General Discussion / Re: whats going to happen with sparkles DAC
« on: July 09, 2015, 03:48:17 pm »
i support sparkle pow launch too, but really strange sparkle no say nothing on forum months ago

pow scene sure atract ton of miners and traders

Probably cause its just some guy trying to make a quick buck. F him. We want an industrial grade solution built by a solid team over an extended period of time, not some shit a guy forked and spent a week coding in his basement. Its pointless. There's no real value in it.  This community just wants free shares. Lets not waste our time hoping for junk.

General Discussion / Re: Exchange Bitgold to Bitcoin
« on: July 09, 2015, 03:42:39 pm »
bitGold is a decentralized market pegged asset in BitShares, and that is what metaexchange deals with.  bitgold.com is a centralized service and you'll have to withdraw through them.  Many in this community don't think to highly of bitgold.com because BitShares used that name first, and I think they may have also tried to copyright the term.

I think its a joke that someone so negative and resentful is going to waste all their free time bitching and complaining instead of selling their shares and moving on with their life.   I guess we all have our own tastes?

Thanks for the kind words Stan!

As you know, I have been working on making this deal happen for close to 7 months, and am glad to see it finally blossoming!

Summer vacation?

Weren't you the guy who was part of that scammer Brian Pages team? You must be the mastermind marketeer, especially with a handle like that. You make good choices. Keep it up murderistic!

How many users, developers, or partners have you brought into BitShares?  0?

Newmine,
I'm not following your calculations. 36K bytemaster mentioned is on yearly bases, so 18K for this year is pretty close to real numbers.
50K bonus turned down to 10K right around the time I needed to pay taxes from this bonus, so effectively it turned out into negative amount.

Wouldnt you only have to pay taxes based on the amount you got when you sold?

No, it was a bonus, not stocks or securities.

If the bonus was paid in tokens (PTS? BTS?) then wouldnt you pay taxes based on the amount you got from selling them?

Or was the bonus in USD.

He had to pay the taxes on the amount they were worth at the time they were received as income.  Ain't that a bitch.

So the devs sold off all bts they had and still working for bts at low pay? Completely BS.

No one around here owes anyone shit.  Especially not whiny little message board posters.

Please let the devs continue coding and enough with this nonsense.

We were told developers sold BTS to pay for taxes.  Now its developers sold BTS to pay for personal expenses?  What a shift in tone.  Especially when it was given that they would use Bitusd for all transactions.  Just another pipedream.....

What shift? Personal taxes are personal expenses. The IRS is not to be trifled with or you get to see just how personal it is  :-X .

Who let the devs eat???  You can't code on a full stomach

There is no takeover.  Cryptocoinnews wrote a pretty pathetic story, they should honestly be embarrassed by it:

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,17188.0.html

The core devs formed their own company.  They still work for the blockchain.  They used all the lessons they learned from BitShares 0.x and built a stronger, faster, more scalable system than whats available today.  It would not be possible to get this type of performance from applying  band-aids to the current chain.  Two exchanges have signed on to use BitShares for their decentralized orderbooks. BTS system still get a cut of all the trading fees.  All your BTS will remain the same - theres a 1:1 conversion for the new chain.

All these are good things, and there's a lot of enthusiasm around here which hasn't been seen in months.  CCN is peddling fear porn.

General Discussion / Re: My pitch to the Overstock CEO
« on: June 26, 2015, 12:25:01 am »
@luckybit
If Overstock wants to own the blockchain, then it is not in competition with BitShares (a decentralized blockchain). Cryptonomex can provide them with the technology and expertise to help them do that. If Overstock is not satisfied with that and wants to own the team and IP as well... well I have to hope that it will be out of their budget. I'm assuming and hoping that the Cryptonomex team is motivated to make a decentralized blockchain (i.e. BitShares) a success rather than only being able to spend their talents on yet another centralized solution (plus the potential for financial reward could be much greater assuming they are sufficiently invested in BTS). Thus, it would take a very high price to sell out; far more expensive than Overstock would be willing to pay for this side project that they are interested in that has nothing to do with their core business.
Ask how those hopes went for the Counterparty community whose developers were poached instead last year, got what they wanted from them and spit them back out.

