Actually, I had a friend graduated from McGill with 50,000 scholarship when he got in. And I know what he's been doing is harder than this. How much you can offer him out of the millions if he can finish this whole project within two months by himself alone?

Great, give us contact info if he is interested.

Again, *conceptual difficulty* is independent of *development time*. School projects are *harder* but have *ten times less BS overhead* you have to implement.

All i want to say that is this the best you guys put on this project with this much money in your pocket?

How much you can offer a guy like this, maybe i can get shares or commissions if he join the team?

better not contact him if we both know he will deny the offer. it's all about money at some point.

When you want to hire top talent you had better be able to assure them that you have work for them over a long enough horizon to make changing jobs worthwhile.  Burning the whole budget over two or three months and then laying everybody off is an obvious non-starter.  And it would not be effective per the classic Mythical Man Month reasons.   Everything we do is optimized for sustainability of the industry over the mid to long term.  If you want quick flash-in-the-pan profits, invest in the latest flavor of the month.

but there is a thing called contract !  Dan

Speaking of IBM, here is some wisdom from them:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mythical_Man-Month

Quote
The Mythical Man-Month: Essays on Software Engineering is a book on software engineering and project management by Fred Brooks, whose central theme is that "adding manpower to a late software project makes it later". This idea is known as Brooks' law, and is presented along with the second-system effect and advocacy of prototyping.

Brooks' observations are based on his experiences at IBM while managing the development of OS/360. He had added more programmers to a project falling behind schedule, a decision that he would later conclude had, counter-intuitively, delayed the project even further.

But, are you guys comparing yourself with IBM right now? all the BTS believers just want the team to put 110 % commission into the project. when you have the money, spend it.

are you going to argue me that if you giving away 1 million to hire someone to finish a single bitshare wallet in one month, that won't happen?

Why not just hiring ppl finish this thing ASAP, you guys have a lot of money to hire good programmers and finish it in one month. This is also the fact!
Simply inaccurate, if you have talent please refer.

All I know is that he's working as Software Developer at validus, and used for IBM. Does that help?

BTW, 95% of his CS courses at UVIC are A+, maybe he can get me a commission if you can offer him a position.

I guess 98 percent ppl are losing a lot, only 3i and bitshares teams are the winning. (This is the fact! I am not talking about future and the pass, only the fact!)

The reason I think caused this is because the bitsahres wallet still not being officially released. Millions of dollars donation, and couldn't finish a wallet within 4 months?

I bet CS major student in their forth year. some of the projects are even harder than this single wallet. yet they can handle five or more projects or courses in 4 months. This is also the fact. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Ppl are losing confidence cause of the slow progress. This is another fact.

I'm only saying the fact. you can also state the fact against, but it has to be legit ones.

At last, i just don't think a single wallet should take more than three month to code when you have millions of dollars.

Hard Fork 到底是什么意思

PTS难度低的时候必定有人挖,4月的时候不就是么。三天几百万张显卡在挖。

然后等几个月难度低了自然又都TMD跑回来挖了。。。

All DACs have snapshots that honor something.
Upgrade DACs honor their predecessor.
New DACs honor their industry parent which honor PTS/AGS.
If a DAC is the first in a new industry, it honors PTS/AGS directly, just like XT did on February 28.

When an upgrade occurs it can be done either by hard fork if there is delegate consensus or as an alternative chain if not.

When an alternative chain is offered, everybody gets shares in both via the snapshot mechanism.  As long as there are users for both, they can co-exist like Coke Classic and New Coke a few decades ago.  The expectation is that one or the other of the products will win and the other will fade to zero - but that is up to the market to decide.

Been sitting quietly on the sidelines watching this forum everyday. Recently there was a thread: Today I loose confidence in I3. I thought come on guys, just be patient some great products will come. And so far your logic always made sense.

But the coexistence of PTS and PTS2 just seems like a quick money scheme, the fact that you're considering to do this even before the AGS funding is over, makes me think you're having funding problems. Another million would be enough for now, but what will you come up with, when those funds have dried up?

For investors your making the deal more complicated than it already is, now they have to choose between holding PTS and PTS2, because DAC's can choose to honor either one

PTS will drop from the top 10 coin market list, because it has effectively lost half it's value.

Sorry to be cynical, I still believe in I3, but this just doesn't make any sense.

Totally agree when i heard this news.

Come on. for months 3i was struggling making one thing, which is Bitshares X wallet, to work.

And yet, they are doing great job on ok, i haven't done this, but i wanna do that, oops, maybe that, coz that is a great idea.
ok, forget it, i wanna do that, coz that sounds neat.

if chinese is ur main market. ill tell you what, you are losing faith in china market by having more ideas without a fact you have something finished.

Even a six year old chinese boy will hate when you just have so many idear without putting even one solid product in reality.

Can we have Bitshares X working, then ideas? Gosh! why is this so hard

Hopefully when a snapshot is announced the price will go up enough to get miners back on board... If not we can intervene with a hard-fork to reset the difficulty, assuming we give ourselves some room in the snapshot time.

is there a way to claim that like some kind of raincheck situation

What happens for pts miners with their unconfirmed pts? since the difficulty changes at November. I think loz of ppl will have hundreds unconfirmed pts in their account. which means, if there are two DAC is releasing, ppl lose a lot of invest?

For a week, I didn't get half of the pts confirmed.

43
Why would X tests affect PTS price? Snapshot has been taken already.

DPOS is supposed to be the sea at which the entire DAC fleet sails on.  With BTS-X as the flagship, I'd say it has a whole lot to do with PTS. Perhaps this is why there is such a caviler attitude toward PTS amongst Bitshares insiders, they assume PTS has nothing to do with BTS post snapshot. If BTS-X sinks like the Titanic, you can very well expect PTS to follow it.

Toast, can you give any insight on the status of the testing in layman terms? Particularly how the exchange is going? Is collateral working etc...?

No work on the exchange has taken place since DPOS since we want to have a solid foundation... I will provide more updates with respect to the exchange in a week or so.  Our primary focus is a solid chain foundation with DPOS.    So far we are relying on trustee model because the ability to handle natural chain forks automatically is challenging to say the least.    We are making the wallet/RPC api as close to compatible with bitcoin as possible which should make the DPOS update to PTS as easy as possible for the exchanges.

General Discussion / Re: Are all Bitshares Team on Vacation?
« on: May 10, 2014, 05:00:53 pm »
Haven't heard of anything, any updates, and feedbacks, any common for a week.

Are the whole crew on vacation?

Just wondering

With 3 Million AGS donation, i think the team should at least have a certain level of professionalism.
:-\  Your facts are off.

Are you trying out a new alias? if so, it does not suit you or your investment.

what does it has anything to do with my investment? if your smart, you should really focus ur attention on the quesion i raised rather than on my personal issues.

most ppl are really nice trying to help me solve my concerns. what u do for helping? Senior member!

i only kept my eye on update 2.0 coz i think all important updates should go straight to there.

if you have time, you can read the entire whole forum all day if you want which i have no intension doing so.

ppl have emotions, they way you did does not help

Last update 6 hours ago, its all been in update thread 1.0

I think the question posed my most ppl is how much longer? not in which day it will release, but maybe month? or quarter?

i dont think we expect to see updates everyday about debugs, it that to hard to tell?

programming can always be a loop. test - debug- test - debug - test - debug.
