The tax issues will be the reason many avoid crypto, but there are an ever growing number of people that see tax laws as an unjust and tyrannical set of laws which favor an elite class of society and strip those outside of that class of the fruits of their labor.

This is one example of a set of decisions III will need to make concerning what to do or not do about the issue of taxation. I hope you saw the video JoeyD posted (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9718.0), it cuts right to the heart of this.

Be strong Stan my man!

It's so important for people to grasp that once the power of money is more fairly distributed, the world's entire incentive structure will change.  The effect will be hard to imagine....
explosive innovation, the possibility of justice and a grand unveiling of truth.....

The incumbent gatekeepers have zero legitimacy....their legacy is famine, disease, war, environmental destruction, slavery, theft, lies and fear.

Dang JoeyD, that's a fantastic video! I sure hope Stan & Dan watch it and internalize it's message. I've posted elsewhere in this forum my dissatisfaction of acquiescing our principles to the likes of funcen & aml pressure to hasten adoption, but this video strengthens my resolve to lobby III to resist that temptation and stand firm. If that means adoption is slower so be it. I just hope III can see the big picture well enough to know what the crucial decision points are and clever enough to find financing and a path to move forward where fincen & aml are not in the way.

I don't envy any leaders in the crypto revolution and the hard choices they will be called to make. Perhaps we'll see a "mass disappearance" of crypto devs and prime movers (ala Atlas Shrugged) to only appear later in a crypto Galt's Gulch to continue their innovation beyond the fucked up gatekeeper establishment mentality so widespread today.

Man I loved that video!  +5% +5% +5%

I will 100% accept bitUSD as a form of payment for any prints purchased.

http://www.clarkography.com/

Starting yesterday? Cause you know...I have a few bit USD...

Think I'll start a thread of businesses that accept bitUSD. Starting with yours.

Also what about adding your BTSX account name to your site?

Mostly it seems like you're getting upset that I think people like tonyk (and you) have a net negative impact because you're nicer when someone agrees with you and very suspicious (i.e. protective) when they are asking questions you think might be dangerous to the project or that should somehow only be asked if a person is trying to generate FUD.
Please enlighten us and show where you came here to ASK a question ..

From what I can see from over here is YOU spreading FUD:

... and I'll be shocked if Invictus is not getting a knock on the door come raid day for Angelshares.

The question you SHOULD have asked would be like:

"Hey friends, I heard blabla... what's the status on that issue regarding AGS funds?"

See the question mark?

I'm beginning to see more truth by the empirical evidence you're highlighting xeroc. I won't be quick to kick anybody to the curb, so I will continue to take it ALL in. But it's pretty easy to see the emotion in Adam's latest post, and you do make a good point here.

I posted in that thread, and supported the cause. The OP there was very well written and covered all bases it seems.

Money for Nothing, Dire Straits

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAD6Obi7Cag

Yeah! that gets my vote  8) It's been decades since I've seen that vid.

It is absolutely perfect - virtual reality, theme about money, working for nothing (bankers), chicks for free (we'll see)

That was one of the early music videos, way ahead of it's time. The group Kansas was even earlier in music videos, one of the first even before or just as MTV got rolling.

The only drawback for this MFN song is it may not appeal to the younger demographic, but it will to those of older generations that have the big bucks (they've been at it longer, more credit, more financial clout).

Didn't care for the Led Zep Casmir remake, hard to understand words. I looked them up and don't see the connection really.

PS: Guys, lets be nice to Adam. LTB and its subsidiaries have done a lot of good press for Bitshares and we don't want to burn that bridge. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
They can't be nice to me because I question what they wish to be true and I don't have time to beat around the bush when I see a problem or have a question.  They don't want to answer the question, they want it to stop being asked.

The community defense team is why so few people who aren't true believers bother with this forum.  It's why there's now talk of if the forum is even a good place for anybody new because posting questions as a new user are often ridiculed or attacked as trolls or sockpuppets.

Like you said, I actually do some important work for Bitshares in addition to my commenting and provide a platform along with access to the LTB community many of whom after which joined the I3 community.  Given that I could stop all that and invest my time and money elsewhere, If they're willing to attack my questions, what kind of user wouldn't they be willing to attack?

So much of what you said here is spot on, about how people resist truth. Thank you Adam for your willingness to speak your mind here.