So they will achieve internet of things with a centralized currency. Look at Gold - there is nothing preventing you today from using Gold as a currency. But it is just too much hassle to do so. It's the same with BTC and altcoins.

EDIT: did some digging. Unless you are doing it wrong. Like this guy: http://gata.org/node/7696

I wonder if BM and co is vetting anything at all.

1.  We met Mark a year ago at a Mastermind Networking Retreat in St. Martin.  He impressed us.
2.  We trust and respect the people who set up that meeting.
3.  Mark continues to be recommended by those and other people we trust.
4.  We have had good interactions and discussions with Mark - comparable to those we have had with equally trusted forum heroes.
5.  We genuinely like Mark.
6.  We are aware that there is lots of favorable and unfavorable web content out there - about us as well.
7.  So the existence of both kinds of content is not in itself a reliable indicator of anything.
8.  We have not hired a private investigator, government agency, or proctologist to do a background or backend investigation.

This is a decentralized, libertarian community open to anyone without needing our permission or blessing.
If this is going to work, this community needs to deal with newcomers in a way that allows them to bring and establish a reputation on its own merits.
Without alienating and offending them before they get a chance to do so.
And anyone who has worked in this troll-infested industry for very long is going to have lots of different opinions out there to be vetted.
Anyone who has ever tried for 100% customer satisfaction with a start up business knows how hard that is to achieve.
So feel free to ask about those issues, hear the explanations, and make up your own minds.

We have not, can not, should not and will not get involved in sorting that out for you.

Thanks for the input Stan. It's no secret that initially I didn't get the Bitshares thing right off the bat when Stan, Dan and I first met. We have some amicable differences. But things move on and what they are doing now makes sense to me and my team.

There is also no secret to me or my life. You only have to google my name to see it all. Some of it is inaccurate, but everything generated by us is. Good and bad. I have always prided myself on being being open and honest about me, my past and my endeavours. I'm aware this may put certain people off, but those people put off by it are not people I am interested in forging relationships with.

Despite my past and what ever moral judgements people may have on it what I am is a guy that works all the hours he can to make his vision and goals come to life. That is the main reason investors have backed me to date and my team work so hard for us all.

And you are right Stan this industry is troll infested and it needs to change to grow up. My personal approach (or at least the approach i try and stick to as much as possible) is to ignore the out and out flamers and trolls, address anyone who is reasonable and concentrate on the business building at hand.

As I have said before I am an open book and am willing to speak to anyone, anyone can add me on skype ID: mjlyford and schedule a call with my PA Zoe - zoe at lyfordoffice.com .

And last of all for those of interested in reading more about me you will get a warts and all account of my life to date (well up until two years ago , its being revised laster this year to reflect all the things I have been doing since May 2013) you can read my book (for free) by downloading it http://rebelentrepreneurbook.s3.amazonaws.com/Mark_Lyford_Rebel_Entrepreneur.pdf . Like I say it's warts and all and some of the scenarios and decisions I made in my life I regret, but its real and honest (maybe a little too honest in some areas).

What I can promise you if you do take the time to read the book you will get a full and real understanding of me, my life and my passion.

All the best

Mark

Can't be any more transparent than that.

People make mistakes.

I sure hope people out there attempting to judge Mark on his past businesses or actions take a cold hard look at themselves and drop the stone in their hand.

And just so everyone knows, I have been trying to make this deal happen since before Bitshares or BANX launched publicly - it is just as Mark said - he didn't get the DPOS thing at first and had differences in opinion on crypto tech - it's taken us all that long to get through it all and come to this point.

This industry is more fluid than anything I have ever seen.

+5% From what I've seen from following this project, Daniel Larimer's ideas are about a 6-12 months ahead of the crowd.
