General Discussion / Open Ledger Trading
« on: April 23, 2016, 07:23:48 am »
Been away from here for a while... Trying to figure out what the latest is.
I'm playing around with open ledger today. It has definitely come a long way!

Is there anywhere I can trade with BitBTC as base currency against other assets/cryptocurrencies?

I.e. BTC/USD, BTC/ETH, BTC/MAID?

Is liquidity improving?
EDIT: I Found BitBTC/BitUSD but the liquidity is pretty poor for anyone that wants to trade more than like $100 :/

Also - how do you trust an asset at all? How to choose which one to trade? bitBTC, openBTC, metaxBTC etc..?

Can't seem to find anywhere to download it on the website or how to claim vesting balance etc.
What's the latest on this project? Really want to try it out - is it functioning now?

General Discussion / Operation Improving Liquidity
« on: April 06, 2015, 07:07:11 pm »
I want to do my part to help improve liquidity on the internal exchanges. I have been doing what I can from manual trading but am thinking of writing and running a market maker with quite a large spread initially which will gradually tighten.

All of the current featured markets on the internal exchange are AssetX:Bitshares pairs. I know these are important markets but with the recent BTS downtrend/volatility I am quite averse to shorting assets into existence that will be under direct exposure to the BTS price.

Wouldn't it make more sense to start focussing on BitAsset:BitAsset pairs such as:

BitUSD:BitBTC
BitUSD:BitGold
BitCNY:BitGold
BitUSD:BitCNY
etc etc.

Which of these do you think could potentially be the most valuable and traders would want to trade the most? By running market makers on less volatile assets we could easily tighten the spread (of course this would still rely on the supply of BitUSD etc but this does appear to be improving).

General Discussion / So many posts about the price
« on: April 05, 2015, 05:10:14 pm »
I know I'm adding to this but I've noticed so many posts about the price of late which makes me feel that we are well within the "despair" phase of this chart.

Thoughts?

Technical Support / Bug: Setting logout timeout
« on: April 03, 2015, 11:17:08 pm »
MacOs V0.8 - setting logout timeout to a large number, I went with 600000000 or something and now the client is completely glitching out and unusable. Anyway I can revert without a full re-install and blocksync? The logging out screen keeps popping up rendering the client unusable.

Technical Support / Bug - BitBTC:BTS trade missing funds!
« on: March 30, 2015, 08:16:49 pm »
I just put up a sell order of 0.43836804 BitBTC with an ask of:
"buy BTS @ 0.000026455026 BTC / BTS 0.43836804 BTC 03/30/2015 8:54 PM"

This is:
0.43836804/0.000026455026 == 16570.312197

Transaction #0e0d46fc
Block #2158766 , Transaction #0 , Next #0
TimeStamp: 03/30/2015 8:54 PM

My BitBTC Sell Orders are empty and my BitBTC balance is zero yet I only received 14739.66874.

14739.66874 / 0.43836804 = 33623.958398.

Where are the missing 1830.64 BTS?

I have restarted the client and refreshed etc. Any commands I can use in console? Don't really want to have to rescan entire blockchain if I can help it.

EDIT: I rescanned blockchain and the BTS is still missing.

General Discussion / Internal Exchange Automated Features
« on: March 28, 2015, 03:59:00 pm »
Are there plans in progress to incorporate automated functions into the Bitshares wallet? E.g. It would be great to be able to set a stop loss, auto buy at x etc etc. At the moment this is only doable through writing my own scripts and RPCing.

I guess the challenge with this is that the wallet would need to always be running. Perhaps this should be a feature for the web wallet? The hosted server could execute the requests or at least issue alerts to the user if they don't want to trust them signing keys on their behalf. Has there been any discussion into this already?

General Discussion / Instant BitAsset profit opportunities?
« on: March 28, 2015, 03:04:52 pm »
People currently buying Silver way above feed price. Anybody could short above feed price and instantly gain from feed -> bid?
I'm really surprised by the lack of liquidity on these assets!

Stakeholder Proposals / Dogecoin Market Pegged Asset
« on: February 21, 2015, 10:08:20 am »
Are there any plans to add this? It could easily be an addition to existing gateways like metaxchange/shapeshift or a new gateway in itself. I think adding other popular altcoins to the platform is the way we will get a greater reach into the crypto community.

Dogecoin is a great initial contender as their community is huge and seems to market itself.

Most Bitcoin believers hold some altcoins which are often left on centralised exchanges - let's push to allow this speculation in a trustless system on the decentralised exchange.

General Discussion / Covering Shorts
« on: February 14, 2015, 03:23:47 pm »
I shorted BitGold to myself, in order to cover, I would need to short it to myself again as there is nobody actively selling at feed price. If I leave it to expire and cover automatically, would it buy from the overpriced orders thus making me better of just constantly buying my own shorts to pay of shorts? Or does it take it from the collateral I put up?
