Technical Support / Re: Question abut the core development team
« on: May 01, 2015, 09:38:20 am »
Hi mostar, welcome to the forum!

It's my understanding that the core devs are running one or more delegates that have naturally been voted in as 100% paid positions.  Some of those are being run on behalf of a core dev.  In the future it is possible that a single delegate might fund a hundred developers/entire software house, clearly we're not there yet.

With the market cap & price where it is, if a developer is unable to continue to fund their efforts via BTS, we'll need to find alternative funding, perhaps from a VC who can see the potential of Bitshares.  Naturally, the core devs are extremely important to Bitshares continued success.....however, given what has been built already, I believe that the platform will continue to grow regardless of any hurdles, it just may take longer.

I expect that to date, the devs have been funded via a combination of startup capital, self-funding & BTS selling.

Others who are better informed may well jump in here if I have any of this wrong!  All the best.....

Also, another way to tell about it is multiple message from different users to their twitter.
With one message template so it will trend.

Just my 2cents

Great idea joele.  Something like;

Redifine music production @Peertracks #Music Revolution
Music p2p for the people & by the people @Peertracks #Music Revolution
Join the music revolution @Peertracks #Music Revolution

Thanks guys!  I've updated the e-mail...

I listen to a lot of music and it occurred to me that I'm incentivized by the existence of Peertracks, to help the Artists I love to join a platform that will help them produce more of their music.  Yes I also have some notes, but I'm far more interested in the revolution in music production that Peertracks promises for the music itself.  Anyway, I've written this e-mail for review and I'd like to know if I have the approval of our communities (and especially Cob) to send it to all my favorite Artists if I can find their e-mail address.  I'll make a list of those that I send it to.  I'd like to keep it in my own words because that is more genuine, but please feel free to make a suggestion if you think it's more accurate or clearer and i'll consider making a change.  Also, if we all tried to write to our favorite artists (only once,) surely it's possible for something amazing to happen?!

Dear xxxxx

You don't know me personally but I am a huge fan of your music.  As such, I was hoping you might be interested in signing up to Peetracks which may be able to increase the reach of your work and help you acquire funding for your future projects.  We are in the midst of a crowdfunding revolution and Peertracks taps into that amongst other things.

Peertracks is an innovative web based music platform which is powered by Bitshares blockchain technology and does for music what Bitcoin has done for money.  It revolutionizes the discovery, distribution and remuneration for artists by incentivizing music fans to become swarms of talent scouts, enabling fans to fund and market artist's projects.  This platform delivers far more in the way of potential remuneration than traditional mechanisms which are fraught with middlemen and monopolies.

I think this is such a wonderful prospect for music in general, artists & fans, I've written this e-mail and intend to send it to all of my favourite artists in an effort to grow the platform.

If I have piqued your interest, please take a look at http://peertracks.com/

I hope to be able to purchase your Artistcoins soon!

Yours sincerely,

Ben.

I haven't seen this posted here yet:
http://www.coindesk.com/western-union-pilot-program-ripple-labs/

jeez, nice find Bob. ya know, every story I read about ripple ticks me off. they hire conflict-of-interest types, put them on their "Board", are not truly decentralized (see my post on ripple getting ripped), and now they want to shake hands with the fucking DEVIL too? Western Union is is the one company (besides Paypal) that, I'd say, 99% of us want to see GO UNDER. so, wtf? OMG (i sound like a valley girl right now, sorry)

this! It's like so many of the handful of people on this planet who comprehend blockchain tech are only interested in power & profit or simply don't have the vision of what could be.  By the way, your efforts have been brilliant of late.

I'm a bit down atm, so thanks for the laugh :)
Sorry to hear that fuzzy! I've never had faith in anything but I've found faith in Bitshares....you, bm  and others are a part of that for me.  Remember, 'If you build it, they will come.'
All the trouble is because we haven't built it yet. I hope any of our fellow Bitsharians that lost out are able to buy back in, should they choose to, now the price is more accessible.

Post questions that you would like to ask Jim Willie of the well-known Golden Jackass Newsletter if you were given such an opportunity.
I'd would like to ask jim the following please fuzzy;
Does he believe the Special Drawing Rights are the western banking cabal's attempt to win the next reserve currency?  Are they likely to include gold or gold-backed currencies within the basket for which SDR's can be exchanged?  Does he believe they control enough gold?  If they include gold, wouldn't that undermine their power to print, therefore limiting their control of the currencies?  Is the potential play to build trust in SDR's by including gold, then remove the convertibility in the future?

Errr, sorry, more like five questions  ;)

Please Pick 3 :P
( I understand though...I'm pretty excited too.  Been working behind the scenes on getting him for probably 8 months now )

This will be a running list.
Ok sure....only fair!
So do the backers of the SDR have enough gold between them to allow gold to be included? Will they be forced to abandon paper either way? Cheers, awesome work fuzzy!!

lzr1900 all we need is to be ready for when hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of people wake up from their economic nightmare and begin searching for an alternative. Did you think Bitshares was going to be able to manifest a new global financial ecosystem with a few strokes of a magic keyboard and a new technology? Of course not.

All the hard work, the innovation, the testing and  the evolving composition of our community is about getting Bitshares ready for when it truly matters. As long as people are willing to continue to build Bitshares, who gives a rats arse about the price today? If you are purely motivated by profit, then it's the price in 5 to 10 years you want to be concerned with.

I'm aware of only 1 truly decentralised market available to the world today and that is Bitshares. What is the one thing that people need and will crave to protect their financial freedom and stop the whole of humanity from being consumed by the greed and avarice of their slave masters? A truly decentralised market.  Keep working hard, stay positive, stay the course and try to have patience. None of this is going to be easy.

Wow ben, you and I need to talk more. ..
With pleasure fuzzy. I'd have got back to you sooner but had a difficult day as my grandfather passed away rather suddenly after Sunday lunch. I take solace in his full life and the fact that I had only just been speaking to him about the amazing people all over the world who were working towards the magnificent goal of setting everyone free. And that for the first time, a wonderful technology gave that goal a realistic chance of success. I said it was a wonderful thing to be a part of and that his great grandchildren would live in a better world. He seemed genuinely moved and happy. I tell you this because of your integrity fuzzy and in the forum because so many of our fellow community members have inspired me and given me hope. That hope has in turn reached someone who knew nothing of crypto but worried for those he was leaving behind.

My heart and condolences go out to you and your family.
Wish you lots of power…I'm here for you if you need somebody to talk!
Peace be with you.

That's very kind of you, thank you cass

And that’s what most governments do, but here’s where that idea usually falls down: First, the “black-market” currency is so desired by the now-jaded citizens that they do all they can to avoid the new official currency. Soon, most transactions, although illegal, are undertaken in the black-market currency. Second, since no one really wants the new currency, even the political leaders are soon using the black-market currency.

This is very interesting....hopefully Bitshares will be ready.

Experiment of the Week

This week I decided to test my willpower each day in the shower by turning the water from warm, to cold, to warm, to cold again before exiting. The first few days, nothing unexpected happened: I flinched and cried out in distress on the inside each time I turned the knob to cold, and sighed in relief as the warm came on. However, by the fourth day something unexpected happened: By some stroke of luck I decided to not flinch as I turned the knob; to my amazement the cold did not faze me so long as I held my resolve. After more experimentation I realized that the key to not flinching was to face the truth honestly, eye to eye, not giving even a saccade to distress and self-pity. I have since noticed an uncommon resolve in everyday activities, as if my reserve of willpower has suddenly increased.
Sweet. Will try it too!

Right and wrong. In this space, those who do not innovate are doomed to forkage.