I do think your generalization of "community defense team" is not completely accurate, tho it is so common in many communities, especially cults. "My team's the best, your's sucks" mentality. We don't need that crap. Let's keep it rational. Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion and support of your team, but keep it in check and open your mind to empirical truth and facts. When you begin to feel emotional consider it a gong to ask yourself why, and then pause before responding. You might like what you write much better.

Where I think you went a bit too far Adam was in using tonyk as your evidence for you "community defense team" argument. He is clearly abrasive, as evidenced by the thread you provided. But as was pointed out above he is just one person. Painting his contributions as indicative of the community's attitude is unfair and as a relative newbie myself have not experienced this group think attack. The community is very supportive and open to newbies and their "dumb" questions. I know, I've asked my share of them.

And like you I'm not afraid to speak my mind here. I'm just not up to the same level of knowledge you and many others are to ask the really tough questions yet. So please, continue!

General Discussion / Re: Expanding the Role of Delegates
« on: October 09, 2014, 06:08:41 pm »

Since there will be many delegates across many different DACS, there needs be a basic core list of guidelines and communication protocols can be adhered too.

-There needs to a reference hardware/OS spec for non-cloud and VPS servers.
-A cost reference for running a delegate server.
-There should a be designated site/irc or platform that delegates can access for trusted communications.

Wouldn't secure comm be built into the BTSX client at some point, or perhaps kethotee? Seems like secure comm was one of the foundational pillars in I3's planned features. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

I'm a coder with old experience. I'm not coding on this project, I still feel like I'm not up to speed entirely. No association with I3 or any other effort here, I'm just an investor at this point.

I haven't seriously coded in over 5 years, but coding is kindof in my blood so I use it for miscellaneous things. I know C but not C++; I know Java but not C++; I know Javascript but not C++; I know numerous scripting languages but not C++. Oh wait, did I mention I don't know C++?

I've put in half hearted attempts at learning C++ in years past but it never really clicked with me. Funny, b/c Java did click with me tho I'm only an intermediate in skill with that. If I were in a place that required C++ coders more than the skills I already had, such as UI coding, there might have been a slot open and an opportunity be on a C++ coding team where I could focus on C++ more actively. That's exactly how I picked up Java, but even then I was sucked into doing UI work b/c nobody was as familiar with javascript as I was. Javascript is one of my favorite languages actually. I prefer scripting over compiled for the immediate gratification, but all languages have their purpose, and have their strengths and weaknesses.

Sorry for the long winded response.

When you put money to the bank you actually lend it to the bank. If bank fail to repay you then, you took the risk and lent money into risky bank, so who is suppose to take a hit? We love free market, don't we?

[rant on]
I've looked at banking from this perspective since my early twenties. That was decades ago and it still holds true now. I've gone through periods of no bank accounts, no credit cards, paying bills with money orders, trade, barter etc. It is an unfortunate fact of life today that you give up many opportunities with such active rebellion to the established economic status quo, and FINALLY people have found a way to push back by coming up with an alternative: blockchain technology.

But we're at war on several fronts, and they all won't be won in a single moment. The fight for financial freedom will not be won overnight, but it is worthy of our energies if nothing else, than to free posterity from the insanity of our greed in the here and now. We're eating our future! Think big picture, think virtue! take this work seriously and really pour yourself into helping I3 and this community to succeed.

General Discussion / Re: Can explanation of BitUSD be simplified?
« on: October 08, 2014, 04:44:21 am »
Speaking of definitions for BitUSD, I'm aware it is meant to track the real world value of US dollars, but what happens if (when more accurately) the dollar begins to rapidly loose it's remaining value? This could happen through inflation or other world events such as China Russia & Brazil forming an alternative reserve currency. I don't actually think that's very likely, but history has shown time & time again hyper inflation is ultimately the result of governments spending far more than they can take in.

Will BitUSD's value go down with the declining dollar?

BTS will be the best DAC launchpad, and DACs are the future.

Once someone is a gazillionair from DACs they can do a hostile takeover of OverStock and point their crypto strategy in the right direction.

None taken. I'm just saying that's probably what will happen in the short-term whether we like it or not. Bitcoins best usecases so far have been drugs and day trading. Not saying I like that, but it's the reality of the situation.

That's the 1 time out of 10 I guess  :P
