Technical Support / Re: Custom css in BTS 2.0?
« on: September 09, 2015, 02:38:36 pm »
Would it be possible to add a small window on a settings page where users could put in some custom css code at least when its opened in a browser?
People could just share their styles or just change it to their liking.

I personally would like to make it look similar to poloniex in dark mode for example.

Good idea.

I could give an introduction on how to use websockets with js if you are interested
We have a big blue button server on standby just waiting for people who want to teach.  :)

My thinking is we put up content like that on a separate portion of beyond bitcoin.

This is a great idea that will help gel the community in my opinion.
A really nice idea that can help bridge the gap between non-technical investors and developers.
Theres no reason anyone can't learn these skills right now, but the issue i have always found is the best way to get started.

Brilliant suggestion, jakub. Absolutely brilliant.
"ubit", imo, is a perfect name for a consumer-oriented currency intended to challenge Bitcoin head-on.
"ubit" is short, simple, memorable, and replete with meaning.

OK, i need some clarification please.
I own only BTS. Does this announcement mean that i will get share dropped on because i own BTS or do i need to own something else?
Thanks

The sharedrop was almost a year ago, and it was on AGS/PTS, not BTS.  This was back before BTS was suppoed to be the main sharedrop target.

If you want some NOTES, you can buy them on the internal BTS market.  Price is in the .13 to .16 BTS per NOTE range.  (So you get aobut 6-7 NOTES per BTS).  Make sure you get the right asset, it should have lots of volume.

Here is the current orderbook:

ANNOUNCEMENT 7 - Cryptonomex Begins Licensing BitShares 2.0 Technology To Partner Chains

The industrial grade blockchain technology of BitShares 2.0 has put it in a class by itself, but that won’t last for long.  Several new “Bitcoin 2.0” blockchains are expected to adopt the same great technology this fall, and the crypto world will never be the same.

Quote
On June 8th, 2015 Cryptonomex shocked the crypto-currency world by introducing its third generation of blockchain technology code-named Graphene™.  Graphene averages transaction confirmations in 1 second compared to what can take Bitcoin more than an hour.   And with 100,000 transactions per second compared to Bitcoin’s current 7 tps, Graphene is able to support a host of new features, like a NASDAQ-class asset exchange, with enough throughput left over to upgrade Bitcoin and most of the 600+ other altcoins to a common interoperable cryptocurrency network.  All this is old news at bitshares.org.

What’s new is that soon BitShares will not be the only blockchain showcasing Graphene technology.

In most cases, it makes more sense for digital asset developers to build directly on top of the BitShares blockchain to take advantage of interoperability, shared network effect, deeper markets, and common services like BanxShares and BunkerShares decided to do.  It also costs money and time to market to bootstrap a new chain rather than one that already has a support infrastructure and a working ecosystem.

But there can be good reasons why some potential partners might need independent chains.  Sometimes there’s a compelling philosophical incompatibility, or differences in business model, global parameters, rule set, governance system, privacy policy, dilution, fee structure or developer vision.  Perhaps a different distribution is needed to capture support from essential partners, funding sources or other user demographics.  And of course everyone has different perceptions of the risks and benefits of sharing a common block chain.

Bytemaster did a riff on this in today's weekly beyondbitcoin.org press conference.

For all these reasons, and a genuine desire to grow the industry, Cryptonomex tries to take a very open policy to licensing its technology everywhere we can without impacting our existing chains.  (It certainly doesn’t want to stand in the way of its supporters getting share drops for great ideas that won’t fit on the BitShares blockchain for some reason.)

Our offer to provide access to Graphene technology
to compatible partners willing to share drop on the BitShares community
is a key value proposition of BitShares that should not be forgotten.

The first of these won’t be a big surprise to any active member of the BitShares community, but it is certainly worthy of a syndicated news release calling attention to our BitShares Graphene technology and encouraging other new and existing coins to consider what that technology might mean to them!

