The new version will only show one receiving address - that's your default wallet address.
Dubious decision. It would be better if it is configured.

Yes, I think it is fine if someone wants to submit a config patch, but defaults will err on the side of usabilility - the one address, one wallet model is much more intuitive for users, especially new users.

MemoryCoin / Re: Mining LiveCD Project - Funds Available
« on: January 21, 2014, 06:18:22 am »
Thanks,

I've been testing this out today - great start on the project - 1000MMC on its way to you.

My thoughts are -

LiveCD works, but difficult to configure - as others recommend, I now think better to focus on liveUSB, and when that is more settled, make a liveCD variant.

LiveUSB -

I used the windows program recommended to create the USB stick, then altered the config and now have a bootable OS that starts mining on the network PC. It found the right chipset to use too. Love the miner pic on boot up too!

Problems:
1. It starts out trying to mine 8 threads on an 8GB machine - not finding enough memory and crashing, so I have to set the config to 7 threads. That makes the USB stick specific to machines that use 7 threads (and config is tough for my grandmother). I found with the windows-qt client that it was quite easy to find the amount of physical memory available on the machine and set the number of threads accordingly. I think this probably belongs in YAM autoconfiguration, along with auto-detection of AES-NI.

2. Config is a hassle - need some way to set mining address after boot-up, maybe from keyboard entry (possibly just first 6 chars, grab addresses from an address autocomplete api), or use a hardware signature(and/or ip address) to lookup a mining address from a web service.

Overall though, great start - any thoughts for a name?

MemoryCoin / Re: MaxPWR hired as Deputy Executive Officer (DEO)
« on: January 20, 2014, 07:35:01 am »
A person or address may hold more than 1 CEO/DEO position.  The person controlling the most (or the CEO in case of a tie) shall act as the de facto CEO for choosing DEOs.

If I am elected CEO, I shall create the positions above and offer FreeTrade all three DEO positions.  If he accepts all three, he shall be the de facto CEO to assign DEOs, and may offer his positions to anyone else.  If he offers me DEO Growth, then I may vote for him as CEO instead.

This basically just gets us back to where we started, but with the income/value/growth categories and overall general-deputy archetype established as precedent.  These are basically your crypto-pundits / trolls turned developer...or "cabinet members" in some circles. (We could just short circuit it and put it in, or we could play through the campaign/vote game to "program" it in.)

I see you're trying to turn my quadrality into a trinity already. Harumph.

Your support is most welcome though - so I assume you'll be asking your voters to give me their second preferences? (Check)

I think you guys are ignoring the answers that have already been provided -

There was nothing stopping you from participating in MemoryCoin 1 - people who did risked their time and effort and were rewarded for that. That's part of the culture we have here - developers and contributors are rewarded for their effort.

I guess you're talking about the interview -

I think good luck with a coin that doesn't hold any elections for six months. They'll call you worse names even than they called me.

Truth is, it's difficult to get a coin like this bootstrapped . . . it might be a bit easier now that everyone understands a little better how a coin like this is supposed to work, but I'd guess not much. MemoryCoin doesn't have shaky foundations at all - we're laying down a very positive culture for growth here.

The new version will only show one receiving address - that's your default wallet address.

The other addresses are still present in your wallet and can be added through importprivkey, importmemorywallet etc, but we're encouraging a 'one address = one wallet' model.

If there's a lot of demand, we'll look at adding a switch to allow more addresses to be displayed in the interface.

MemoryCoin / MaxPWR hired as Deputy Executive Officer (DEO)
« on: January 19, 2014, 01:08:34 pm »
Max has agreed to join the CEO team as the first Deputy Executive Officer (DEO). Max is looking at ways to structure and distribute funds to support projects that we want to encourage. He's an innovative and strategic thinker and he's a great asset to MemoryCoin. He'll be receiving 25% of the MVTEceo funds from block 8400 for his discretionary use and spending.

Note - I'm still hiring and there may be additional DEOs.
