What if we build into the software automated voting based on rules. That way majority will just auto vote and do the right thing even if someone is trying to abuse the system with custom made software.

It may be too late for this. But I was thinking that you could have this as a perpetual auction. And have it so becoming a delegate is only for a limited term.

That way it will be easy for positions to be filled at any point based on demand. And it takes care of the constant inflation when new delegates want to come in.

Let's say it's a quarterly thing (people in finance would appreciate that).

So every 3 months positions are auctioned. And people have the ability to look at stats from prior 3 months to decide who to vote for.

Also wanted to ask - if I wanted to be a super reliable delegate - is it possible to run the same client on multiple nodes with same user ID? that way if one of my machines goes down, I am still up and running and providing service. Or would that create unnecessary forks?

Sorry for the run on sentences and going all over the place, about to leave, and wanted to get all those in before I go.

W00t!!! Curious what it was. Link to change that fixes it in github? :)

With TITAN, no one can see the balance of others, that's quite different from bitcoin.

From the documentation: (https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares_toolkit/wiki/AYNTK_TITAN)

Quote
Are read-only/watch-only keys possible with TITAN?

Yes. The basic support is already in place.

Ok. noted that the rescan command did not generate output. So I think when that happens it's waiting for it to finish and when I hit enter again, it might have executed it twice. Perhaps that's what was confusing it.

I will only hit enter once and wait to see if it ever finishes, but been minutes now..

OK that was it! I refreshed and now balances are in.

So... moral of the story - synchronous commands in the command line will probably need some special handling so people don't call them twice.

Nope. Same thing. I've even restarted it, as this happened before with regular transfers.

First I would try wallet _ delegate _ set_ transaction _ scanning  true.  Followed by a wallet _ rescan_blockchain.  Then for safety set wallet _ delegate _ set _ transaction _ scanning false.

When I do that, it just hangs...

Details:

The 6,000 XTS and 35,000 XTS were created by doing wallet_delegate_withdraw_pay krabbypatty krabbypatty <amount>

When I do wallet_get_account krabbypatty I get this in the delegate_info section (pay_balance was higher prior to withdrawal):

Code: [Select]
...
"delegate_info": {
    "votes_for": 50998374857,

General Discussion / Dry Run 8 Delegate Payout Issues

So let's discuss pay outs here...

I can't figure out why the payment is still not reflected in my account.

What can I do to help debug this issue?

More on command line

If a command line produces an error, instead of showing "Command aborted." Just run help <command> and show how it should be used.

941
Command line & History:

- would be nice if "UP" and "DOWN" was going through the history. Alternatively make commands in the output a link, so clicking them populates the command line with the text.

Delegates Payout + Bugs

Payouts are not obvious, but I found the wallet_delegate_withdraw_pay command.

In the history I see the payout. However it is not reflected in the balance of the account itself.

That said - payouts and even transfers seem to be lingering sometimes.

Block Explorer

Can we have the ability to "get_balance" on ANY address from the UI itself? I don't see why we couldn't include that, we probably have the code that already checks the balances.

Also would be nice to be able to add "watch" addresses balances.

Security

This is quite the stretch, but why not - Ability to sign transactions offline. So many accounts are stolen/compromised. I would love to see a wallet that takes this seriously and never does the actual signature. Just make it so that the signature can be manually entered. Perhaps that's already in by using the RPC.

Guys, keep in mind Adam is doing something really good here. He is a supporter not the FUDder, many see him as. What he is bringing is the viewpoint of all the outsiders. The questions he ask are questions people interested and unfamiliar with BTSX will ask. That said Invictus needs to start investing heavily in proper marketing. A good product without good clear documentation and marketing would not prosper.

Ethereum changes rapidly, until their funding process begins, or they go into alpha/beta stage, we shouldn't really compare, unless done as a speculative draft separately.

944
How is that different from dry run 8?

Edit: I see - feedback thread sorry need coffee :) but dry run has feedback too. Or is this feature wise?

Adam exchanges haven't adjusted for the change in number of shares. They should once it is confirmed, because if they don't it will be very bad news that travels fast. Btc38 already confirmed they will handle this correctly. I'm assuming bter will as well.
