We should add a careers link to the footer of bitshares.org.

submissions should go to careers@bitshares.org and someone should monitor it.  At the very least monitor once a month, and in the mean time let the applicant know that it has been received and we check it once a month.

Even if the team cannot expand right now it will be a valuable list to have in the future.

Bummer.... That was a shit ton of work for 250 views.

I think 2 reasons.

1.  I appealed to the hive mind a touch too much.   I will be slightly more controversial next time.
2. The hedge topic was not as high on peoples priorities as I thought.

If I could ask a favor though.  As a plan B for the next time I fuck up(and there will be more) if people could maintain a reddit account and vote on shit from time to time (to keep your account in good order), so we can guarantee vids promoting btsx get front paged that would be tremendously helpful.   The difference between front page reddit and not is about 10,000 views.   We got 17 upvotes and it takes 20-25 to go front page.... so close and yet so far.

Thanks guys.   We need some more reddit upvotes if anyone has not yet voted.  Getting to 25 upvotes is the difference between front page and not.  That is the difference between 10,000 views like my last video and 1,000 views.

Click here http://www.bitsharesblocks.com/charts and scroll down to total number of accounts.  Unless there was some parrallel marketing event that I was unaware of that bump in new accounts on the 18th of September was a result of my previous video getting on the front page of reddit.

So click here and up vote on reddit if you have not already.

If you do not have a reddit account, get one.  We will need your votes for all future videos as well.

For all of the reasons already mentioned, the OB thing is very important to us.  In that OB thread MethodX posted, Nubits are already in there competing with us to get in.

The truth is we can both get it.  Perhaps we could share the development cost with Nubits.   We have a much better name.  :)

Why not also take a snapshot of say bitcoin and give them 5% of the notes - it'd be like buying your customers by enticing them with a small amount of coins.. enough to get them to learn how bitshares works.

I love the idea, but you would need to be careful, they dont just liquidate and crash the price.  Not sure how to protect against that.

Delegates don't get any control over the BitAsset fees collected by the DAC (and their pay rates also have no influence over it). The DAC automatically manages the collection and pay out as yield of all the BitAsset fees (BitAsset transfer fees, bid-ask overlap of BitAsset/BTSX exchange, and soon, with a yet-to-be-released new market engine, interest on BitAsset debt paid by shorts).

Thanks Arhag.  I really enjoy your posts by the way.
So delegates do not get any fees or they do get fees from bitUSD transactions?
When you say the "DAC automatically manages" You are saying the formula for distribution is hardcoded into the btsx protocol?  If so what is it? If not what is the mechanism? and what are the fees?

Thanks.

BTW, as a result of this thread and BM's "what is a customer worth" thread I have written my next bitshares promo/educational video.  It is being reviewed by a couple of other forum members.  Thanks for all the inspiration. The last one is at 10,000 views and I think directly led to a bump in client downloads (unless there was some other event that triggered it that I was unaware of.)

Excellent.  Thank you Toast and TonyK.  I think I get it now.    Presumably Delegates still get bitUSD fees for transactions in bitUSD, but instead of burning a portion they put a portion into an interest fund. Which is then divided among bitUSD holders.   I further assume that portoin is the same portion burned in btsx transactions.

So I am confused.   If bitusd's are destroyed by delegates, then how can the person who pledged 200% capital in btsx to create butUSD's buy all of their bitUSD's back to release their capital?

Can someone please help me understand how holders of bitUSD earn interest?  Is it because bitUSD transactions have fees and those fees are paid in bitUSD and a portion of those fees are burned?  Or is it another way?

Strategically, I don't think you'll get many opportunities as perfect as this.

I could not agree more.  This really is a perfect union.  We solve some of their major problems and they solve ours.

I would be open to diluting our shares so OB can give away bitUSD in a promotion.  "Fund an OB account with bit$100 and we will give you bit$5 bonus."

OB is an excellent brand for us to attach our selves to. They are universally loved by the crypto world and seen as righteous.

Either way it is an excellent use of Btsx devs time to do the integration.   With the easy fiat>bitUSD on ramp we are building this will be a killer combination.

What a truly epic thread... So many good points it is making my head spin.  I think I can make killer videos, just about this discussion.

Anyway, My 2 cents.

1. While dilution has its own concerns, I think the counter opinions trump it.
a) We need to go hard or go home, or someone else will come and blow our space up.  We don't want to be 2nd best in the space that we (I use that term generously... more like you) invented. My experience is it is common for technologists to think great products sell themselves.  They never do in reality. Money for marketing needs to come from somewhere. Be it dilution, dev funds, or other. So you need to have a strategy for it no matter what the proposed marketing plan is... Be it referral program or other.   So what is BTSX's strategy for funding marketing?  You have to have one or you are toast to someone who does.
b) The dilution of shares to buy assets(people, customers, employees, marketing) is perfectly reasonable business behavior.  Moving forward Arhags point about a constitutional amendment process (AKA hard fork or not) should be how it is handled.  Put it on the endless list of things for Devs to do.

2. We have the opportunity to do some amazing ground breaking stuff here. Not necessarily now, but its fun to think about what is possible.  Just for shits and giggles imagine doing a proper acquisition. Imagine buying a company like Bitpay or coinbase through share dilution. Possibilities are amazing.

3. I think a bitusd drop (think referral program)is a great way to get bitUSD's in peoples hands but of course the devil is in the detail. You want the right people for the least cost.

4.I love referral programs because they are the least risky form of marketing.  You only pay once you have a result. The key is to clearly identify your result so you are happy when you pay.  I think Stan's suggestion of being a bank first and later a currency is profound. The goal of the referral is to get people to buy and hold bitUSD.

There seems to be 2 main attractions to holding bitUSD:
A)There is talk of bitUSD holders earning interest, but I must confess I do not understand this process or how this interest rate is determined. Can someone please explain this so I get my head around it.
B) Your money is collateralize 200%.  This is huge.  I know there is a huge market for this.  I know one wesbite. www.sovereignman.com that has over 100,000 free subscribers, and 5,000 paid subscribers to subscribe to find out things like where is the safest jurisdiction to store your money. At present his best advice is to get an account in a Singapore Bank because they are capitalized at 25%. And because you can hold 3 assets: gold Singapore Dollars and USD. They still pay near zero interest, and you have to physically fly there to open an account, and they charge fees (min $5/month. Plus you have to declare it on your FBAR form and everything else. If the bitUSD interest rate is close to 5%p.a. then this is by far the best coolest bank in the world.

5. And finally MethodX's suggestion of integrating with OB was great.  Although this seemingly contradicts my above praise of "Be a bank first" This union would be perfect.  OB would love to promote it self with:  Sign up and fund your OB account with $100 bitUSD and we will give you $5bitUSD now.    This is exactly the closed crypto world where bitUSD will flourish.

5. Another level of awesome on top of this is to get a reward for businesses to start accepting bitUSD direct, without the credit card intermediary.  If that could be managed somehow that would be awesome.

Yup, next step is to convince some places to accept BitUSD and this debit card.

Well I assume that this debit card is connected to the visa or mastercard network and so is accepted everywhere they are.

Oh another important consideration... Do you have to give up your personal details to get the card or is privacy kept in tact.   If it is then this would be a huge win and a very unique solution for the crypto world.
