General Discussion / Whats new with Bitshares?
« on: March 15, 2019, 06:18:40 am »
Hey everyone!

I haven't checked in with this forum - or crypto in general - for close to a couple years (for numerous reasons). Any one that can fill me in? Is the community still as active as it was back in the day and is the general consensus positive/negative about the state of bitshares currently? What's been happening on the development end? What's upcoming?

Just any information you think is relevant would be appreciated! Just downloaded the bitshares client again and looking forward to getting involved once more!

Technical Support / Claiming final vesting balance (Fixed)
« on: May 04, 2017, 10:23:33 pm »
I haven't been on my bitshares wallet since march 2016. I had claimed most of my vesting balance by that point but just went to claim the rest today. I claimed the remaining balance about half an hour ago but it's not appearing in my main account? I'm using the version Bitshares 2.0.151111 so maybe because it's an old version it's not showing or updating?

Technical Support / Failed to broadcast the transaction
« on: November 18, 2015, 03:38:43 am »
I tried to import keys from my 0.9.3 wallet to the 2.0 light wallet. However after trying to broadcast the change the following appeared;

''Failed to broadcast the transaction:
now <= trx.expiration:''

Any advice on how I transfer the funds over?

It's windows 8 if that makes a difference.

Technical Support / Do json exports expire?
« on: January 26, 2015, 02:41:45 am »
I have basically invested as much as I can afford into Bitshares & think I'll just HODL long term. I still need to claim my vesting AGS balance but I'm sure I can do that in the future.

Until I'm confident using linux distros (I'm using windows) I would rather just delete the wallet file off my computer to be safe & have the json files on a number of usb sticks to import months down the line. But is it best practice to keep the wallet, update & export from the most recent wallet that's out or is it completely safe to import old jsons in the future... So if I export at 0.5, there would be no reason as to why that wouldn't import at say 1.5?

Technical Support / Setting up a linux wallet?
« on: January 13, 2015, 06:22:42 am »
I've just installed Lubuntu 14.10 onto a 32 bit laptop. It's the first time I've ever used Linux, are there step by step instructions on how to compile the wallet?

I've looked at Arhag's thread on compiling a wallet but pretty much all of it is going over my head. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=5951.0

Should I learn the basics on compiling before I start this kind of task?

Technical Support / Import old json file & password - Help
« on: January 10, 2015, 07:37:14 pm »
I posted on the Bitshares Technical Support thread but haven't had much luck with responses in what to do.

I've been locked out my Bitshares wallet (even though my new password is correct).

I exported the json file before changing my password. Could I try importing that json file with my old password onto a new computer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Technical Support / Change BTS password
« on: December 20, 2014, 03:44:43 am »
I typed in Console ''wallet_change_passphrase (directly followed by my new password)''

I got back the response ''password_too_short: password too short'' even though its significantly longer than my old one?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Hey

Just putting this out there in case there is anyone else in the BitShares community from Scotland (I'm from Perth) who would want to arrange a meetup.

If your interested just let me know.

Thanks

BitShares AGS / BitShares Music & AGS
« on: October 09, 2014, 03:06:21 am »
I was wanting to work out how many BitShares Music NOTES I would receive from AGS.

There will be 1.5 billion NOTES in total. 35% goes to AGS holders. That's 525 million.

There was 2 million AGS shares in total (I think).

Dividing 525 mill by 2 mill = 262.5 NOTES per AGS share.

Is that about correct?

Technical Support / An Error Occurred While Trying To Start
« on: August 16, 2014, 07:30:42 pm »
I was using BitsharesX, when it crashed & caused my computer to restart. When I tried to get it back up, a pop up appeared saying ''an error occurred while trying to start.''

I downloaded the 0.3.0 version, but I didn't uninstall the previous version just in case it was needed?
Once I can get it up and running do I have to create a new account then import my old one?

If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.
