :)

EDIT: I have not been able to fix them, just be patient and wait for an update to come (hopefully) tomorrow.

Okay tried that version, still just sitting as "not connected". Sometimes during a restart it will start to sync but then revert back to saying not connected after a few minutes.

Any ideas? Supposed to be writing the 2nd part of my news article on using the BitsharesX platform but I'd rather the whole article not be about how I was unable to access my BTSX all day and as a result lost money...

As long as you can dump your private keys and save them, then you haven't lost money. The client is just a little buggy at the moment and people are having issues. I myself am having the same issue as you right now, if I figure it out I'll let you know.

EDIT: I closed out of bitsharesx and re-installed using the 0.4.9a exe and I have connections now.

It appears to be version 4.9, which also happens to be the version I get if I visit the site.

Where can I find 4.9a?

I updated this morning but I'm not sure which version I have. Is there a way to tell from inside the application?

Not sure if there's a way to tell in the program, but you can go to your My downloads file and look at the last .exe you used to install. The version will be in the file name.

No dice... still getting a basic "Not Connected" sitting in the bottom...

Had some BitUSD moves I wanted to make before BTSX price dropped today too, lost 15% of my investments value because I have been unable to access my account   >:(

There was an update today, did you update to 0.4.9a ??

The 0.4.9 .exe binary was bugged and 0.4.9a was pushed out this morning

Been having trouble all day with connecting and syncing. At first it was simply stuck syncing for a long time but now it won't even connect.

I'm sitting in on the webinar currently so I know my connection is functioning properly but I can't get in to see how some of my trades are doing.

Any advice? I've re-installed the latest version but I still have the same problem.

After backing up your wallet try troubleshooting method #2, if it doesn't work try #3