So, with a subtle foreshadowing more such deals to come, Cryptonomex and PeerTracks are announcing a renewed and much stronger partnership to jointly develop and promote BitShares and MUSE.  Cryptonomex will support PeerTracks with innovative cryptoeconomics technology and PeerTracks will support Cryptonomex with fund raising and business development.  This will let us share costs and provide increased development resources and public awareness for both projects.

You can read today’s joint press release about the expanded partnership here.

MUSE easily qualified for a Graphene license for at least these reasons:

•   It does not compete directly with BitShares.
•   It share-dropped 70% on the BitShares community.
•   It has good reasons for maintaining a separate chain.
•   We have a long-standing agreement to support them.

This agreement is the result of a recent summit meeting where Eddie Corral spent two solid days brainstorming with us at Cryptonomex World Headquarters in Virginia.  We liked the comprehensive joint plan we came up with so much, we just had to record it for historical purposes.

OK, i need some clarification please.
I own only BTS. Does this announcement mean that i will get share dropped on because i own BTS or do i need to own something else?
Thanks

I hope our new wallets will be modular in this sense.
ie: Don't present me with "this or that" if I'll never use it. Let me plugin to just the stuff that I will actually use. K.I.S.S. ;)

General Discussion / GUI Look & Feel
« on: August 06, 2015, 03:14:37 pm »
Question: Is there anything being discussed on what the GUI will ultimately look like in 2.0?  Like a poll, screenshots or something on what the best look may be.

From looking at the test site my own opinion is that this needs a lot more work before its ready to release. While the performance was very fast from the limited time i was on there, the look and feel wasn't anywhere near the same type of quality as the current online wallet imo.

The referral thing is a stroke of genius without a doubt.
When I read that it would be released this summer and I see that it's essentially August now, I just expected there to be specifics about the launch. I absolutely agree it needs to be done right first time it's just I would like to hear a specific roadmap for the next 4 months - what's left to do and ETAs. He last couple of mumbles I heard where good, but we drift from week to week and wonder what BM is going to say and what will be included in the update.
I am not complaining, just eager and wish there was some type of roadmap/task list to go live that we can all follow to final release.

Yeah, I understand.

We are currently almost 6 weeks into a 13 week long summer.  The blockchain code has been turned over to our internal test team.  Bytemaster is turning his attention to the GUI team, which is the remaining long pole in the tent.

When the internal testers have found and fixed every obvious bug, the test chain will be released for outside developer evaluation.

When we have a GUI that gives the average user a good experience, we'll make it available so that they too can check out the test network.

When we have the extra on/off ramp integration features needed by our exchange partners we'll begin integration and testing with them.

And about that time we'll announce the official 30 day countdown to release.   But we won't do that until we are sure we are really, really ready to commit to that date.

All of these events hinge on typical software development unknowns like "how many bugs remain to fix?".

Meanwhile, we'll continue to try to stay in the news with an announcement campaign that is a mix of new partners and expanded progress reports from those already announced and key milestones from the above list.   None of these announcement dates are within my arbitrary control - they require a lot of people to give me a wink and a nod.

The purpose of the announcement campaign is to attract still more partners to bring their user bases into our ecosystem and teach them to use it so they can collect new revenue streams.  That seems to be working, since I'm averaging about one new partner inquiry per week.

So, we're all waiting to see how it unfolds just like everyone else.

Got it, that makes more sense. Thank you Stan. :)

I am not complaining,

me neither, that's the reason i tune in.

Even though I 'tuned in' I don't hear timelines and expectations of 'next week' that don't materialize. Things come up and that's ok. It's managing the timeline and communication about it that's my biggest issue.

Every week his mad ravings get more earth shattering.

Last week:  "BTS has max anon"

How can he ever top that?

And while waiting for the GUI guys, you might as well just tack on the bond market too ;)

Agreed and how about an some type of roadmap from the GUI guys or a direct update/Q&A from them if that's the last piece of the puzzle.
