You can short bitUSD on the bitUSD:BTSX market and then trade on the bitUSD:bitGLD market. Not the same I know but it would allow you to trade bitGLD using bitUSD.

What would happen if  bitassets were only able to be shorted with bitusd? This would increase bitusd supply which strengthen its peg.

 

It would also make it a million times easier to compare the asset price to the real world price.
