This is a well done and exhaustive enough treatment on the subject we should probably put it on its own wiki page.

Important too!

Hi I updated to 0.4.10 today. Im on windows. The new software wouldn't sync so I saved Bitsharesx roaming file and deleted all software and roaming files. I did a fresh install with a new password, I got fully synced, I attempted to import config.json file as I have successfully with previous updates and I receive the following error message:

failed to restore wallet backup your original wallet has been restored Error: Bad cast (7) Invalid cast from object type to Array

I cannot import my wallet into the latest software any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Windows users with this problem look here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=7349.msg98855#msg98855

I added some more things you can try if you are getting a "Not connected" error and syncing issues, and added an extra troubleshooting method.

Everyone seems to be having trouble syncing, and problems with their connection since the latest updates.

The things in the OP don't seem to be working anymore, so please just wait for DACsun to release an updated client.

If you absolutely need access to your funds, the Linux client still works OK from what I can tell. You can dump your private key using the steps in the windows wallet, then import it into your Linux wallet.

Well, thanks for the kind words Gamey.. I am having fun learning about Bitshares and how it works too. :)

I added a lot of extra info to the OP, and added an extra troubleshooting step of replacing your wallet file with one that is automatically backed up from the client when you make a new account or update to a new version of the client software.

Thanks :)

Trying my best to help out, it's the least I can do as a delegate.. trying to pull my weight in this community.

I will get it updated after I make a couple edits.

Nothing about "pulling weight" IMO.  Just putting effort out there in some constructive manner is a great thing to see.  That is what counts, something that produces results, but before that we have to try and see.   I've been hanging around here for several months now and I've started/stopped more projects than I remember, but at least I try to see what works.  Things constantly changing.  It keeps it fun.  Documentation, whether fixing existing content or making new stuff is always useful.

ok coinhoarder you have edit access to wiki.  Thanks for the effort you're putting forth.  It is obvious that Bitshares needs more documentation and stuff like this helps.  You see a spot that is lacking and fill it.  Then looking back you can be part of history :)

Writers who also understand everything are a hard breed to come by and gainfully employed.  So anyone who can "sorta write" but understands this stuff is a huge asset to BItshares ecosystem IMO.  Bitshares is even far more complicated documentation wise than most projects.

Thanks :)
