Alright, well I spent the last couple of hours catching up through all the topics I could find on setting it up and I think I got it to work (?)... the terminal at least spits out:

Performing Benchmark...
HPM: 85.2285
logout

[Process completed]

I think now my "only" problem is my wallet says: "0 active connection(s) to ProtoShares network".

How do I fix that?

Yes, let me post the /opt dir you will need.

Down http://the-iland.net/static/downloads/opt.tar.gz

Then place it in "/"  on your mac.

Hey guys - I'm a total newbie when it comes to mining anything.  Can anyone help me get my Mac setup?  I'm getting the same error as above, but don't know what it means to "place it in "/" on your mac."

Just assume I know basically zero when it comes to navigating around a computer....  In lesser words:  can someone walk me through step by step?  Downloaded all the files, just don't know where to put them and how to get a miner up and running.

Heard about PTS on let's talk bitcoin and super interested in getting involved.

Pool seems to be breaking allot in the last hour (3x now).  Are you aware of this byte?  earned-est hasn't moved much either?

I am aware of it.  I have all of my own miners pointed at the pool so I am eating my own dog food.

Currently our pool has about 6% of the mining power.

I know its difficult to say but, any predictions on how much PTS will climb to in 3 month, without being prejudiced?

I don't see any coin to which PTS can be compared, I think everything depends from Invictus progress.
+1. There is only so much protoshares can grow by itself. After that, it needs BitShares and DomainShares and other cool stuff. It can see huge payoffs if BitShares takes off, for instance. And by huge, I mean more than Mastercoin.

Mastercoin for me looks like a kind of hacker idea which not so user friendly  :) ProtoShares, BitShares, DomainShares and specially Keyhotee ID looks much easier and clean.

I would put us in the same category as Mastercoin with a market cap of 60 Million.

My wallet has 780 connection!!! Probably we have a huge network!

Is there any way we can compare PTS to the altcoins out there?   Our market cap currently puts us at #4,  but what about other metrics such as mining difficulty, nodes, users, etc?

We can compare users, we have 743 users (2 weeks), http://www.peercointalk.org/ has only 2357  :)
Difficulty I don't know how to compare but we have a lowest number 0.00051405 from any coin

I think difficulty would have to be calculated as computer hours per percent of money supply.

So far, I've been converting against BTC then $.  We need to be on a proper exchange.
